Red Iron’s Corner Since 1977, Crossland Construction has transformed from a small local construction company into a leader within our industry. We’ve expanded into a regional company with eight offices, maintaining licenses in 37 states. We’ve expanded our subcontractor base by working with over 1,300 subcontractors to complete over 1,100 jobs each year. Last but not least, we’ve expanded on our client services.

Crossland continually strives to be good stewards of our client’s finances, treating every project as important as the other, and upholding our client relationships as our most valued commodity.

As we look to the future, I am excited about the opportunities that lay ahead, knowing that to achieve these we must continue our transformation. Over the last year, a small group of individuals has been working hard to develop a strategic plan to guide us through the coming years. Our primary objective is to ensure Crossland remains a great place to work and continually provide opportunities for employee growth for generations to come. We have set our sights on two main goals that we feel will both bolster and propel our company going forward.

EDUCATIONAL & TRAINING PROGRAM The Crossland Construction Education Department was honored to receive the award for Outstanding Achievements in Construction Industry Workforce Development at the 2015 Awards of Excellence celebration in Houston, Texas. Bestowed by the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT), the Construction Industry Workforce Awards recognizes extraordinary, exemplary, and innovative training and education programs that lead others to a career in the construction industry. Clay Kubicek, Crossland’s Education Director, attended the awards ceremony, and received the award on Crossland’s behalf. “It was an honor to accept this award for Crossland, especially considering the number of large and respectable companies who also submitted for it. It’s a great feeling to be part of Crossland’s award winning team. Crossland’s core values shine through its investment in training and development,” said Mr. Kubicek.

The Crossland Academy, Crossland’s internal education program, trains and retains their employees through innovative on-the-job-training programs, registered apprenticeships, mentoring, individual learning plans, and clearly defined career paths. Crossland Construction Company genuinely believes that the company’s greatest asset is their employees, and devotes considerable resources to the skill development and lifelong learning of their team members.

Since 2004, the Crossland Connection, Crossland’s external educational program, has exposed over 8,000 middle school, junior high, and high school students to career opportunities in the construction industry through this business/schools partnership. As a result, 2200+ students have received their National Center for Construction Education and Research module completions in Core, Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, and Electrical. CROSSLAND DONATES 11 ACRES TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL SPORTS PARK

JOHN PRIEST NAMED COMPANY PRESIDENT Crossland Construction is pleased to announce the promotion of Mr. John Priest to President of the company. Mr. Bennie Crossland, President since 2002, will continue to contribute to Crossland’s success as Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective November 6, 2015.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Mr. Priest has been with Crossland for 17 years and currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife and three children. “I am looking forward to building on the tradition of leadership set

Crossland Construction Company has donated 11 acres of land and their resources toward the development of Crossland Park in Columbus, Kansas.

The facility will include bocce courts, horseshoe courts, a shuffleboard space, a playground, a sand volleyball court, restrooms and a concession stand, practice soccer fields, and a fullsized soccer field.

“When Dad moved our family to Columbus, Kansas, people couldn’t drive down our street without seeing one of us kids walking to the swimming pool or ball fields.

Those places were where we spent our summers.

Parks are important to the growth and experiences of kids. Crossland wanted to give back to the community that so graciously contributed to our childhood memories,” stated Bennie Crossland.

INNOVATIVE OBJECTS Joplin, MO— Crossland Construction was awarded the $3.2 million Innovative Objects three story, structural steel building project in Joplin, Missouri. The 29,100 square foot building’s first floor is home to sales space and a shipping and receiving area; the basement contains an employee break room and large server room. This high-tech facility has a theater room and demonstration kitchen. Interior finishes include polished concrete floors. The exterior is stone and stucco, with plenty of windows for natural light. Color-changing lighting washes the exterior walls at night.

BASEBALL STADIUM

Joplin, MO— For the first time in more than 40 years, the MSSU Baseball Program has a field on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri and Crossland Construction was awarded the project contract. The new $2.6 million Warren Turner Field can accommodate 600 fans. The facility has batting cages and bullpens, and artificial field turf to reduce the number of weather delays and game cancellations.

Additional features include a full concessions stand, two luxury suites, and a top-ofthe-line press box. The fans have an impressive view; the bleachers were installed on top of both dugouts and the press box.

SILOAM SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL

FOOTBALL STADIUM Siloam Springs, AR—The Siloam Springs School District chose Crossland Construction to complete their new high school football stadium. The scope of work for the project included the building of a press box and grandstands for 4,500 people around an existing turf field. It also included a new ticket booth, home and visitor team lockers, and concessions buildings. Team fans can now enjoy an athletic experience in style and comfort, and athletes are sure to appreciate their updated facilities.

Despite inclement weather, Crossland crews worked diligently with the school to keep the project on schedule and on budget. As always, we are proud to have contributed to the Siloam Springs community through this special project.

POND CREEK SILOS Pond Creek, OK— The Pond Creek Silos in Pond Creek, Oklahoma was multifaceted project. The $1.8 million contract included construction of four 100-foot tall sand silos, one 135foot tall sand elevator, two dump truck pits, one conveyor pit, two railroad crossings, one metal office building, one cover structure, and paving. Each task required special drawings from vendors that included unique design elements.

The vast majority of the job was completed using High Early concrete, which is a special purpose concrete producing higher ultimate strength. Gang forms were used for all large pit walls. The large sand elevator was used in similar fashion to an erector set; we were able to assemble the sand elevator in sections on the ground, lifting those sections upward in 20foot lengths. This method allowed us to cut our erecting time in half. Piles were used for all of the footings. Boom trucks were used to pre-tie large rebar mats and lift them in place.

Once they were taken apart, Crossland had just 14 days to put the railroads back in place. The 16-foot deep conveyor pit had a floor that was 2-feet thick, with 18-inch thick walls.

Crews worked around the clock to complete these phases of the project.

After completion of the original contract of three pits

and silos, the Owner asked us to design two on-site metal buildings.

The smaller of the two is used as office

space. The other larger cover structure was built over the

conveyor pit to cover the train cars as they dump sand into the pit. Because this phase was a design/build project, we employed an engineer to design footings, contracted a metal building vendor, and proceeded with construction.

Springdale, AR— Crossland Heavy Contractors was proud to have been chosen to build the new Tyson Data Center, located 15 miles from their Springdale world headquarters. The $14.7 million facility provides this global organization state-of-the-art technology with which to manage their information. From the complexities of the Data Center floor installation to the coordination of the scheduling, Crossland crews were challenged daily.

Crossland Heavy crews used cloud-based data technology to exchange information with all personnel involved in the project.

Our ability to self-perform various aspects of the job helped keep the schedule on track, despite the lack of on-site construction space.

Through the collaborative efforts of our team, the Owner, and the subcontractors, Crossland Heavy Contractors delivered a facility that will serve this multinational corporation for years to come.

Crossland Heavy received the 2016 ABC of Arkansas Excellence in Construction Award for this spectacular project.
