Dear Crosby Scholars Participants, Families, Partners and Supporters: 2025 has been a year of meaningful milestones for Crosby Scholars in Iredell County. We celebrated our 10th anniversary of supporting students, bid a fond farewell to our Executive Director, Suzanne Wegmiller upon her retirement, and welcomed new staff members whose enthusiasm and fresh ideas have energized our work. What has not changed is our unwavering belief that supporting local students is the pathway to a successful future. Since 2015, we have offered programs that help students prepare for life after high school— whether their next step is college, the workforce, entrepreneurship, or military service. More than 1,700 program graduates have benefited from countless hours of in‑person training, career exploration, college campus tours, SAT/ACT preparation, financial advising, and more than $275,000 in scholarships. We believe that expanding access to education is essential to building healthy, thriving communities, as educational attainment directly influences lifelong income, access to healthcare, and overall well‑being.

Our vision is for every student to have access to college opportunities— whether that means a two‑year technical program, a community college transfer pathway, a four‑year private college, or a four‑year public university. We believe that all students, regardless of income, background, or lived experience, deserve equitable access to higher education. With a decade of success behind us, we are excited to build on this strong foundation. We remain committed to offering our services—free of charge—to every public middle and high school student in Iredell County, and we look forward to continuing our history of student success in the years ahead. Crosby Community Service Hartness Road Adopt A Street Cleanup Twice annually, students and family members gather in support of the city of Statesville’s “Adopt-A-Street” program, cleaning trash and waste from Hartness Road. Crosby has been a part of the "Adopt A Street" program since 2021.
Mooresville Kindness Closet This summer, Crosby Scholars volunteered with the Mooresville Kindness Closet, helping to gather and package hygiene items for those in need. The hygiene kits were readied for the Western North Carolina Back2School Bash, local Back to School Bash events, and for other students and families in Iredell County. Thanks to our student volunteers and the Kindness Closet!
