Alumni parent Julie Yacura shared an update on her daughters: “Gracie ‘13 was recruited throughout high school to play collegiate field hockey, and finally decided on Vassar College fall of her senior year. The P.E. program at LCDS remains one of the things we value the most from our time there. The incredible opportunity to play and practice team sports at the middle school level is not only helpful in future athletic endeavors, but can teach grit and perseverance, too. Coach Melissa Pugsley laid an impeccable foundation of fundamental skills that helped Gracie attain a spot on a travel club team, and that was the beginning of her trajectory. Playing field hockey at LCDS is Gracie's fondest memory of middle school. The other girls are playing as well - Cha-Cha ‘15 is the goalie for Riverside and last year had a couple of weeks at the top of the Washington Post's most saves column. Eva, who attended LCDS from 2011 to 2016, is a starting forward on the varsity team and scored her first high school goal at a scrimmage last week.”
Julia Finkelstein ‘14 visited Miss Weiss's eighth grade English class to help students prepare for the annual Coffeehouse poetry reading event, and Julia also spoke at Middle School Orientation night about how LCDS prepare her well for her high school career at Flint Hill School.
