Family Game Night for Veterans Enjoy an evening of fun, laughter, and connection at our special Family Game Night for United States Military Veterans and their families! Take part in a variety of group games in the field and tabletop activities under the pavilion. Whether you're teaming up for a friendly competition or just relaxing and enjoying the company, there's something for everyone.

Dime Bingo and Lunch in the Park Head to Tudek Park for a lively afternoon of Dime Bingo, food, and fun—rain or shine! This event is designed for ages 55 and over. Bring $6.60 in dimes to play all 11 games and a comfy lawn chair for seating.

Play up to two Bingo cards per game (cards provided), and enjoy lunch featuring hot dogs with assorted toppings, chips, fresh seasonal fruit, soda, and water.

Don’t miss the raffle baskets and 50/50 drawing—it’s a great way to spend the day outdoors with friends and a little friendly competition. All proceeds benefit the Active Adult Center!

Build your own boat and race it at Welch Pool! Boats must be constructed using only cardboard, paperboard, and duct tape (colored tape permitted) and may not exceed 7' long by 4' wide.

Paddles or propulsion must also be homemade from the same materials—or racers may use their hands and feet. The race course spans one pool length (25 yards), with participants grouped by division and category and organized into heats as needed.

Bike Rodeo

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday at the Kids on Wheels Parade on the morning of July 4! Bring your bikes, scooters, or wagons decorated in red, white, and blue, and meet at the Corner of Locust Lane & Foster Ave. We’ll roll through town in honor of the United States Semiquincentennial, ending at Friedman Parklet with yard games, festive activities, cake, and watermelon. Join us for a joyful, community-filled morning as we mark this historic milestone together—on wheels!

Celebrate Ferguson Township’s 225th Anniversary at the “Ferguson 225: Red, White, and Community Night” and join CRPR staff for a fun and educational Bike Rodeo, where kids can test their cycling skills through obstacle courses, safety stations, and hands-on activities. Get Ready to Swim, Bike, and Run! The action kicks off with a swim at Welch Pool, followed by a bike ride along the scenic path to Blue Course Drive, and wraps up with a run across the State College Area High School field above the pool. Participants must come prepared with swimwear, their own bike and helmet, and running shoes or sneakers. Parents/guardians should be on hand to help with race transitions. Rain or shine, the race is on! (In case of thunder or lightning, the event will be canceled with a full refund.) Every finisher will walk away with a custom CRPR Triathlon medal!

Learn the basics of Night Club Two-Step, a smooth partner dance designed for slow ballads and contemporary love songs. This beginnerfriendly class requires no experience and will teach simple steps, timing, and connection to help you dance with confidence. Advanced Beginner's Line Dancing Now that you know the basic steps, it’s time to broaden your skills with some more challenging dances!

These lessons will build on what you already know, adding new turns, fancier footwork, and faster-paced music. The progression will be gradual, and you will be able to adapt over the series of classes. More varied music will also be used, including some songs that are popular at the local line dancing venues. Some basic prior instruction will enable you to find these lessons enjoyable and beneficial.

Focus on the fundamentals with this gentle, breath centered practice. This class is great for beginners, and advanced yogis alike, offering functional movements, breath and body awareness, and an opportunity for deeper restoration and relaxation. Lanes are available on weekdays, with the full pool open from 6:15–6:45 AM, then condensed lanes from 6:45–7:15 AM to share space with the youth swim team. Dive in and energize your morning!

Jump into a refreshing workout with Current Channel Water Walking in the Leisure Pool! Walk against the current for a fun, low-impact way to boost strength, balance, and cardio — all at your own pace.

This is a self-guided exercise; a lifeguard will be on duty, and water exercise gear is available to borrow.

This season features three divisions to match your skill level:

Recreational (USTA 2.5–3.0): Ideal for players looking to improve match play, court movement, and serving. Scores are kept, but reporting is optional.

Intermediate (USTA 3.0–3.5): For those seeking competitive play while continuing to build consistency and ball control.

Competitive (USTA 3.5+): Designed for experienced players with solid control and a variety of strokes.

Flexible Scheduling: You'll receive a full-season schedule and have one week to complete each match.

Matches can be played at any court, any time that suits the players.

What You’ll Get: Each registrant receives one can of new tennis balls, available for pickup at the Parks & Recreation office.

Registration Info: Register for singles, doubles, or mixed doubles—one divisionper category.

For doubles, only one teammate needs to register. No partner? Sign up using the “Requires Partner” option, and we’ll try to match you.

Streambank Stabilization & Habitat Restoration Millbrook Marsh Nature Center continues to be a place where conservation, education, and community come together, and a major restoration effort is helping ensure the marsh thrives for generations to come.

Centre Region Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Trout Unlimited, ClearWater Conservancy, College Township, and Central PA Pheasants Forever on a streambank stabilization and habitat restoration project along Slab Cabin Run. Made possible through generous external funding and strong partnerships, this work restores more than 4,400 feet of stream and protects vital wetland habitat.

Identified as a priority in the 2023 Millbrook Marsh Boardwalk Feasibility Study, the streambank stabilization project addresses erosion, stormwater runoff, and sedimentation. Improvements include stabilizing the stream channel, reconnecting it to its floodplain, restoring native vegetation, and creating new pollinator and woodcock habitats.

Expected to be completed in 2026, these efforts will bring cleaner, cooler water, improved habitat for fish and wildlife, and a healthier, more resilient marsh. Above all, the project reflects a shared commitment among partners to care for this special place and invest in its future.

Swim Team AQUATICS

Join a fun and competitive swimming program that emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, and healthy competition! The CRPR Swim Team is part of the Central Pennsylvania Swim League (CPSL), with meets held on weekday evenings throughout the summer. To be eligible for the CPSL Championship Meet, swimmers must participate in at least two regular swim meets.

Parent Involvement: Swim meets are organized entirely by parent volunteers. Families are expected to assist with meet operations throughout the season. ➡ All swimmers must be registered before attending any practices or meets. ➡ Participants must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted—this is not a learn-to-swim program.

We’re partnering with Delightful Divers to offer a SCUBA course that teaches the skills needed to become an Open Water Certified Diver.

Five classes held at Welch Pool Four additional open water dives required for certification (details provided during class) Participants must provide their own mask, fins, and snorkel by the 3rd class (estimated cost: $200–$300; equipment info shared on Day 1) Medical Waiver Required: Participants must complete a Diver Medical form. Looking for a fun underwater adventure? The PADI Seal Team program is perfect for kids ages 8 and up who want to explore SCUBA diving in a safe, poolbased setting through exciting AquaMissions.

In five one-hour sessions, kids will learn basic skills like breathing underwater, clearing a mask, recovering a regulator, and swimming weightlessly.

Seal Team Youth SCUBA

AQUATICS

Bubblemaker is an exciting intro to scuba diving for kids ages 8+. In the shallow end of the pool, participants learn to use scuba gear, clear a regulator and mask, and safely breathe underwater. Each child receives a Bubblemaker Crew-Pak with fun keepsakes like a kid-sized towel, logbook, certificate, tattoo, decal, and a Bubblemaker water toy. Sessions are the same; register for one.

Tone your muscles, build body strength, and improve conditioning during the advanced BOOM Muscle Silversneakers class. You’ll move through several “blocks,” which are groups of exercises that focus on different muscle groups. Silversneakers BOOM Mind is an intermediate class that offers the best of Yoga, Pilates, and Barre combined in a mind-body mat workout. Build endurance while increasing flexibility; class may include floor work. ACTIVE ADULTS

Deeply rooted in Chinese medicine, meditation, and martial arts, Tai Chi combines mental concentration with slow, controlled movements to focus the mind and challenge the body. This is an ongoing, multi-level practice group that includes individual and small group instruction. Beginners learn a 24-posture form that combines breathing with motion and balance. Ongoing warm-ups, stretching, and beginner instruction comprise the first hour. Intermediate and advanced forms are practiced during the second hour. New students are invited to attend the first class at no charge. Registration is required for each enrollment period. There is a $2 per class fee that is paid to the Active Adult Center before each class you attend.

Ted began his career in Park Operations as a seasonal maintenance employee and worked his way into the role of Assistant Parks Manager, becoming a trusted and steady leader.

Known for his calm, grounded approach and genuine passion for the outdoors, Ted played a key role in maintaining our parks, supporting improvement projects, and enhancing the quality of our athletic fields through his expertise in turf care. He brought consistency, professionalism, and a well-timed sense of humor to every challenge.

About Centre Region Parks & Recreation Authority The mission of the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority is to serve Centre Region residents of all ages throughout the year with a variety of recreation opportunities and access to facilities to enrich their lives through participation in programs, facility use, provision of leadership resources and technical assistance, and serving the participating municipalities' residents and groups. The Authority membership includes five municipalities--the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton, and the State College Area School District. Each municipality appoints one volunteer representative to serve a five-year term, plus one representative from the State College Area School District who is appointed by State College Borough Council. In October 2011, the five participating municipalities re-authorized the future of the Authority for January 2012 through December 2061. The Authority is a registered 501c3 non-profit and registered as a PA Bureau of Charitable Giving organization.
