Red Iron’s Corner The Red Iron Corner started with our founder, Ivan Crossland Sr, whom passed away just over 12 years ago. Each and every time I have the opportunity to write this letter, I can’t help but think of how Dad used it to reflect and give thanks for the past year and all that we had accomplished. Dad was always so proud of our employees. Many of you started working for our company because of him; others because of our investment in education; some because you wanted to be a part of a growing company that is a top builder in the U.S.; or maybe you are here to simply build a future for your family. Whatever the reason is, we would like to thank you for being a part of our team and choosing Crossland. We are so very appreciative of each and every one of our employees. Dad was always thankful for the owners who awarded us their project. Our customers are giving us the honor of building their company’s future. This year, we have been blessed to partner with school districts that educate our future, hospitals that heal the sick, and businesses that create products that make our lives better. It is exciting and an honor to be part of that. He’d always encourage us to take time with family during the holidays—family was extremely important to Dad. I hope each of you were able to carve that time out to enjoy your kids, call your parents, hug your spouse or see your friends. I know this industry can be tough at times and our families and friends are our anchors. And finally, he’d humbly give thanks to the good Lord above for the year behind and ask Him to bless the year ahead and like him, we respectfully offer the same petition. An Office with a VIEW PINNACLE SPRINGS I & II Core Architects Rogers, AR— The Pinnacle Springs buildings feature impressive

Amidst the booming Pinnacle area in Northwest Arkansas, nestled into the hillside above Osage Spring, you will find two new office buildings, Pinnacle Springs I and II. These impressive hilltop structures offer peace and serenity amid the busy area below. 4

architecture and design that create a striking finished product for the buildings’ tenants, which include architects, engineers, designers and business professionals. Pinnacle Springs Building I is home to the building’s designer, Core Architects, who occupies a portion of the lower level along with HP Engineering. Core Architects’ interior is light and airy with storefront windows comprising two sides of the open office floorplan. The entryway is unique with a wall that utilizes wood reclaimed from trees on the site, exposed ceilings, and polished concrete floors. Also, the lower level features a walkout basement with a retaining wall that was finished using a unique form system during construction. This exposed concrete serves as an interesting feature wall inside both Core Architects and HP Engineering’s spaces.

Core Brewery’s space features exposed ceilings, a custom bar, and chalkboard paint finishes behind the bar area. It has an impressive floor to ceiling storefront system with large patio doors that can be opened seamlessly to the impressive patio area overlooking the bustling Pinnacle Hills area.

Granbury, TX

As one of Aldi Stores select contractors, Crossland Construction has had the privilege of delivering numerous stores to communities across the nation. These two stores were recently constructed in Texas, under the management of our Prosper, Texas team. Granbury, TX— The nationwide chain has become a household name for many consumers who regularly shop at Aldi Stores for competitive pricing and consistent product quality. The new 17,000 square-foot store, located in Granbury, Texas is composed of structural steel with a cast stone and brick veneer, as well as metal panels and a TPO roofing system. Considered a new design prototype for the large grocery chain, this Aldi utilizes more stucco and cast stone than stores built in years past. These design adaptations create a charming, warm façade that enhances the surrounding landscape. This particular store was completed nearly a month early; a great success for the project team and the owner!

Waxahachie, TX— This new store location was retrofitted into an existing structure, which was demoed down. The existing slab was removed and Crossland crews re-poured a new foundation. Next crews installed shoring with needle beams to ensure the panels would stay in place. The project began to take shape, gradually becoming an 18,000 square-foot store wrapped in cast stone and brick metal panels including a new storefront. The project came to an attractive finish and was completed on time and within budget. The store hosted an autumn grand opening that

SPROUTS FARMERS MARKET Lenexa, KS— Sprouts Farmers Market recently opened up its doors in Lenexa, Kansas and is sure not to disappoint customers. Sprouts is a specialty grocer that focuses on fresh and health conscious foods and goods, produce, and more. This striking new store was constructed in conjunction with a large existing structure that was once a big box retailer. Sprouts’ nearly 30,000 squarefoot portion of the building included many new improvements, such as all new utilities, 26 skylights and HVAC systems. The building’s interior features a warm, welcoming color scheme along with stained concrete floors and natural stone tiles from a local quarry. The building’s exterior is a combination of EIFS and masonry elements. Considerable structural steel was also required to support the attractive front façade. There were three other tenants to be mindful of during the construction of this project, and our construction team was required to separate the necessary utilities and provide service for all of them while one retailer remained in business. All existing finishes and utilities were removed from the future Sprouts space without interruption of the adjacent tenants service; a great accomplishment. Crossland Construction considers it a privilege to build facilities such as this in the areas we live and work. Our team would like to wish Sprouts years of prosperity in their beautiful new location!

red robertson FIELD IMPROVEMENTS Miami, OK— Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College was in need of many upgrades to their current football stadium; working with the City of Miami, they took this as an opportunity to develop a year round special event center for the college, Miami Public Schools and the local community. The Red Robertson Field Improvements were completed in two phases. Phase I, which was completed in time for the start of the 2013 school year, included the removal of the old grass playing field followed by the earthwork necessary to raise the elevation approximately 2’, preparing it for synthetic, competition grade turf. A drainage system was also put into place during the first phase along with new goal posts and field lighting. Not part of the original project, but later added to Crossland’s scope was a new scoreboard featuring a large LED video display board. Phase II of the project comprised of new seating, a press box structure, training area, public restrooms, concession areas and a locker room for the Miami High School football team. Also included in this phase was the addition of six luxury private suites and an administrative suite that features vinyl backed stadium seats, solid surface bars and multiple televisions. A 2,500 seat bleacher system was also part of the construction with 100% back rest for added comfort and fully welded treads. Wrought iron fencing surrounds the facility along with a large arched ticket booth structure at the main entrance. The exterior of the building features blended brick and EIFS to match NEO’s campus standards. The new complex will serve as a neutral site for a handful of area football rivalry games. In fact, in November of 2014 Robertson Field hosted the NJCAA Region 2 men’s and women’s soccer tournaments. A harsh winter and unique space challenges during the project design created an extremely challenging schedule, where our crews worked overtime during the summer months, sometimes six to seven days a week to maintain the schedule. In spite of any challenges, Crossland finished the project not only on schedule but under budget as well. The final result of this project is a spectacular event center that will be great for the college and will allow Miami High School and Middle School a facility for their sports championships, band competitions and other various school events.

auto truck group Kansas City, MO— In December of 2013, Auto Truck Group (ATG), a vehicle upfitter headquartered in Bartlett, Illinois, chose Crossland Construction to be their Design-Builder on the new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Kansas City, MO. ATG is one of the leading work truck upfitters in North America, where they specialize in the design, manufacture and installation of truck equipment for a wide variety of customers, trades and industries. This 70,000 square-foot facility was needed in order to consolidate two of ATG’s older Kansas City facilities. This particular location is large enough to upfit more than 100 vehicles concurrently, with 100 production bays and nearly

Award WINNING PROJECTS ABC OKLAHOMA EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AWARD Crossland Heavy Contractors recently won a prestigious award in the ABC of Oklahoma arena— the Excellence in Construction Award in Heavy Construction for the Broken Arrow Water Treatment Plant Improvements Project! The award was received on October 23rd during the annual awards banquet where key members of the project team were recognized. The Broken Arrow Project spanned over two years, and resulted in a complete upgrade of the facility, as well as the largest public micro-filtration system in the entire state of Oklahoma. ABC HEART OF AMERICA EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AWARD The ABC Heart of America Chapter recently awarded Crossland Construction a prestigious Excellence in Construction Award for the 39 Rainbow Phase II project. This 105,000 square-foot four-story facility features retail, restaurant and health care space for it’s tenants. Serving as Construction Manager for the project, Crossland managed the building envelopes construction, as well as the tenant infills for each floor. Our project team did an incredible job on this project, and we are grateful that they were recognized for their hard work by ABC’s Heart of America Chapter.

AGC OF KANSAS AWARD OF HONOR The Pinamonti Wellness Center in Pittsburg, KS received an Award of Honor for the AGC of Kansas. This exceptional facility spans 27,000 square feet and features two levels of exercise and rehabilitation space. With state-of-theart workout equipment, a hydrotherapy and fitness pool, yoga, pilates and aerobics studios, as well as an interior running track, this facility is truly a bar setter for southeast Kansas. Galena, KS — As the community of Galena, Kansas continues to grow, the schools are in need of more space and security to accommodate such growth. With community support of a bond issue passed to make improvements to USD 499 School District, Crossland Construction had the privilege of serving as Construction Manager for the $8 million project for Spring Grove Elementary and Galena High School. The gymnasium and science classrooms were both built in 1963 and in need of some well deserved renovations. The 42,000 square-foot addition included a brand new high school gymnasium, fitness center, and storm shelter. Spring Grove Elementary also received more classroom space and a storm shelter as well. Not only are the students benefiting from these improvements but area residents who live within the school district can use the fitness center free of cost. The expansion also helps the community by providing a storm shelter and a sense of security from Kansas’ unpredictable weather. In fact, the storm shelters located within the new gymnasium’s locker rooms are capable of holding over 1,000 people. Crossland teams self-performed the earthwork, concrete, steel, rough and finish carpentry associated with this project. These additions and renovations are sure to offer not only the district but the community a sense of comfort for their children, educators and staff for years to come. Crossland is grateful to have been a part of such an important project to our neighboring community in Galena, Kansas.

NORTHSIDE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT HEADWORKS PROJECT AND DIGESTERS 3 & 4 PROJECT

Tulsa, OK— Crossland Heavy Contractors (CHC) recently completed multiple improvements and a new construction at the Northside Wastewater Treatment Plant which included the Headworks Project and the Digesters 3 and 4 Project. Construction first began on the Northside Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks project in November 2011. This $13.2 million project included construction of a new Headworks facility with a cast-in-place concrete structure and an EIFS exterior. Throughout construction, the existing facility was kept operational, posing a unique challenge for the project crew. The shoring and reshoring and miscellaneous concrete work was challenging on this three level structure. By the end of the project over 5,000 yards of concrete was put in place and 85% of the entire project was completed by CHC’s team. But despite any challenges faced, with extensive coordination, the plant staff and project team ensured the success of this project. The Northside Wastewater Treatment Plant Digesters 3 and 4 Project started in July 2012; a $5.6 million project that required the rehabilitation of the Digester 3 and 4 Complex. The project included the demolition of all existing equipment and piping, as well as the demolition of both 90-foot diameter floating steel covers. Then a pair of new 90’ diameter concrete digester lids were constructed. This proved to be challenging requiring the team to install cast-in-place concrete that was 90-feet in diameter and 30-feet in the air. Also, a new hydraulic mixing system, instrumentation and control equipment, stainless steel gas piping, and stainless steel gas foam separators were installed. In addition to the rehab of the digesters, the project allowed the city to utilize bio gas in lieu of natural gas to fuel the boilers to heat sludge for treatment. This will save the city approximately $20,000 per month! This portion of the project proved most challenging for CHC due to the complexity of the bio gas system. But with careful planning and coordination, the team was able to complete the projects successfully with all systems performing functionally as designed. 18
