Part of the growing Cristo Rey Network®, Cristo Rey is the only high school in Minnesota that provides students access to college preparatory academics, professional work experience through the Corporate Work Study Program, and support to and through college, regardless of culture, faith, or creed. Our diverse graduates are joining the workforce, ready to succeed in today’s changing world.

COLLEGE PREPARATORY EDUCATION

CORPORATE WORK STUDY PROGRAM

COLLEGE READY. CAREER PREPARED.

The signature and differentiating component of Cristo Rey schools is the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). Our innovative educational model integrates rigorous academics with professional work experience. Students largely self-finance their Cristo Rey education from which they graduate with beyond-the-classroom evidence that they are college-ready and career-prepared. In turn, CWSP supports workforce development challenges by advancing diverse candidates with the social and technical skills to perform the jobs of our knowledge-based economy.

HOW IT WORKS CWSP is independently incorporated, functioning as an employment agency within a Cristo Rey High School. Cristo Rey students are employees of CWSP, not our business partners. • Partners pay a competitive annual fee for service contract to CWSP. • CWSP manages employment eligibility verification, payroll, insurance taxes, and other employer issues • Students work in a four-person job team to fill one fulltime equivalent position during standard daily business hours, Monday-Friday for the full academic year • Academic schedules are structured so that students work without missing class

“Through the Corporate Work Study Program, I had the privilege of working at Ameriprise Financial in the Global Asset Management Department. During my time at Ameriprise, I really improved my technical skills. My team appreciated my ability to prioritize, work independently and be proactive. I am really excited to take the next step in my education and my career.”

- Briana Mastin '20

“When we bring students who have such great perspectives already into our environment, and then invite them back to come and work for us in the future, we build an incredibly powerful inclusive and diverse culture and environment for our future leaders to be grooming and developing ideas for the future. It feeds and fuels our early career goals by having a close partnership with Cristo Rey.”

- Monica Hamling, Senior Director, Human Capital Partner, UnitedHealth Group

“As a Cristo Rey student, I worked at BMO Harris Bank as a teller. I was good at it because I cared about getting people into a better financial position. Because I was exposed to that experience at such an early age, I knew I wanted to work in banking for the rest of my life. I studied finance in college and once I graduated, when I was thinking about what company should I work for, I considered the companies that Cristo Rey works with -- the companies that are already investing in the community -- the companies that are already investing in diverse talent like me.”

- Saul Hernandez '13 Bank Manager, BMO Harris Bank
