Eager candidates across the region are getting ready as the nomination period has officially started for this fall’s municipal election. The nomination period for every Manitoba municipality outside of a handful of resort communities runs until Sept. 22, and anyone wanting
to run for reeve or council in local municipalities must file nomination papers with their municipality’s Senior Election Official before that window closes. That short timeframe leads into Manitoba’s next general municipal election, set for Wednesday, Oct. 28, when voters across the province will choose mayors, reeves, councillors, and school board trustees for
the next four-year term. In Rossburn Municipality, incumbent councillor Alicia Grassinger has confirmed she plans to file her nomination papers again this year. “I’m excited to put my name forward again,” Grassinger said. “My first term on council has been a huge learning experience, and it’s given me a much better under-
standing of municipal government and just how much goes into the decisions that affect our community every day.” Grassinger sees the nomination period itself as a chance for others in the community to think about stepping up too. “I think the nomination period is a great opportunity for people to really think about getting
