The company’s business model revolves around selling new vehicles, vehicles service for in and out-of-warranty vehicles, and selling of spare parts and accessories for reputable vehicle franchises. It also operates an auto body repair shop.
Croco Motors was incorporated as Croco Investments (Private) Limited in October 1988. Although the company was located in Chiredzi, Croco Motors distributed vehicles countrywide.

Croco Motors expanded into Masvingo and continued distributing Mazda vehicles. The highlight in 1998 was the acquisition of the much coveted Nissan dealership which allowed Croco Motors to become a multi-franchised distributor. The high volumes that the company was pushing necessitated the company to move into Harare where it operated from Bond Street Shopping Centre in Mt Pleasant. By 2002, Croco Motors had gained a large market share. A bigger and spacious Head Office was commissioned at Number 1 Telford Road in Graniteside.
In 2004, Croco Motors took over the operations of Kadoma Toyota and renamed it Croco Toyota Kadoma. The entrance of Toyota into the stable boosted the company’s product range and further increased market share although Toyota sales were largely limited to the Kadoma area. Croco Toyota Harare, formerly Nuffield Toyota was also acquired in 2004 facilitating the sales of Toyota sales in Harare. 2005 saw the acquisition of South East Toyota which was renamed Croco South East Toyota whilst Croco Eastlea Panel Beaters (later renamed Auto Body Centre) and Croco Motors Bulawayo were acquired in 2006.

The Croco Commercial & PreOwned Division as well as Croco Nissan were set up in 2007. Pitstop, which offers professional, multi-brand vehicle quick service, repair services and parts in a state-of-the-art facility at 59 Douglas Road, Workington was commissioned in 2016. The company has won numerous awards from various franchises and other stakeholders over the years. Croco Motors continues to grow from strength to strength and further expansion plans are on the cards.
