DARRELL NESBITT/CROSSROADS THIS WEEK
A young calf named Baby enjoyed feeding time more than Declan Wray of Binscarth did prior to being led into the show ring at the Foxwarren Ag. Society’s 89th Annual Fat Stock Show and the Foxwarren-Solsgirth 4-H Beef Club’s Achievement held on Saturday, June 14 at the Galloway Farm northeast of the community. The small Canadian Speckle Park calf shown by Declan’s younger sister Kaisa (with assistance) was among the entries showcasing the dedication of youth in the Little Doggies club.

Crossroads This Week
The long-awaited Kenton Playground Project is finally coming to fruition, after receiving a supporting $39,000 grant from the Federated Co-op Community Spaces Program. With the generous support of Valleyview Co-op and the committed efforts of various community organizations, Kenton’s dream of a new play structure is becoming a reality.
“We are thrilled to be one of the recipients of the Federated Coop Community Spaces Grant this year, which will significantly contribute to our Playground Project here in Kenton,” Kenton Community Volunteer, Nicole Wilson, stated. “Since losing the school many years ago, the only real play structure left in townis located at the old school grounds. Another set of equipmentthat is leftstanding is also very dated. It was time for our busy little town to have a new and improved, safe and inclu-
sive structure for all ages and skills to enjoy!”
Back in 2019, Wilson explained that various community volunteers and organizations constructed an open-air bandstand for music and events located behind the Woodworth Legion.
“This structure has hosted many communityevents, as well
as private family functions,” Wilson said. “We are so excitedto have this spacein town used, and when the idea was proposed that we install a new play structure just down from the bandstand, the Woodworth Legion was up for the challenge.”
