YOUR GUIDE TO LITERACY & NUMERACY

We are committed to developing your English and mathematics skills in every aspect of your work at the College.

Numeracy

Numeracy is the skill of understanding and working with numbers. You will use numeracy in almost all the areas of study that you undertake. Possessing strong numerical skills is absolutely essential and we will support you develop the skills you need throughout your time at college.

Marking and feedback

Improving your English skills will help you get higher marks in your course work. Before submitting your work make sure you have:

Looked at your previous English targets to make sure you haven’t made the same mistakes again

Read through your work carefully and corrected any errors

Tutors will mark your work and help you improve your English skills by:

Giving you feedback and suggestions

Highlighting key spelling, punctuation and grammar errors

You can improve your work by:

Reading your feedback carefully and asking questions about anything that isn’t clear

Making any necessary changes and correcting spelling, punctuation and grammar errors
