In the midst of extraordinary challenges, we seek to effect transformational change at every level— in our students, and in our communities. Founded in 2007, and located in South Minneapolis, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School integrates rigorous academic preparation, significant professional work experience, and support for students to and through college. Since March of 2020, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School has had to respond to the challenges of COVID-19 and the killing of George Floyd, which has thrust our neighborhood into renewed struggle.

Minneapolis and specifically Lake Street is at the epicenter of racial unrest. Many of our families live and work here.
• We provide a rigorous, college-preparatory academic program for our students.
Achievement Gaps High school graduation rates for Minnesota’s students of color are the worst in the nation: • Hispanic/Latino: 50th out of 50 states • African American/Black: 48th out of 50 states
Rapidly Changing Workforce Including skills needed for future careers and increased/immediate need for ability to contribute to remote work.
COVID-19 In addition to impacts on students and families, our financial model relies heavily on corporate employers and has been deeply affected.

We offer a combination of college counseling and support after graduation through our Alumni Counseling services tailored to the needs of first-generation students.
Securing Future Workers • We prepare our students with significant professional work experience through our Corporate Work Study Program— the only one in the state of Minnesota.
Securing Financial Stability •
Through Cristo Rey’s Securing the Dream Resilience Fund, we will ensure organizational stability and financial security to address impacts of COVID-19, and sustain uninterrupted and high-quality operations and programming.
Cristo Rey is increasing the number of students of color with high school diplomas, college degrees, and work experience.

The Cristo Rey Resilience Fund will secure our ability to operate for school years 2021 and 2022, ensuring our mission of providing a high caliber college-preparatory education and workplace experience to students from low-income communities of color. Due to COVID-19, we have shifted a previously planned capital campaign to a two-year Resilience Fund effort to raise critical resources that will cover:

• Lost revenue in our Corporate Work Study Programs (CWSP) due to companies unable to commit to providing paid work for student teams as they have in the past

• Unexpected costs for COVID-19 safety measures From 2020 through 2022, the Resilience Fund will ensure organizational stability and financial security so we may sustain uninterrupted and high-quality operations and programming.
An Urgent Need Because paid jobs through our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) normally represents 50% of our operating budget, the ripple effect of the pandemic on our corporate partners and their respective workforces is devastating. As companies understandably cannot commit to providing paid work for student teams through CWSP, we must temporarily make up this revenue loss through increased fundraising.
