Crowley ISD Screening Protocols

All students and staff will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms daily and individuals with symptoms will be separated and sent home.

SCREENING PROTOCOLS

• Staff will be required to complete a self-screening process prior to entering a Crowley ISD building, and the district may require further screening of employees at any time based on current state and federal guidelines. Staff are expected to sign in any time they are accessing a District facility/building utilizing the QR codes on the doors or a campus sign-in sheet.

• A parent or guardian will be required to screen their children for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending them to school. Parents will need to take their child’s temperature daily. Additional screening may be conducted during the school day.

• Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms (as listed in this document) or is lab-confirmed with COVID-19, and instead should opt to receive remote instruction until the below conditions for re-entry are met.

• Staff and students should not enter campuses or district buildings if any of the following apply. The individual is: - Sick or has been sick in the past 14 days. Symptoms towatch for: fever (100°F or higher), cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, conjunctivitis (pink eye), new loss of taste or smell.

- Has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or has been in close contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

These individuals must follow all isolation and quarantine guidelines from the local health authority or their physician.

- Has a household member who is awaiting COVID-19 test results, or who is awaiting their own test results.

- Has traveled internationally or on a cruise in the past 14 days. These individuals must follow current CDC self-quarantine recommendations: View current CDC recommendations.

Teachers will monitor students and refer them to the nurse if symptoms are present.

Crowley ISD Student COVID-19 Exposure or Diagnosis Below is an outline of responsibilities for Crowley ISD staff who receive notification that a student or staff may have been exposed or diagnosed with COVID-19.

Teacher/Staff Responsibility • Immediately inform the campus principal and campus nurse upon notification of student or staff exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Identify dates and names of staff and students the student or staff may have had contact with or been within six ft or less during the last 14 days. Provide this information to the Coordinator of Health Services.

• Distribute exposure notification letters to parents per the guidance of Coordinator of Health Services and Executive Director of Communications.

Campus Principal Responsibility • Immediately notify campus nurse of reported student or staff exposure to or diagnosis of COVID-19.

• Move class to another location to resume instruction for the remainder of the day.

• Immediately contact Coordinator of Health Services upon notification of student exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Inform the Executive Director of Secondary or Elementary Education maintaining the confidentiality of the student or staff whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

School Nurse Responsibility • Assess the student, isolate from other staff or students, call for parent/ guardian pick-up • Immediately contact Coordinator of Health Services upon notification of student exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Follow up with student or staff regarding COVID-19 status and report findings to Health Coordinator.

Coordinator of Health Services Responsibility • Work with the teacher and campus principal to determine the last date the student or staff member was physically present in any district facility.

• Determine the date and time the student or staff member was in close contact (closer than 6ft for at least 10 minutes) of any other coaches, students, or the community.

• Inform the Executive Director of Communications. Maintain the confidentiality of the staff or student whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Contact Director of Maintenance to sanitize all areas the student or staff member was in within 72 hours from the time exposed or diagnosed. (reminder if diagnosed individual was in a room, the room will have to rest 24hrs prior to anyone entering) • Report potential exposure based on Tarrant County Public Health guidelines - Develop exposure letter with assistance from TCPH and Director of Communications - Provide the letter of exposure to the campus to disseminate the students and staff.

Executive Director of Communications Responsibility • Inform Superintendent. Maintain the confidentiality of the staff and student whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Notifying individuals identified as at-risk for potential exposure based on Tarrant County Public Health guidelines.

• Inform the Board of the situation. Maintain the confidentiality whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Monitor the situation closely and keep the superintendent updated.

Positive Cases and Staff/Students Showing COVID Symptoms - Isolation Protocols • For students displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling feverish, the school nurse will provide a clinical assessment to determine if and when a student needs to be sent home.

• Students who are ill will be separated from their peers and should be picked up within 30 minutes and no later than one hour from the time the campus has contacted the parent/guardian.

• Other students will be removed from the classroom and taken to an alternate location on campus (go on a walk outside, move to a different classroom, etc) so that the classroom can be disinfected.

• If an individual who has been in a school is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19, the school must notify its local health department, in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, including confidentiality requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

• Schools must close off areas that are heavily used by the individual with the lab-confirmed case (student, teacher, or staff) until the non-porous surfaces in those areas can be disinfected.

• District communication will be provided to the students who came in contact with a student or staff member displaying COVID-19 symptoms.

• Staff members displaying COVID-19 symptoms will follow district protocols including isolation from students and other staff members.

• Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be permitted to return to school when: - They are three days (72 hours) fever-free without using fever-reducing medication; - Improved symptoms (cough, difficulty breathing, etc.); - 10 days have passed since symptoms began.

Crowley ISD Athletic COVID-19 Exposure or Diagnosis Below is an outline of responsibilities for Crowley ISD coaches/staff who receive notification that a student athlete may have been exposed or diagnosed with COVID-19 Coach Responsibility • Immediately notify Athletic Coordinator upon notification of student or staff exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Distribute exposure notification letters to parents per the guidance of Coordinator of Health Services and Executive Director of Communications.

Athletic Coordinator Responsibility • Immediately notify Executive Director of Athletics of reported student or staff exposure to or diagnosis of COVID-19.

• Cancel practice of exposed cohort if deemed necessary per directive from TCPH via Health Coordinator and Athletic Director.

• Identify dates and names of athletes the student or staff may have had contact with or been within six ft or less during the last 14 days. Provide this information to the Coordinator of Health Services.

Athletic Director Responsibility • Immediately contact Coordinator of Health Services upon notification of student exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Inform the campus principal/ Executive Director of Secondary Education maintaining the confidentiality of the student or staff whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

Coordinator of Health Services Responsibility • Work with the coach to determine the last date the student or coach was physically present in any district facility.

• Determine the date and time the student or coach was in close contact (closer than 6ft for at least 30 minutes) of any other coaches, students, or the community.

• Inform the Executive Director of Communications. Maintain the confidentiality of the coach or student whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Contact Director of Maintenance to sanitize all areas the athlete was in within 72 hours from the time exposed or diagnosed. (reminder if diagnosed individual was in a room, the room will have to rest 24hrs prior to anyone entering)

• Report potential exposure based on Tarrant County Public Health guidelines - Develop exposure letter with assistance from TCPH and Director of Communications - Provide the letter of exposure to the coach to disseminate the students and staff - Provide the letter of exposure to the Executive Director of Athletics and Athletic Coordinator

Executive Director of Communications Responsibility • Inform Superintendent. Maintain the confidentiality of the staff and student whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Notifying individuals identified as at-risk for potential exposure based on Tarrant County Public Health guidelines.

• Inform the Board of the situation. Maintain the confidentiality whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

• Monitor the situation closely and keep the superintendent updated.

Athlete Responsibility • Provide medical clearance to return to workouts.

Positive Cases and Staff/Students Showing COVID Symptoms • If a positive case is identified among a participant in these summer activities, either staff or student, the group to which that staff or student was assigned and in contact with must be removed from the sessions while all members of the group self-isolate. If the confirmed individual regularly had close contact outside a single group, then all of the students and staff with whom the confirmed individual had close contact shall be removed from workouts for two weeks. Schools should consider having students remain with a single group or cohort to minimize the number of students and staff that must isolate if a case is confirmed.

- For example: If a student in one cohort tests positive for COVID, the student and that one cohort must isolate.

If that student was part of several cohorts, then the student and athletic staff members and all of the cohorts they were a member of would have to isolate for two weeks.

• Any staff member or student who experiences any of the symptoms of COVID (listed below) should self-isolate until the below conditions have been met.

- In the case of an individual who was diagnosed with COVID-19, the individual may visit when all three of the following criteria are met: at least three days (72 hours) have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications); and the individual has improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath); and at least ten days have passed since symptoms first appeared; or

- In the case of an individual who has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and does not get evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, the individual is assumed to have COVID-19, and the individual may not return to work until the individual has completed the same three-step criteria listed above; or

- If the individual has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and wants to return to work or school before completing the above self-isolation period, the individual must obtain a medical professional’s note clearing the individual for return based on an alternative diagnosis.

• Any student or staff member living with someone who experiences any of the symptoms of COVID, whether they have a positive COVID test or not, should self-isolate for two weeks. If they do not experience any COVID symptoms during that period, they can return to summer workouts. If they experience symptoms, they must self-isolate until the conditions outlined above have been met.

In the case that students or coaches who have had COVID-exposure (i.e. family members, close contacts) and attended practice, those student athletes and coaches in the cohorts with indirect exposure will be notified via letter and closely monitored by health service staff for 2 weeks.

Fine Arts Staff and Instructors Responsibility • Immediately notify Campus Principal upon notification of student or staff exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Distribute exposure notification letters to parents per the guidance of Coordinator of Health Services and Executive Director of Communications.

Campus Principal Responsibility • Immediately contact Coordinator of Health Services upon notification of student exposure to or diagnosis of with COVID-19.

• Inform the Executive Director of Secondary Education maintaining the confidentiality of the student or staff whenever possible and remind others of the need to keep personal and medical information confidential.

Coordinator of Health Services Responsibility • Work with the Fine Arts Staff & Instructors and campus principal to determine the last date the student or staff member was physically present in any district facility.
