JACKSON-MADISON COUNTY NAACP CALLS FOR GUN-SANITY The Jackson Madison County NAACP Branch extends our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the tragic shootings in Southaven, MS., Gilroy, CA., El Paso, TX., and Dayton, OH. These victims did not deserve to have their lives stolen from them at the hands of gunmen filled with hate. These tragic shootings are stark reminders of the dangers that plague our communities under the resurgence of white nationalism, domestic terrorism, intolerance, and racial hatred germinating from the White House. The JMC-NAACP is calling on the Trump administration to cease its use of divisive and discriminatory rhetoric which fuel these unconscionable attacks and allot resources to combat the rise of domestic terrorism and hate crimes. We’re also keeping up our call for practical gun control and urging our supporters to reach out to their elected officials to push them to make good on their promise to protect the American people and keep us all safe. It’s critical that all of us emerge from our grief—and just anger— not weakened or desensitized, but as fighters who rallied to make our communities safe from guns and our nation free from hate. Many hunters can’t wait to get a chance to pick up where they left off last season and get the rust out of those hunting guns. Some hunters have sentimental names for them such as Shoe Baby, Sweet Betsy and my personal favorite one is Sweet Six-Teen. Nimrods will have you thinking they are talking about another hunter instead of the gun because of the affection they have for them. Not only is Squirrel season starting, but Dove season starts September 1 with 15 birds being the limit. It is a good time to go for a walk in the woods of the Great Outdoors Of West Tennessee and don’t forget to take the kids along because they will get a thrill out of it too.

During the scan the Dr notice multiple lesions , July 5th she was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma which is a rare liver cancer.. I have always prayed a specific prayer concerning my mom. On Sunday Aug 4(today)␣ She won the battle.. now you may not understand when i say she won.. Through this.. came restoration & salvation So today i celebrate.. WIFE OF JACKSON MAYOR APPEARS IN COURT August 2, 2019ÊÊWBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff JACKSON, Tenn. — The wife of Jackson’s mayor appeared Friday morning in city court. Jessica “Nikki” Conger was cited July 21 on a misdemeanor shoplifting charge at Walmart on Emporium Drive in north Jackson. She appeared in court with her attorney, Bill Massey. She waived formal arraignment, and Judge Blake Anderson recused himself from the case. Massey sent WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the following written statement Friday afternoon: “I informed the Court today that I represent Mrs. Conger and entered a plea of Not Guilty – and that plea will not change. Judge Anderson recused himself to avoid any ‘appearance of impropriety’ due to Mrs. Conger being the wife of the Mayor. Neither I nor the Prosecutor asked for recusal. We both know Judge Anderson to be a good judge who is fair and impartial. But this charge will be hotly contested and I believe he just felt it was best to have a Judge from another jurisdiction hear the case. Judge Beal from Lexington agreed to preside. I look forward to seeing the video of this alleged theft during a self service check out at Walmart with her 3 year old.”

MEMPHIS WOMAN INDICTED IN TENNCARE FRAUD CASE MEMPHIS – An investigation by Special Agents with the Medicaid Fraud Control Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment and arrest of a Memphis woman on charges of fraud and theft. At the request of the Division of TennCare’s Office of Program Cynthia Abernathy Integrity Unit in December of 2016, TBI Agents began investigating allegations that Cynthia Abernathy falsified documentation for TennCare services she never received.Ê During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that timesheets were submitted by a former caregiver of Abernathy between January 2015 and February 2017.Ê However, Agents determined those services were never provided and the caregiver did not submit the timesheets. On July 11th, the Shelby County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Abernathy (DOB: 5/2/56) with one count of Theft of Property over $60,000 and one count of TennCare Fraud of $60,000 or more.Ê On July 18th, she was booked into the Shelby County East Women’s Facility and release on her own recognizance.

THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE Investigators of the Jackson Police Department are working another case involving the theft of a motor vehicle and need assistance identifyingÊa person of interest. On July 30th, surveillance video from the Circle K, located at 1817 N. Parkway, captures an unidentified black male wearing a white tank top and blue jeans takingÊa black 2007 Chevy Trailblazer without the owners permission.Ê The stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later.Ê However, several items from the passenger compartment were also reported stolen. WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DEFECATING ON BOSS’ DESK AFTER WINNING THE LOTTERY BY

NEW YORK – A 41-year-old woman had the winning lottery ticket worth over 3 million dollars on Friday night, but showed up to work anyway on Monday to deliver one last package. The courier company had no idea of her winnings. “I knew something was wrong because I came back from lunch and the door to my office was closed,” said the manager. I slowly opened the door to discover the woman with her pants around her ankles, hunched over on my desk like a hippopotamus/cheetah dropping a massive poo on my desk. She shot her head towards me and locked eyes. I was frozen in shock and fear. In my peripheral vision I saw a huge mud-monkey sliming out of her butt like a Play-Doh fun factory.” “It was worth it,” the woman said on arrest. “On Friday when I realized I hit the lotto, I knew this would be the first thing I would do. I hit up every Mexican food truck and saved my dumps all weekend. I was shuffling around like a death-row inmate trying not to explode.ÊI’ve been putting up with that guy’s shit for years, it’s time he put up with some of mine.”

WOMAN ACCUSED OF CALLING IN CITY COURT BOMB THREAT

Stephanie Wilcox is charged with false reports. WBBJ 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS STAFF JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman suspected of making a fake bomb threat Thursday that interrupted Jackson City Court appeared Friday morning in court. According to court documents, she called central dispatch Thursday morning, saying in part, “There’s a bomb in there. There’s a bomb. Hurry up.” There was no bomb, but Jackson police and fire departments spent 30 minutes using drone and K-9 units to make sure the building was safe. Wilcox is being held for a revocation hearing, and her bond is set at $50,000. Judge Blake Anderson recused himself from the case, as he could be a potential witness.

On July 13th, surveillance video, from the Flash Mart on Hollywood Drive, captures four black males occupyingÊa stolen 2019 Chevy Equinox.Ê The stolen vehicleÊwas recovered.Ê However, Jackson Police Investigators are continuing their effortsÊof identifying these subjects because they may have been involved in other vehicle thefts. FOUR MEN ARRESTED, CHARGED IN ONGOING HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION BLOUNT COUNTY – An undercover operation conducted by the Human Trafficking Unit of the Aaron Fomby Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Alcoa Police Department, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryville Police Department, and the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force has resulted in the arrest of four men. On Friday and Saturday, as part of a joint investigation aimed at addressing human trafficking in East Tennessee, authorities placed several decoy advertisements on websites known to be linked to prostitution and commercial sex cases. The focus of the operation was to identify individuals seeking to engage in commercial sex acts with females under the age of 18, and those engaged in trafficking others for commercial sex acts.Ê David Turner As a result of the operation, Aaron D. Fomby (11/11/ 90), of Detroit, Michigan, was arrested and charged with one count of Trafficking a Minor for a Commercial Act. He was booked into the Blount County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Orlando Moreno-Martinez (DOB 1/ 10/81), of Knoxville, was arrested and charged with one count of Trafficking a Minor for a Commercial Act. He was also booked into the Blount County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Upen Patel (DOB 1/25/83), of Sweetwater, was arrested and charged with two counts of Trafficking a Minor for a Commercial Act. He was booked into the Blount County Jail on a $1 million bond. Donald W. Turner (DOB 7/24/72), of Knoxville, Orlando Morenowas arrested and charged with Promoting Prostitution. Martinez He was booked into the Blount County Jail on a $6,000 bond. At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests and charges. Keisha received her education at Jackson Central Merry High School class of 1998. She later furthered her education in Jackson, TN at the HBCU Lane College for 3 years. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Plains Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. On Thursday July 25, 2019, God called “Baby Keisha” to her heavenly home. To know Baby Keisha was to love her. She was very outgoing, kind, sweet and she lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends, but had a special bond with her cousin/best friend Camari. Throughout the years, Kesha met a special friend, Earnest, that she spent time with over the phone.
