LCDS Class of 2015 Graduates

TJ Donovan Seven members of the class of 2015 enrolled in our program in prekindergarten, one of whom is TJ Donovan. Distance running, physical endurance, creativity, and building things are among TJ’s talents. TJ enjoyed participating in the Geography Bee. He is proud of the Eagle bust that his dad and classmates made in fifth grade. His favorite subjects are science and technology, and he can imagine doing something professionally that combines them. TJ is now a freshman at Saint John’s Catholic Preparatory High School. Ben Korkowski Ben Korkowski is another of our graduates who enrolled in prekindergarten. Ben enjoys soccer and lacrosse. Ben has been part of our Student Council since fourth grade. He enjoyed participating in the National History Day competition. Ben was a captain for our LCDS soccer team and plays on a highly successful soccer team outside of school. Ben would love to follow in his parents’ footsteps and become a doctor. Ben has joined his sister Maddie at Episcopal High School Greyson Sequino Greyson Sequino also enrolled in our program in prekindergarten. Greyson has a natural gift for using technology. He believes his special strengths lie in using computers, his work ethic and his helpfulness and concern for others. Greyson is proud of achieving the fastest time in the distance race in seventh grade. Outside of school, Greyson’s flag football team has made it to the national competition twice. Greyson is in his first year of high school at Riverside High School.

Lindsey Fouty Lindsey Fouty also joined our program in prekindergarten. She is a dedicated student, a caring person, a positive leader, and an enthusiastic athlete, Lindsey enjoys drawing, playing lacrosse and other sports, and spending time with her friends and family. Her favorite subjects are math and science. Lindsey is not completely sure what she wants to do as an adult, but her talents, positive attitude, and impressive work ethic will make her successful. Lindsey has joined her brother Nick at Flint Hill School. Gabbie Latimer Gabbie Latimer also began her LCDS career in prekindergarten. A talented musician, Gabbie won the band/orchestra MVP a few times. Gabbie likes basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, English class, being creative, and writing. She also enjoys science and civics. Gabbie served as Student Council class representative for several years. Gabbie has always been interested in civil rights, but acknowledges that her greatest professional passion would be to express herself through music. Gabbie is a freshman at Tuscarora High School. Mark Sogegian Another student who began his LCDS career in prekindergarten is Mark Sogegian. Away from our program for a few years, we were thrilled when he returned for seventh grade last year. Mark enjoys photography, technology, dogs, and hanging out with friends. He is a determined and hardworking young man who exhibits a deep respect for our mission and philosophy. Mark’s favorite academic subject is English. He is interested in pursuing a career in cyber security. Mark is now a freshman at Rock Ridge High School.

2015 PHILIP E. duPONT MEMORIAL AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Philip E. duPont Memorial Award for courage in helping others was awarded to Lindsey Fouty and McKenna Martinez.

Brian Wilmans Brian Wilmans also entered our school in prekindergarten. Brian is an outstanding young man, an excellent, high-achieving student, and a phenomenal athlete. Brian earned the high honor roll every trimester since fourth grade. He earned fourth place in the Geography Bee in sixth grade. Brian was a three-year member of our Green basketball team, a co-captain this year, and co-winner of the Todd Bohrer Memorial Award. He is interested in a career in video editing. Brian is in his first year of high school at the Bullis School in Maryland. Stephen Kallivokas Stephen Kallivokas is another student who enrolled in our program in kindergarten. A capable student, a responsible citizen, and a talented and accomplished athlete, Stephen’s best sports are football and basketball. He was named a captain of our Green basketball team this year. A play-making guard and great backcourt counterpart with Brian, Stephen was named co-winner of the Todd Bohrer Memorial Award. He wants to consider a possible career in sports marketing. Stephen is doing a second year of eighth grade at Harmony Middle School. Lauren Rubino Lauren Rubino began her LCDS career in second grade. An exceptional student, citizen and athlete, Lauren was the first person to ever break three swimming records on the same day at the St. Albans meet. She has been swimming since she was seven years old, and she continues to love the sport. Lauren’s favorite academic subjects are math and science. Looking ahead, she would like to follow in her father’s footsteps and go into business. Lauren is in her first year of high school at John Champe High School.

Peyton Carter Peyton Carter enrolled in our program in kindergarten. Peyton is a dedicated, talented student, a model citizen, and an outstanding leader and athlete. Peyton enjoys basketball, volleyball, and watching sports on television. She enjoys math and science, and is proud of achieving the honor roll each trimester, going to the National History Day competition this year, and being on Student Council since fourth grade. Peyton is interested in considering a career in forensic science. Peyton is in the ninth grade at Bishop O’Connell High School. McKenna Martinez McKenna Martinez is the third of these students to join our program in kindergarten. An excellent student, her favorite subjects are English, science, art, and music. McKenna is a three-year member of Mrs. Roos’ Show Choir. McKenna was named winner of Mrs. Knickerbocker’s Design/Build Award for outstanding achievement and innovation. Looking to the future, McKenna would like to be an equine veterinarian, an animator, professional artist, or an Olympic eventer. McKenna is a freshman at Loudoun Valley High School. Drew Johnson Drew Johnson enrolled in our program in third grade. He has earned straight A’s since fourth grade. In addition to his excellent grades, Drew won our 2015 Geography Bee. His documentary with Colton about Steve Jobs won 1st place at the districts of the National History Day Competition. Drew is an accomplished hockey player and earned the #1 singles position for our tennis team. Interested in becoming an engineer, Drew is continuing to deepen his knowledge of physics and other subjects at the Potomac School.

The Headmaster’s Prize for exemplifying the mission and philosophy of the school was awarded to Mark Sogegian.

LCDS Class of 2015 Graduates

Michael Meglio Three students entered our program in the fourth grade, the first of whom is Michael Meglio. Michael is hardworking and determined. His favorite academic subject is science. He also enjoys sculpting in art. An excellent athlete, Michael played soccer, basketball, and tennis in our middle school program. Michael is a talented baseball player and plays on a high-level team outside our program. He would enthusiastically welcome an opportunity to play baseball professionally. Michael is a freshman at Freedom High School.

Trevor Miller Another student who enrolled in fourth grade is Trevor Miller. He has earned the High Honor Roll every trimester throughout his LCDS career. Trevor’s favorite academic subject is math, and he won the first place trophy in the Math Olympiad competition this year. Trevor’s favorite sport is soccer, and he is also an excellent basketball player and played on our Green team this year. Trevor is unsure of a future profession, but he admires his parents’ work as medical professionals. Trevor is in his first year at Broad Run High School.

Cha-Cha Yacura The final of these students to enroll in fourth grade is Cha-Cha Yacura. Mrs. Palmer recognized Cha-Cha’s performance and growth in art by giving her a commendation for outstanding effort in the art studio. Cha-Cha is a twoyear member of Mrs. Roos’ Show Choir. Cha-Cha’s favorite sport is field hockey. For her future, she imagines being a judge for cat shows or being a store owner or a doctor. Cha-Cha is in her freshman year at Riverside High School.

Nadine Ahmed Nadine Ahmed enrolled in our program in fifth grade. Nadine has earned the high honor roll each trimester since she enrolled. Nadine served as our Student Council’s middle school head. Nadine’s favorite academic subject is English because she enjoys reading, writing, and studying grammar. Looking ahead, Nadine thinks she would like to be a pediatrician because she finds it interesting and enjoys working with children. Nadine has joined her brother Omar at Flint Hill School.

Colton Anderson Colton Anderson is one of eight students who enrolled in our program in sixth grade. He advanced to the state level of the National History Day competition this year with Drew for their documentary on Steve Jobs. He has earned the honor and high honor roll every trimester during his LCDS career. Looking ahead, Colton would like to become a lawyer because he is interested in learning about our justice system and would like to help people. Colton is now a freshman at Chantilly High School.

Arielle Bruecken Arielle Bruecken also joined LCDS in sixth grade. Arielle is a twoyear member of Mrs. Roos’ Show Choir. Arielle’s favorite subject is science, especially biology and oceanography. She has earned the honor or high honor roll all three years in our program. An excellent athlete, Arielle placed in the top ten in the Mile Run in seventh grade. Arielle is considering a career as an engineer or a teacher. Arielle is continuing her education at Woodgrove High School.

Ryan Duncan Another student who began his LCDS experience in sixth grade is Ryan Duncan. Ryan has earned the high honor roll each trimester since he enrolled in our program. An exceptional athlete, Ryan is a great lacrosse player. He started on our Green Lacrosse team as a sixth grader and plays on a high-level travel lacrosse team outside of our program. Ryan does not have any specific thoughts about a future profession. He has been enjoying his first weeks at Loudoun County High School.

Shiv Lamba Shiv Lamba is another student who entered our program in the sixth grade. Shiv distinguished himself by winning the Loudoun Regional Spelling Bee, advancing to the National Competition in Washington, DC. An exceptional student and athlete, Shiv earned all A’s every trimester throughout his LCDS career. His favorite subject is science, and he hopes to one day become a doctor. Shiv is continuing his education at Thomas Jefferson School for Science and Technology.

Chris Lusco Chris Lusco is another student who began his LCDS career in sixth grade. Chris’s favorite academic subject is history. Chris believes that one of his greatest strengths is his perseverance. Athletically, Chris’s determination allowed him to stay with the demanding process of earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. As Chris looks into the future, he is not sure what professional path he will choose, but he has thoughts about serving our country in the Air Force. Chris is now a freshman at Freedom High School.

Leila Marangella Leila Marangella also entered our program in sixth grade. Leila wrote this reflection about her LCDS experience: “Through my years at LCDS, I was really able to discover who I am and what I believe in. LCDS was the perfect mold to help me become who I am.” Leila served admirably as Student Council President last year. A talented athlete, lacrosse is Leila’s favorite sport. Looking to the future, Leila wants to do something that will have a positive impact on our world. Leila is in her first year at Rock Ridge High School.

Akur Thapa Another student who enrolled in our program in sixth grade is Akur Thapa. A conscientious student, he is proud to have earned the high honor roll throughout his three years in our program. Akur is a talented athlete and an outstanding basketball player. Akur plays on a high-level AAU basketball team that has won a State Championship and has qualified for nationals. Akur is thinking about a possible career as a financial planner. Akur is continuing his education at Paul VI Catholic High School.

Elizabeth Wells Elizabeth Wells is the eighth of these graduating students to join our program in sixth grade. An accomplished student, Liz has achieved the honor roll every trimester since she enrolled. She has qualified for the Regional competition for the National History Day two years in a row. Liz is a twoyear member of Mrs. Roos’ Show Choir. As for future aspirations, Liz would like to study medicine, most likely to become a pediatrician. Liz is now a freshman at the Oakcrest School.

Sukhjot Bedi Three of these students enrolled in seventh grade, one of whom is Sukhjot Bedi. His favorite academic subject is math, and his favorite sport is basketball. Sukhjot always participated enthusiastically and demonstrated maturity and leadership. Sukhjot has a natural curiosity about the world, and he enjoys being creative and tinkering with things. Looking to the future, Sukhjot is thinking about a possible career in the law or as a software engineer. Sukhjot is continuing his education at Stone Bridge High School. Taylor O’Brien Taylor O’Brien joined our program in the seventh grade. A talented and creative young lady, she enjoys art, everything from drawing to crafts. Taylor is also a good athlete who is enthusiastic about softball, lacrosse, and dancing. Gifted onstage, she is a twoyear member of Mrs. Roos’ Show Choir. Her favorite subjects are math, technology, music, and art. Taylor has thoughts of pursuing a career in teaching, dance, or as a marine biologist. Taylor is in her first year at Middleburg Academy.

Kurt McHenry The final member of this year’s graduating class is Kurt McHenry, who also entered our program in seventh grade. A tremendously talented athlete, Kurt is highly gifted in wrestling, a sport at which he has worked extremely hard. He is proud of having achieved a high national ranking at a young age in his weight division. One of Kurt’s academic achievements was going to the National History Day competition this year for his video on Bill Gates. Kurt is continuing his education at St. Paul’s School for Boys.
