Infill of a 205,000 SF Existing Warehouse
The Orizon project in Olathe was a $8.1 million, Design-Build contract for a structure spanning 205,000 SF. A manufacturer of aerospace parts, the project included very specific elements that were a first in terms of installation.
A new, precast concrete building includes 16,000 SF of two-story office space; the remaining space is used for manufacturing and support rooms.
The large equipment, direct from Germany, was placed on foundations resting on drilled piers, socketed into rock. The manufacturing space is climate-controlled, with LED lighting and polished, concrete floors. Despite the very aggressive schedule and several Owner scope additions, the project was completed on time and on budget.

Keeping Operations Airborne While Building Anew
This 25,900 SF terminal overhaul was anything but simple. From day one, the mission was clear: keep flights moving and passengers safe while delivering a modern facility that meets today’s travel expectations. Through strategic phasing, thoughtful logistics, and constant coordination with airport personnel, Crossland ensured that not a single day of operations was lost. Arriving passengers, TSA checkpoints, baggage claim, everything remained open, just behind carefully orchestrated construction zones.
Over 23 months, Crossland self-performed multiple scopes, from concrete and steel to finish carpentry, keeping quality and momentum in sync. Prefab elements also played a key role in streamlining the schedule without compromising aesthetics.
The result: a state-of-the-art terminal that serves as a bold new welcome to Western Kansas - built without grounding a single flight.

But we rank Top in the Nation!
To be on any of the ENR (Engineering News Record) lists is an honor - they are well-known and respected across our industry. However, we know that numbers and rankings, well, are just numbers and rankings. It’s the people behind the scenes that matter.

call us sentimental
In loving memory of our founder, Ivan “Red Iron” Crossland, Sr.

We had a unique start, which we think explains a lot about us.
Ask any one of our 1900+ employees what our founder, Ivan Crossland, Sr., stood for—every single one would say family, honesty , and hard work. Those values are engrained in everything we do.
our story
Our story began in 1977 with our founder, the late Ivan Crossland, Sr., lovingly known as ‘Red Iron’. He started Crossland Construction out of the family garage with a wife and ten kids at home. His optimism, integrity, work ethic, and grit led him to success in every endeavor. His story became the embodiment of The American Dream, but more importantly, it continues to inspire us every day.
Today, we are humbled by our continued growth over the years. Still family-owned and operated, we have expanded to four companies, nine office locations, over 1,900 dedicated employees, and rank in the top 100 construction firms in the nation. We continue to serve under Ivan Sr.’s belief that if you dream big, remain humble, and work hardgreat things are possible.
