Community Number One!
As the holiday season approaches, we want to encourage you to reach out to your loved ones here at Crossroads - Delta. Join us for a meal. Join us for an activity. We think our community is most vibrant when extended family members come and share time with us here, eating, singing, sharing a story, playing bingo or enjoying a stroll on our beautiful campus.
This summer we experienced the joy of many new residents and staff joining our community. This has brought new energy to our entire campus. We warmly welcome our new residents and their families. If you are in one of the cottages, (we call this IL for Independent Living), please make a beeline to the Assisted Living (we call this AL) dining room and join in our activities or share a meal with a new friend. If you are new to AL, you are soon to be amazed at how much fun you’ve been missing prior to arriving here. If your loved one has transitioned to, or newly joined, our Memory Care community (we call this MC), you are going to find your stress wash away as they receive the most loving care anywhere in Delta, Montrose, or Grand Junction.
The IL community and the AL community have their own monthly resident’s councils where you are encouraged to participate. The MC community has a monthly support group. These groups are where residents and their loved ones will learn of special upcoming activities, share any concerns you may have, enjoy gifting our caregiver employee of the month and in the MC support group, even learn new ways to relate with those experiencing dementia and Alzheimer’s.
We want the holidays that are coming to be a happy time. Our primary goal continues to be Peace of Mind Living for you and our residents. Your loved one is cared for. Thank you for making Crossroads at Delta home for those you love. Have a great October.

Update from Maranatha

Charles Eddy was bored. He had been cooped up in his home with his wife Nadine through six weeks of last year’s Canadian winter, and he wanted something interesting to do. His wife, hearing about a Maranatha project at Camp Hope, a retreat facility in British Columbia, signed him up. “I needed something to do,” said Charles. The camp, local to Charles and Nadine, made it easily doable. On the work site Charles smoothed out the freshly poured concrete on the main walkway. He was one of more than 30 volunteers who worked on a number of renovations, from painting to flooring to light electrical to installing panels on a massive ceiling. In just two and a half weeks the group accomplished a long list of tasks.
This was Charles’ first project. But not likely his last. Says Nadine, “He called me every night from the project. He was happy working: He was meeting new friends.” And Charles says, “It was a beautiful experience. I really enjoyed the fellowship and the love of the different participants.”

Maranatha Volunteers International, a non-profit, Christian organization, mobilizes volunteers to build churches, schools, water wells, and other urgently needed structures around the world. To learn more, scan this code, go to www.maranatha.org or visit the Maranatha channel.

Sam goes to the doctor for his yearly checkup. “Everything is fine”, said the doctor, “You’re doing OK for your age.” “For my age?” questioned Sam, “I’m only 75, do you think I’ll make it to 80? “Well” said the doctor, “do you drink or smoke?” “No” Sam replied. “Do you eat fatty meat or sweets?” “No,” said Sam, “I’m very careful about what I eat.” “How about your activities? Do you engage in thrilling behaviors like speeding or skiing? “No,” said Sam taken aback, “I would never engage in dangerous activities.” “Well,” said the doctor, “then why in the world would you want to live to be 80?
