“After many sleepless nights and prayer, I knew it was the right decision to pursue this action and to stand up for my employees, who are the heart and soul of our department” Mehr explained. “I swore an oath to serve and protect the citizens of Madison County and that is what I am going to do.”

Madison County Sheriff John Mehr(left) filed suit against the Madison County Commission this week citing budget restraints as the source of the complaint.

“I was disappointed that the sheriff did this I was Alexis Donald hoping that there was another way we could work through this, but evidently he didn’t think there was,” said Madison County Commission Chairman Gary Deaton (pictured above). “Did he have enough, I don’t know but we did all we SANSING, CARRIE CUNNINGHAM, could do, we gave him all we STEVEN JARRETT could give him,” said Deaton.
