LETTER FROM JASON

Although I am only a few months into my position as President of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the impact of our mission, to unlock each student’s potential to help transform our community, is evident. I have had the opportunity to meet with many of the founding donors and corporate partners, our philanthropic supporters, students, parents, families, faculty, staff, community members, and more. Thank you for your support and passion for our mission.

In reflecting upon these encounters and the generosity of those who support Cristo Rey, I am continually struck by the transformational nature of connection. Pope Francis reminds us that “today’s problems call for a vision capable of taking into account every aspect.” This understanding of connection is one of the hallmarks of the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School experience. Our school community offers a pathway forward using the interconnectedness of high-quality education and an engaged workforce to make a difference.

Today, 100% of our students are back to work and their continued dedication to academic and professional success furthers Cristo Rey’s mission. While we are excited to share that all our students have a work-study placement, we still have many opportunities to expand placements with our corporate partners who offer paid placements. As we look to the future, Cristo Rey continues seeking support for initiatives that allow us to help students during their post-graduation years, to add and retain high-quality faculty and staff, and to enhance our campus, among others.

Annually, an average of 470+ 9th through 12th grade students with limited economic resources from diverse families of any faith or culture attend Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.

In addition, staff provide post-secondary support services to 875 Cristo Rey graduates for up to six years post graduation.

98% 98% of Cristo Rey students are students of color.

Through Cristo Rey’s unique model of academic success, under-resourced youth of color in the Twin Cities receive high quality, innovative college and career preparatory curriculum focused on developing habits for the mind and spirit.

Students engage in college and career preparatory coursework, while working in a Corporate Work Study Program job placement one full day each week, all four years of high school. Students’ earnings from our business partners contribute to nearly half of their education costs.

While working in entry-level positions, students acquire desirable job experience and marketable skills to graduate high school with an impressive resume and exposure to a wide variety of careers. This all helps to create a pipeline of talent for future employers.
