Not sure what spooked this flock of sheep grazing in a pasture along Provincial Road 264 near the junction of Highway 16 west of Shoal Lake, but it was follow the leader at the Dallas and Larissa Kominko’s farm as the animals were on the move on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 10.

According to Kari Fouillard, Twin Valley Co-op’s Marketing& CommunityRelationsManager, “Our day at Twin Valley was a huge success again.”

It was another successful year for Fuel Good Day as Twin Valley Co-op’s annual event raised a total of $5,555 for local daycares. Held each September, the initiative turns a portion of fuel sales and community efforts into direct financial support for local causes.

A total of “$2,690 was raised at the pumps for the four daycares in Russell, Birtle, Miniota, and Elkhorn,” Fouillard stated. The daycares also held their own on-

location fundraisers, which brought in an additional $1,615 through events such as a bake sale and an art auction.

The co-op’s support extended beyond the communities with gas bars.

“We also recognize that we have many other licensed day

care centres in our trading area that we do not have Gas Bars in the communities,” Fouillard said, adding that Twin Valley Co-op “will be donating $1,250 to five local daycares in our surrounding communities.”
