8 Wesley Roy Brady Jr., a Marine, is walking across America to bring awareness to the challenges faced by military veterans after returning home from combat. Roy documents “Due to the fact that my brother and a Marine brother of mine, took their own lives, I’m walking to raise awareness of the things our service members face when they return home.” Chief Wiser, who is also a Marine, met Roy and presented him with a Jackson Police Department Challenge Coin. “I commend Roy for his efforts to educate the country and bring awareness to the challenges faced by soldiers who survive traumatic events because First Responders often deal with the same challenges,” said Chief Wiser. 2018 4-H ROUNDUP MARTIN, Tenn. – Dr. Jim Byford, a familiar face to generations of Tennessee 4-Hers, plays and sings for a group during the 95th 4-H Roundup and All-Star Conference held the week of July 23 at UT Martin. Byford, who retired from the university in 2009 and is dean emeritus for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, has continued his involvement with 4-H following his retirement. Prior to his time at UT Martin, he spent 20 years as extension wildlife specialist in Georgia and Tennessee, giving hundreds of presentations and writing numerous articles on wildlife conservation. He received the Friend of 4-H award in 2011 from the Tennessee 4-H Foundation and was named in 2016 to the national 4-H Hall of Fame.
