Hi, I'm Yvonne, the Active Lives manager at Croydon Mencap.

Active Lives offers fun activities in the evenings and at

weekends for adults with a learning disability.

At each activity there will be staff to support you and help

you have a good time. Escorted travel is available so please

contact me to discuss your individual support needs.

For some activities, like Pub Night, Cinema Club, and days out,

you will need to bring some extra spending money.

I look forward to seeing you at an activity soon!

Direct Payments

Direct payments are a great way to get variety in the services and activities you use to meet your needs. You have a right to get money directly from the council (or the NHS) to pay yourself for the services, activities and the support you need to enable you to meet your health and social care needs. The council also has easy ways to help you manage payments for these activities.

If you (or someone you care for) already get social services paid for by the council you can ask for some, or all, of this to paid directly to you for direct payments. You can then use these payments to buy the services you need.

You can arrange for an assessment for direct payments by phoning the referral line on 020 8726 6000 x19509 or you can speak to your social worker. If the service you want to use already takes direct payments they may also support you to get them.

Croydon Mencap Terms and Conditions

1. Booking Activities - Full payment will secure your place on an activity - At least 4 consecutive sessions must be paid for where a club happens on a weekly basis.

2. Cancellations & Refunds - At least 4 weeks notice must be given in order to receive a full refund - 1 to 4 weeks notice must be given in order to receive a 50% refund - Less than 7 days’ notice no refund will be given

3. Additional Charges If you require 1:1 support you will need to attend the activity with your own Personal Assistant. Additional charges will apply if your PA occupies a seat in any of the Croydon Mencap vehicles or a hired vehicle; and if an entrance fee/ticket is payable.

4. Own Support If you attend an activity with your own PA, they are responsible for your safety and wellbeing; and it is their duty to support you throughout the activity.

5. Personal Information - At least 2 weeks before participation in an activity please ensure that you have given relevant information in relation to your support needs, medical information and emergency

contact details.

- It is advised that you carry up-to-date identification while attending an activity.
