A WORD FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
CREATING POSITIVE IMPACTS Dear readers, A warm welcome from Cross-Cultural Learners’ Magazine (CCLM) and hope you enjoyed our previous issues. Issue 3 of the revamped CCLM, in both its digital and print versions, continues to look into lives of people from different social and cultural backgrounds in Hong Kong who strive to realize their dreams. Entitled “The Power to Change”, this issue first takes a peep into the the creativity-filled school life of ethnic minority students from Kwai Chung Methodist College, a local Chinese-medium secondary school with a mission to provide all-round and inclusive education. The second feature article, in line with its cover story counterpart, explores the inspired lives of five creative professionals based in different parts of Greater China who keep criss-crossing forms of art known or unknown to them. Again, our heartfelt thanks to the students and teachers who submitted written pieces and artwork for our “Submissions” (學生投稿) section. The sight of the overflowing submission inbox was surely an achievement unlocked! After an even longer discussion this time, the Editorial Board has hand-picked a versatile collection for you to enjoy with friends, teachers, and family. This issue’s featured artist is YuSeng (a.k.a. Gene Maverick Lam Santos 洪迦南) from Delia Memorial School (Broadway), whose meticulously hand-drawn fan art comics should capture your imagination in no time! The editors are also grateful for the schools that newly joined our hub of creativity, namely Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School, Tak Oi Secondary School, and Buddhist Wong Cheuk Um Primary School. Following the “Submissions” section you will find a number of columns specially dedicated to Chinese language learning, food, and local culture in this issue. Mr. Wa-man Cheung, our very experienced contributor and Chinese character learning specialist, tells us the stories behind soccer, one of the best-loved sports in the world. The third part of Mr. Joe Tsui’s food journey takes us to the minuscule world of salt in his ever-heartwarming narrative. “Small Talk After Class” is a new addition CCLM where you will find teachers’ sharings and insights on Chinese language - and more! And, as promised, fashion designer Ms. Ruby Mok is sharing a handful of smart tips with our female readers on perfecting your look with head wraps and a splash of innovation. Last but not least, I would like to thank our funding body, advisors, contributing writers, interviewees, liaisons, project colleagues, and members of the Editorial Board who made this third issue possible. As a magazine by students for students, our multicultural team of editors are mostly HKU undergraduates and graduands, who have taken up the challenge of keeping this informative online magazine relevant to our young and ever-growing digital readership. Zonia is a name well-known to ethnic minority students in Hong Kong. She writes beautiful Chinese essays. She is also a frequent winner in Cantonese and Putonghua speech contests for non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students. Do you recognize her face?

馬文琪看起來很文靜，一副「讀書很好的學姊」的模樣。不過呢，你看，當 她跟好友們在一起的時候，動作馬上變得活潑！這四個女孩子裏面，有一位 笑得特別燦爛。她是誰？
Zonia has a calm, pleasant look. You know that senior who always keeps her cool and gets top grades. Anyways, look, she could be an active little girl at heart – whenever she’s with her besties. Oh wait. Who’s that young lady wearing the broadest smile in the photo?

就是這幅畫的作者囉。 你認識她嗎？ 簡艾心跟馬文琪一樣，口齒伶俐，朗誦很厲害，也會唱歌。 不過，她的作品，大部分是圖畫。她給圖畫拍了照，用手機傳給我，慷慨與我分享。我一 看，不得了！馬上邀請她投稿，她也答應了。
The answer: The name shown beneath the painting and its title. Do you know her? Like Zonia, Sadiyah Khan is also an eloquent speaker and good singer. Most of her works are paintings though. A couple of years ago, she took snapshots of her artwork and generously shared them with me on mobile. Whoa! That’s too nice to miss! So I invited her to contribute to CCLM right away. Was overjoyed when she said yes!

亞美和君晴是一對寶。 她們不是雙生兒，只是她們的名字常常同時出現。她們一起參加比賽、一起投稿、 一起讀書、一起嬉戲；而她們的祖籍，也一樣是巴基斯坦。
如果你在現實裏認識亞美，你應該會記得她開朗的笑聲，以及工整漂亮的字體。而 另一位呢，她有一個古雅的中文名字，叫王君晴。 Areebah and Bibi stay close and stay fun. They are not twins though – it just happens that their names often appear together on all kinds of school documents. They join forces in competitions, writing campaigns, study groups, and games. They are both ethnically Pakistani too. If you know Areebah in real life, you will remember her hearty laughs and neat handwriting. And her friend Bibi Mahreen has an poetic, elegant Chinese name, which means “imperial sunshine”.

她們的學弟妹 The Younger KCMCers 葵涌循道中學（葵循）是一所中文學校。他們的非華語學生不多，而且 中文程度頗高，貼近母語人士。他們的文言閱讀理解成績還不錯呢。

Kwai Chung Methodist College (KCMC) is a Chinese-medium school. They have only a small number of NCS students who are pretty good at Chinese. They speak fluent Chinese like natives – and understand Classical Chinese too. Isn’t it amazing? This Christian school welcomes students from different backgrounds. You can tell the religious belief of the girls from their outfits, eh?

莫柏謙 Muhammad Ibrahim 莫柏謙真是人如其名，非常謙虛。他不承認自己想像力豐富，只說他喜歡做手工。 他做了一個神奇的盒子，裏面藏著照片、文字和圖畫。把盒子打開，一整個西九龍 就跑出來了；沿著立體的步道走，可以了解不同的景點，就像實地跑了一趟似的。 每個字都是他一筆一畫寫出來的，而且他也樂意一字一句地，與大家仔細分享其中 的故事。
誰說男孩子就一定粗枝大葉呢？ Muhammad Ibrahim’s Chinese name is a perfect match for his personality. He’s literally modest for sure! He said it’s all because of his love for handicraft, and NOT any incredible power of imagination. Look at this little magic paper box he made. It’s a maze-like 3D structure in which you’d find photos, texts, and drawings about the West Kowloon Cultural District. Open it up and immerse yourself in the details about different points of interest. The information is comprehensive and useful. Muhammad handcrafted everything out of scratch, while explaining everything word by word with much patience. Who say boys don't pay attention to details?

女孩子的版本 Ladies’ Versions 馬芷恩和姚倩文讓我看她們自家版本的盒子，上面 有很多心心，看的出來花了不少時間和功夫。 我們三個一聊起來就沒完沒了。 沙嗚啦開始發出聲音。 Bibi Iquaa and Imran Saman showed me their own designs of the magic box. It’s heart-shaped origami plus a whole lot of paper cutting, pasting, and writing. Once our convo started there’s no way of stopping us. I knew, it must be girl power! Suddenly I heard some noises. ”Sana…?”

沙嗚啦 Sana Ullah 沙嗚啦的目光，猶如鷹隼般銳利。 不過，別擔心，他說話超爆笑，一點都不會過份嚴肅。 也別以為沙嗚啦受傷了，就只能坐在長桌的一端發呆。 他單手也可以打球，技術精湛。看人不能看表面！ Sana Ullah has a pair of sharp eyes. Like eagles. Don’t worry though – he’s a funny guy at heart and won’t give you solemn looks. He broke his left arm and could have been left all alone at the other end of the long table. But see for yourself - he controls the ball so well with his uninjured arm that you might wanna ask him why! Never judge a book by its cover.

莫哈 Mohammed Waqar 莫哈是個開朗的男孩，嘴邊總是掛著笑容 。 莫哈喜歡運動，能集中，反應快。他很會打板球。 莫哈跟沙嗚啦是好朋友。 莫哈的話不多。 但是，只要你願意問，他都願意回答。 Waqar is a happy boy. He always wears a broad smile. . Waqar loves sports. He is focused and fast. He is very good at cricket. Waqar and Sana are good friends. Waqar doesn’t talk much. Anyway, as long as you’re willing to ask, he’d be ready to answer your questions.

我想知道 Getting Curious 久聞葵循非華語學生的創意與活力，後 來透過校際活動和學生來稿，更得以親
眼目睹。這不是空穴來風，也不是忽然 熱血，更不單因為他們有位學長叫陳 豪。
為了探究箇中因由，我和同事們特意來到葵循。我期待在對話中找到答案。
I’d heard the NCS KCMCers are highly creative and full of energy. Having eyewitnessed their enthusiasm and competence in inter-school events and student submission, I reckoned that it’s neither born out of nowhere nor a sudden surge of adrenaline – and of course not simply because they have a past student and successful actor named Moses Chan. Out of curiosity, I decided to come to KCMC with my colleagues to find out why. And it turned out that…

將心比己 In Their Shoes 前陣子李施恩老師代表學校參加了兩個大型國際會議，與聽眾分享葵循的非華語 中文教學成果，因此一開始我先找她談談。她與陳雅文老師是很好的拍檔，兩位 都擁有任教非華語學生的經驗，常常一起討論，研發不同的教學策略，再應用到 日常課堂裏。
然後我們採訪學生。進行了一半的時候，陳老師悄悄問我，某位已接受訪問的同 學可以離開位子一陣子，先吃午餐嗎？那時候正值穆斯林守齋的日子，而那位同 學祖籍巴基斯坦。我聽畢匆匆說好，只是一下子還沒反應過來，已見陳老師帶同 學到角落的桌子。同學小心翼翼地把便當盒打開，而陳老師在旁觀察，並為他張 羅餐具，囑他不用急，要細細咀嚼。
Ms. Joanna Lee, as a delegate of KCMC, participated in two major international conferences and shared their experience in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. That’s the core reason why I chose to talk to her first. Ms. Lee and Ms. Nga-man Chan form a small but very strong team. They have been developing and trying out different teaching strategies together. We later turned to the students for the next part of the interview. Halfway through the session, Ms. Chan asked me in whisper if a Muslim student having finished with the interview could be excused for a quick lunch. It was Ramadan and I didn’t quite get what’s happening. I said yes amidst confusion before Ms. Chan led the well-behaved boy to another end of room. She kept him company during his quiet consumption of homemade boxed lunch.

就做你自己 It’s Okay to Be Who You Are 很少看到非華語同學遇到校長，會「勇敢地」主動跟對方寒暄一番。但看來我遇 到例外的情況了。葵循的高年級同學遇到林美儀校長，打過招呼後，馬上聊起天 來！
無論是少女心事，還是求學之路，言談之間沒有批判，同學們保持一派自若。輕 鬆、坦然的感覺是裝不出來的。據說林校長還會在午膳時候抽空親自為某些校內 學生「補習」，解答他們功課上的疑難。
It‘s not exactly common to see NCS students chat (even briefly) with their school principals when they run into each other. These senior form students are probably an exception – they simply started chatting with Ms. Maggie Lam, their principal, right after their encounter in the corridor! Be it teenage concern or academic performance, the scope of their chat remained non-judgmental. See how relaxed and honest the students were! These attributes are apparently natural – you can’t fake your feelings! By the way, I was told that Ms. Lam also tutors KCMC students during lunch time if need be.

A native of Wenzhou in Zhejiang, China, Gillian Qiqi JIN holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Beijing Normal University and a master’s degree in Journalism from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. 依我看來，本地語言學得好不好，不 只看語言天份，而是跟個人決定有
關，要看你多想在這個地方生活，以 及到底有沒有退路。如果畢業後想要 繼續在香港生活，廣東話就一定要學 好。學本地語言最有效的方法是在現 實生活中與人交流，例如跟本地同學 講話，或者選修廣東話授課的科目。

樣。前者是預設給別人看，你可以從讀者 以及反應如何。經典學院派新聞訓練強調 新聞是第四權，具有監察功能；但監察並 不是站在甲方指責乙方，而是事實本身已 經有足夠的力量。發現真相很刺激，也很 有成就感！

您在大學主修的科系，跟插畫的關係大不

好。人生也一樣，每次挑戰 都會有辛苦的時候，但只要
勇敢面對，平時多加讀書學 習、充實自己，這樣下一個
挑戰到來時，我們便可以做 得更好。至於在球區內取 分，這個令我學會在人生

我亦很欣賞排球運動的精神，例如接發球 的一環，說的不是取分數，而是面對對方
讀中學的女兒規劃安排。可以跟我們的年 沒問題！雙職媽媽最大的困難就是取得平 衡。在我來說，時間是世上最公平的其中
一種東西，每人每天都只得二十四小時。 所以如何把握時間，還有如何在對的時間 點上做對的事，都是十分重要的。
強而有力的發球時的態度，作為排球員，
正當我準備跟夥伴們創辦化妝學校，我也
好準備去迎接發球。 另外，因為隊友留在

出生於香港。中學畢業後從事藝術工作，其後入讀香港中文大學校外進修部（今為 香港中文大學專業進修學院）中國書畫課程，師從著名藝術家陶澐。現為香港中國 美術會會員，擅長工筆花鳥畫，亦能山水，作品曾於多個畫展展出。
Susanna Oi-wah YUNG was born and educated in Hong Kong. She has been working as an artist since finishing high school. A graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Extramural Studies (now School of Continuing Studies) where she studied under the renowned artist Mr. Wan TAO, Ms. YUNG specializes in fine-brush flower-and-bird painting and shan shui. She is currently a Member of the Hong Kong Chinese Art Club (HKCACL) and her works have been exhibited at various art events and venues.

請問您打從甚麼時候開始接觸國畫創作？ 自幼家中從事藝術工作，所以對不同藝術形式都很有興趣。我在十九歲那年，於 好奇心的驅使下參加了中文大學舉辦的中國山水畫校外課程，在那裏認識了陶澐 老師。原來他太太是我小學時期的中文老師，這世界真是太細小了！

跟陶老師學習國畫後，我發現自己對工筆
本人在1977年認識陶澐老師，跟隨他學習

花鳥畫興趣更濃。花鳥畫即是描繪花鳥、 雀、牡丹和荷花。牡丹代表富貴，而且它
顏色豔麗，討人歡喜；而荷花和牡丹相 反，它雅淡清香，而且脫俗，每當看到荷 花盛開時，不期然覺得心曠神怡。孔雀體 型龐大，可獨立入畫局，而且色彩華麗，
經歷和感受嗎？
山水畫，到了1980年轉研工筆花鳥畫，並 會。參加美術會讓我有機會可以觀摩其他 畫友的畫風，從而吸收他們畫法。我期望 他日能舉辦個人畫展，與更多人分享自己 的作品。

很多人說思考重要，而學習不重要。他們不明白為甚麼很多同學花時 間去學習。他們認為只要懂得思考就足夠了。
然而，我不認同這些人的看法。思考與學習同樣重要；只思考而不努
力學習新知，最後不會取得成果。想和做是相關的，思考和學習亦 然。
如果你只思考卻不學習，你不會有實踐的過程，難以成功。光是觀察 而不去試驗，那就是空想，不會帶來進步。例如上數學課的時候，如 果只是動腦筋，而不學習、不做習題，你永遠都無法充分明白課堂內 容。而且，沒有經歷過學習的過程，你不會有成功感。
相反而言，在學校裏，有些學生「用功地」學習，卻沒有仔細思考。 例如學習文言，如果不思考字詞的意思，只死記硬背課文，最終也無 法學會。

小時候，我在菲律賓讀幼稚園。六歲時，我回到香港讀小學，今年是我在香港讀書 的第九年。
我在菲律賓回到香港的時候面對很多困難，因為菲律賓和香港的學習環境很不同。 回到香港後，我每次考試都不合格，不過我的媽媽都會鼓勵我努力學習。她的一句
話「不要放棄」啟發了我，我告訴自己要努力讀書，逐漸便適應了香港的學習環 境。
到小五和小六的時候，我曾經得到全班第一名。我的父母很開心，於是我的中文老 師鼓勵我申請德愛中學。進入德愛後，我又面臨另一番挑戰。首先是學習中文的問 題。我和我的三個小學同學都是非華語學生，我們要跟華語學生一起上中文課時， 這有一定困難。我們的老師幫助我們學習比較簡單的中文。今年我讀中三，更要跟 華語學生一同考中文口試，雖然很困難，但我們的中文老師教導我們考試技巧，並 替我們練習。這些經歷都教我十分難忘。
另外，今年我在學業上落後了很多，因為上學期回到巴基斯坦，所以很多功課我都 跟不上。我老覺得我會留級。不過我的老師和朋友都鼓勵我努力學習，所以我決定 不在學習上落後，我要努力自強。

我的學習經驗
我在香港讀書已經超過十二年，學習過程並不順利，遇到過不少

如：我在考試期間遇到挫折時，會把日常生活中所學到的知識融

困難與挑戰。不過我不會放棄，會用不同的方式解決問題。例 會貫通。當然有時我也會失敗，會怨天尤人，也影響了學習時的 心理素質，但我會積極尋求母親的幫助，她也會常常鼓勵我。
我在學習的過程中有很多難忘的經歷，其中一次是中一的迎新 營。起初我很緊張，因為我除了認識花阿莎以外，便不認識任何 人。幸好我待人接物的技巧還可以，幫助我認識了不少新朋友， 她們也常常鼓勵我學習。我學中文的時候真想放棄，但她們對我 說：「妳要孜孜不倦，努力學習，就會取得良好的成績。」如果 沒有她們這群好朋友，我應該很難取得好成績。在學校的不同活 動中，我們都遇到各種挑戰。這時，我們會合作完成任務，無形 中也讓我更了解她們。
中三選科時，我會考慮自己的興趣，還有自己的能力。因為如果 光有興趣而沒有能力，只會導致學習困難，影響自信；如果你能 順著自己的特長去選科，學起來就會事半功倍，也更容易學有所 成。我正考慮選擇三個科目，因為我長大後想成為一名醫生，而 理科科目對於醫學生來說是很重要的。我期望在考試中能得到比 較高的平均分，可以在中四選修化學，將來可以實現夢想，幫助 病人，貢獻社會。

我的學習經驗 文：花阿莎 德愛中學
對於我來說，學習是生活中最重要的方面。如果不學習，就沒有錦繡的前程。我的 學習生涯至今已經過了九年。
通過這九年的學習，我面對了不同的挫折和壓力。雖然，我時常會面對困難，但我 沒有放棄，例如：我常有不明白的數學題目，我會努力地克服這個問題，我明白世 界上沒有人是完美的，所以我會盡力去改善自己。
我生活中有很多人在身邊激勵我，例如我的父母。他們都希望我謙虛地學習，也希 望我學有所成。雖然我現在的成績不太好，但我都會孜孜不倦地努力學習，培養良 好的品德和修養，運用所學到的東西，對社會作出貢獻。
在我的學習生涯中，曾經有一些難忘的經歷。四年前，我去了馬來西亞參觀考察， 這次活動令我明白思辨能力的重要。生活上，我不僅要學習知識，還要實踐。參加 了這個考察團，令我對於學習更有自信。
今年，我要選擇高中學科，所以我希望可以得到卓越的成績，那麼我便可以選修心 儀的學科，那麼學起來就會事半功倍了。當選擇科目時，我會考慮自己的興趣和能 力。如果我可以公開考試中得到好成績，就可以入讀一所好大學，對未來事業會很 有幫助，例如讓我長大後可以找到好工作，也可以幫助我提升自信。

讀書時我生活中最重要的方面。我的學習生涯已經有十二年。在這十二年 裏，我面對了很多挫折，但都沒有放棄。我媽媽每天都會對我說：「即使你 一事無成，都不應該放棄，努力地繼續學習，因為如果你不輕言放棄，最終 也會學有所成。」
我在學習過程中面對過很多失敗和挫折。在小學時，我的成績一年比一年落 後，因此我很想放棄。但無論在傳授知識方面，還是待人接物方面，我的老 師都會支持和鼓勵。老師常常對我們說：「你們要謙虛誠懇地學習，面對困 難時就要尋求協助，不要依賴別人。」老師說的這句話啟發了我。另外，老 師也曾說過，我們做人要腳踏實地，才可以成功。因為，我升上中學時，我 聽從小學老師所教導的，取得了好成績。雖然我的學業成績不俗，但我不會 驕傲自滿，而是繼續虛心學習。
今年我讀中三，很快就要選科。老師說：「選科時，你不應該按照朋友的選 擇而選科。你應該看自己的能力，因為光看朋友的選擇而選科，自己卻沒有 能力的話，只會導致學習困難。」聽完老師這番話，我明白到選科時，不但 我的學習經驗 文：李芯兒 德愛中學

現代足球起源於英國，是世界上其中一項最受 歡迎的體育運動。足球最早起源於中國古代
的球類遊戲「蹴鞠」，後來經過阿拉伯傳到歐 洲，發展成現代足球。標準的足球比賽由兩隊 各派11名隊員參與，在長方形的草地上互相對
踢、互相進攻，目的就是將足球射入對方的龍 門內，每射入一球就可以得到一分，最後得分 最多的一隊便獲勝。比賽時間為兩個「半場」 （每半場45分鐘），合計90分鐘。如果在比賽
規定時間內得分相同，則須看比賽章則而定， 可以抽籤、加時再賽（30分鐘延長賽）或互射 12碼罰球等形式決定勝負。

在網誌流行的幾年，我開了個叫「餐桌
上，它的甜味登時提高。這實在非常神奇
我之所以取此名，主要是按自己名字「焯

沒有甚麼經驗，弄出來的菜竟然非常的 鹹，味道濃烈得差點不能吃。父母吃後就 問我有沒有用鹽水浸過鹹酸菜，我頓時露
出錯愕的神情，甚麼？鹹酸菜這麼鹹，竟
然用鹽水去浸？但父母的經驗確實不賴， 到了下次再做這道菜的時候，浸過鹽水的 鹹酸菜味道竟然剛好。
第二次發現鹽的魔力是在煲完湯後。我已 經不記得那次是煲甚麼湯，只記得那天我 盛了一大鍋水，把材料統統放進湯鍋開火
後，就趕回客廳看武俠小說。過了兩小
時，父母差不多回家的時候，我打開鍋子
一看，竟然發現鍋子的水沒有怎樣少下
來。我灑了少許鹽，舀了一碗來喝，湯水
淡然無味，就像只把材料浸在鍋子一陣
子，沒有怎樣經過烹調。唉，定是我剛才 太沉迷武俠小說，下得太多水了。父母回 來後，我如實相告。他們看了看鍋中，就
再灑多一匙鹽進去。神奇的事就此發生
了，本來淡然無味的湯，竟然變得很美 味。
長大後，查過書，知道更多所謂鹽的魔
力，例如有解釋說，鹽灑在西瓜上，吸 去了它的水份，令它的甜更集中；又有 說我們嚐完鹽的鹹後，再吃到西瓜的甜，
那種先鹹後甜的「錯覺」，能令嚐到的甜 更甜。我不是科學家，不知道這種講法可 不可信。但憑我的失敗經驗，鹽確實有它 的用途、魔力，難怪在歷史上，鹽曾經是 專利品，只有得到政府批准才可以開採和 發售。順道一提，吃西瓜用的餐桌鹽，俗 稱幼鹽。至於我們在煮菜時用的鹽，則稱 作粗鹽。弟弟跟我一樣，名字裡也有個
「賢」字。有些親戚由於我年長，喜歡叫 我「粗鹽」，弟弟則喚作「幼鹽」。這種 叫法一直用了很多年，當然到了長大後， 我就知道自己「餐桌鹽」非「粗鹽」，他 們弄錯了很多年。不過無論怎樣，鹽雖然 微小、不起眼，卻有著無限的魔力。

語學生的中文教材，課程以岑紹基博士
能，而我們學校的辦學理念「人人可教」
發，發展一套跨級分組、按學生不同能力
學生提供多元學習的機會，讓同學展現潛 ，就是相信只要給予學生發揮的機會及空 間，每一位學生皆可成材。
「人人可教」這個教育理念，適用於每一 位學生的成長及學習需要。以本校非華語 同學為例，佔全校學生比例不高，份屬少 數的一群。他們憑著自己的毅力及勤奮， 在中學階段尋找到自己的道路，向著夢想
出發。記得曾有一位非華語同學，她很 努力要學好中文，最後成功升讀大學翻譯 系，希望日後能幫助她的友儕，克服語言 上的障礙。又有一位剛畢業的學生，完成 高中後修讀幼兒教育，在職業生涯上積極 發展。她們的起步點雖然不同，卻能夠在 不同範疇創出一片天。他們的成長歷程告 訴我們，「人人可教」的方向是正確的，
引進本港的「Reading To Learn」理論出 而設計的中文教學課程，充分配合本校 校情的需要，與我們學校「人人可教」 的理念貼近。課程除了語文教學之外，更 著重生活化的體驗，將生涯規劃與課程結 合，課程中以「職業、夢想」作為主線， 以過往非華語學生畢業後的追夢故事、行 業經歷作為閱讀的素材，貼近他們的生活
之餘，課程內容更與學生的生涯規劃接 軌。計劃進行期間，更安排了香港大學的 學生到校，與我們的學生分享大學生活， 可見整個課程的設計，已經不單從語文學 習的層面出發。這個「以人為本」的課程 設計，與我們學校「活的教育」（Active
Education）的課程發展策略，實有異曲 同工之妙。
也是我們學校一直堅持這個理念的原因。

林老師：對呀！有些同學能聽、能說廣東 話，有些同學卻不太聽得𢤦。於是，我安 排懂得廣東話的學生，坐在不懂得廣東話 的同學旁邊。另外，分組作文的時候，每 一組有四個人，包括不同成績、不同能力 的同學。這樣，他們就能互相幫忙，輕鬆 地完成堂課（classwork）。
小編：那麼，您有沒有教學的秘訣 （secret methods）？
林老師：嗯……中文本身並不容易，也 需要長時間學習，所以我希望可以營造一 個比較輕鬆、快樂的課堂，鼓勵同學在課
堂以外學習中文。不過啊，我對同學的
要求（requirement）還真的挺高的！如 果他們在課堂小測（quiz）和默書（dic-
tation）不能取得七十分以上，需要不斷 重測、重默，希望他們能夠掌握基本功
（the basics），不要輕易放棄（give up easily）。

桌上默默耕耘。可先由《芥子園》初學範本
寫出的線條流暢度與運筆取形的情況，亦要
學習中國畫，要有勤奮、毅力、恆心，在畫 入手，臨習書中技法，打好基礎。如是者， 對樹石、山巒、樓閣與煙雲流水，每樣掌握 激發。當然不會一下子就畫得很像，但要懂 得如何寫是必須的。因為不懂得全面的基本 功，就不可能利用上述所學組合成畫，遇到 不懂得的技法，就會停滯不前了。
初學中國山水畫，行筆不要太快。留心自己 抽時間臨習書法，以練習筆力。有行、楷書 入手就沒錯了。練習書法，對寫畫線條有很 大幫助。從書法上習得運筆線條掌握，效果 一定好。如此，勾寫樹石等物就有筆力，筆 力從書法而來；下筆有力，樹石的線條就有 神（氣），就可在樹石上加上淡墨去加強效 果。這叫渲染，是用淡墨碎去渲點出山石的 陰暗處，增加層次視覺效果。
