HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES ANXIOUSLY LOOKING FORWARD FOR YOUR GENEROUS ASSISTANCE!
To every member of the Lubavitcher community:
During this month of preparation for Rosh Hashonoh, the ”head” of the New Year, we fondly recall our Rebbe’s words that this is an especially auspicious time for strengthening our deep bond of Hiskashrus with the ”Rosh Bnei Yisroel,” the ”head” of the Jewish people and leader of the generation.
Our Rebbeim explain that an important way to strengthen Hiskashrus is by participating in the Rebbe’s activities and concerns, consequently, by supporting an organization that brings together a number of these activities, the Hiskashrus is greater and stronger . Such an organization is Kupas Rabbeinu, which seeks to continue many of the Rebbe’s activities and concerns without change from the way he would conduct them himself.
Every year at this time, the Rebbe would call upon us to contribute generously to help needy families with their extra expenses for the coming month’s many Yomim Tovim. This also coincides with the special emphasis during this month of giving extra Tzedokah, (indicated in the Hebrew letters of the word ”Elul,” as explained in many Sichos etc.), as a vital way of preparing ourselves for the new year and arousing Divine mercy upon us. See sicho in the Hebrew text of this letter.
We therefore appeal to every individual man and woman to contribute generously to Kup as Rabbeinu, enabling us to fulfill the Rebbe’s desire to help all those who anxiously await our help. The greater your contribution, the more we can accomplish. Please do not forsake them!
Your generous contribution to Kupas Rabbeinu will be the appropriate vessel for receiving the abundant blessings of the Rebbe, who is its Nasi, that you may be blessed with a Ksiva Vachasima Tova for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. May it help to bring the full revelation of Moshiach - our Rebbe - immediately now!
Wishing you a Ksiva Vachasima Tova for a good and sweet year,
On behalf of Kupas Rabbeinu, R’ Samuel Malamud Groner family R’ Yosef Boruch Spielman
P.S. Of course, you may send to Kupas Rabbeinu all contributions that you would send to the Rebbe; all will be devoted to the activities to which the Rebbe would devote them. You may also send Maimad, Keren-Hashono (this coming year 5785 - 355 days), Vov Tishrei, Yud Gimmel Tishrei Magbis etc. to Kupas Rabbeinu
Important Note:

Baskets of Love
By Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz
The portion of Ki Tavo is always read before Rosh Hashanah. There must be a message here to help us in our preparation for the great day.
The parshah opens with the mitzvah of bikurim, the first fruits.
First fruits were marked, later to be brought in a basket to the temple and placed near the altar. The priests would then enjoy the fruit.
The wealthy brought their fruits in silver or gold baskets, while the common folk brought theirs in wicker baskets. Those who brought expensive baskets would later take them home. However, those who brought wicker baskets would leave them in the temple.
One would think that it should be the other way around. The wealthy, who could afford it, should leave their silver baskets. The poor, who struggle, should be able to take their baskets home.
For the wealthy businessman the mitzvah of bikurim was special. Being busy, he didn’t have time. He just grabbed his silver basket, put in the fruit and went.
For the common folk, this mitzvah was so precious. It represented the thrill of “I get to bring a gift to G-d!” Lovingly, they handcrafted their
baskets especially for this mitzvah. These wicker baskets were so precious to G-d because of all the love, time and effort that went into them. Therefore, He wanted them. The silver baskets—beautiful as they are—did not have the same love, time and effort.
How will you prepare for Rosh Hashanah? Will you lovingly collect your fruit? Will you take the time to consider your past year’s mitzvah performance and how you will improve in the coming year? Will you spend time preparing yourself for the holiday or will you just show up?
Your effort is important and precious to G-d. He wants it; He appreciates it; He loves it.
The same is true for our relationships. In our busy lives, many of our gestures are lastminute. Nice as they are, they are not the same as those we put time and effort into. While both are positive, the effort, time and love adds dimension, depth, and meaning.
Try it, and you will see.
Have a happy and sweet new year!
Recipe of the week
Creamy Coconut Fruit Salad Dip
By: Estee Kafra, Kosher.com
INGREDIENTS
2 cups coconut milk
3 large egg yolks pinch salt
2 and 1/4 cups whipped cream (dessert topping, such as Kineret)
1/4 cup Gefen Honey
3 tablespoons orange juice or 1 teaspoon Gefen Rum Extract
PREPARATION
1. Heat the coconut milk in a small pot until almost boiling. Pour into a bowl and add the egg yolks, one at a time, and the salt, whisking vigorously and constantly until combined and foamy.
2. Cover with plastic wrap, cool slightly and refrigerate for two hours.
3. Stir in the whipped cream, honey, juice, or rum extract, mixing well until smooth.
4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate immediately until chilled, or for up to 24 hours.
5. Serving Suggestion: Thread chunks of pineapple, persimmon, apricots, or nectarines onto skewers. Brush with coconut milk and grill on a preheated grill pan or barbecue. Grill for about five minutes or until the sides begin to caramelize and brown. Serve with the fruit dip.
