Happiness

If January is the month of hope and new beginnings and February is the month of love, then March is the month of happiness. Did you know that March 20 is the International Day of Happiness? Look it up at dayofhappiness.net.

Throughout March we can’t help being inspired by the new life springing up around us. The buds that are set and readying themselves to pop open. They are often tiny and look like cocoons. And inside each of these inanimate containers are all of Spring’s surprises just waiting to explode into life. Just noticing this change tickles our happiness muscles.

Here are a few additional ideas for increasing your own happiness, connecting with others, and building a happier, stronger community.

•Set an intention to live with awareness and kindness.

•Notice how you speak to yourself and use kind words.

•G ive positive comments to as many people as possible today.

•Really listen to what people are saying without judging them.

•Listen to a piece of music without doing anything else.

•Focus your attention on the good things you take for granted. Let’s make March an opportunity to discover new avenues to experience happiness here at our Crossroads community. If you want to make Diana happy, please vote Crossroads at Northglenn Best of the Best again and make it 8 years in a row! Voting begins March 1. See Diana for details.

Update from Maranatha

Imagine being a high school student in Greenville, Tennessee and learning that you have an opportunity to go to a remote area in Kenya to help renovate a primary school for children there. The Maranatha Volunteer International project gave 45 young people that opening and in January the Kimogoro Adventist Boarding Primary school welcomed them with open arms.

The Greenville kids laid block on a new bathroom building which added to the boys and girls dormitories, kitchen and dining hall already underway. The volunteers often go to be a blessing to others, but nearly always receive one in return. One student, Rylie Tomlinson, learned to fi times. “[God] was showing me that He is all I need to fi contentment. I do not need to dwell on my problem; I need to dwell on my Problem Solver. And that is exactly what we went to [Kenya] to share.” To learn more, scan this code, go to www Maranatha channel.

TimeLautogh

An elderly man in the Everglades had owned a large property for several years. He had a dam in one of the lower paddocks where he had planted mango and avocado trees. The dam had been fixed up for swimming when it was built, and he also had some picnic tables placed there in the shade of the fruit trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to take a 10-gallon bucket and go down to the dam and bring back some fruit. As he neared the dam, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his dam.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, “We’re not coming out until you leave!” The old man frowned, “I didn’t come down here to watch you ladies swim naked.” Holding the bucket up he said, “I’m here to feed the crocodile.”
