“We will be doing another stimulus package,” President Trump said in an interview with a Scripps correspondent.

The president offered few details, however, saying only, “It will be very good. It’ll be very generous.”

When asked how much the payment might be, Trump said, “You’ll find out about it.”

Bass is one species that can be caught year around in West Tennessee and the time is right for them. We have been receiving reports of good numbers and sizes of bass being caught recently.Ê As seasons change fishermen simply have to change the tactics used to lure big bass. Typically they are more aggressive early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

Although they may go deep mid-day that does not mean they can’t still be lured in. Fishing deeper mid-day just means slowing down the retrieve and using plastic worms and jigs.

18-year-old charged with facilitation of murder after deadly Northaven shooting

TYWAN SMITH JAILED ON ATTEMPTED MURDER AND VANDALISM Charges Stemming from May 2 Gunfire on Woodstock Drive Nashville - 6/18/ 2020 - Tywan W. Smith, 19, wanted since May 2 on outstanding warrants charging him with attempted murder and felony vandalism for shooting a man outside his ex-girlfriend’s Woodstock Drive home, is now in the Metro Jail and is being held in lieu of $255,000 bond.

Smith, who had been in the custody of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, was transferred to Nashville today.

Smith drove up to his former girlfriend’s home on Woodstock Drive just before 5 p.m. on May 2 and found her sitting in a vehicle with a male friend.

She and the male friend both got out and told Smith to leave. Detectives were told that after a brief exchange of words between the three, Smith pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband and opened fire. Bullets hit the male in the hand and grazed his stomach.

His vehicle was also hit by gunfire.

At the time of this shooting, Smith was free on $7,500 bond from a March arrest on charges of aggravated assault and felony vandalism stemming from a domestic dispute with his mother.

Both men were shot, but Phillips died from his injuries.Ê On Monday, officers tracked down 18-year-old Kobe McAfee who was the owner of the vehicle that was used by the suspects during the shooting. He told investigators that he was the passenger in his own vehicle when two others with him began shooting at the victims after they flashed gang signs at them.Ê After the shooting, he dropped the other individuals off and then went home without calling police.Ê McAfee was charged with facilitation of first-degree murder and facilitation of attempted first-degree murder.Ê Detectives said they are still trying to identify the other individuals involved.

JPD make arrest in stabbing death of 60-year-old man On Friday, June 12, 2020 around 9:30 pm, Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a report of a man bleeding on the ground in the area of John Williams Road near East Chester Street.

Officers found Kenneth Brasher, 60-year-old white male, had been stabbed. He was transported by EMS to Jackson Madison County General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.Ê Tayana Williams, a 19-yearold female, has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of Especially Aggravated Robbery and Especially Aggravated Robbery.Ê This is still an ongoing investigation.Ê

CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 Agents with the Drug Task Force searched Young’s home on North 14th Street in Humboldt on Thursday after receiving information about a suspicious package, according to a news release. The release says agents received a warrant to search the package and found almost six kilograms of methamphetamine and 872 Oxycontin pills.

Agents delivered the package to the North 14th Street home and Young accepted the package, the release says.

Agents found electronic scales, money, and a loaded gun in the home.

The release says the street value of the pills is about $17,440 and the street value of the methamphetamine is approximately $551,040. Agents estimate the total value of the seizure was approximately $568,480.

IT GOES BEYOND THE MURDERS OF ERIC GARDNER, ‘LIL ROY’ GLENN, JR. OR SANDRA BLAND. BEYOND THE KIDNAPPING AND MURDERS OF ELBERT WILLIAMS AND EMITT TILL AND THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER ATROCIOUS ACTS OF VIOLENCE THAT HAS BEEN PERPETRATED UPON AFRICANS SINCE ARRIVING IN ‘AMERICA.’ “Police Reform” are two words that have taken center stage in the struggle for justice that has this nation nearly as polarized as Covid-19.

I contest that in order to Reform the Police, we first have to explore the formation of police in America. Doing so, will offer more insight as to why -I think- the current model is outdated!

Research tells me that one of the earliest recorded histories of an American Police Force can be found in Charleston, South Carolina.

In 1783 Charleston formerly established a paramilitary force called the City Guard. At the time, the city had a population of roughly 6,000; the vast majority of whom were of African descent.

It was the City Guard which lead the revolt against the alleged planned revolt known as the infamous Vessey Slave Rebellion of 1822 (zero whites harmed or murdered).

After crushing said ‘Rebellion’, murdering it’s alleged leader and dozens of others, the City Guard was tasked with keeping track of Charleston’s African American population.

Brandishing swords and pistols, the City Guard enforced a strict 9:00 PM. curfew for Blacks. Those caught out past the allotted hour were flogged publicly.

It is widely believed that many of the nation’s police forces that emerged after the City Guard -especially in the South following the end of the Civil War- used the Charleston model as a blueprint.

Therefore, you see this thing with Blacks and America’s police ain’t nothing new.

The sole purpose of the creation of “The Police” was to protect White interest and keep Blacks in order, in check, in bondage.

One young protester said the other day that “if the ‘Police’ motto is to “Protect and Serve” they doing it. Protecting White folks and Serving Ass Whippings and ‘Time’ on Blacks.”

Police will never be looked upon with an air of trust from within the Black Community, until they can take up the mantle of true Guardians of Justice.

And that means Justice for All. Peace!

All of us need to be encouraged. We have to have somebody to believe in us. We need to be reassured, someone to reinforce each of us, to help pick up the pieces of our lives and move on. To help us with determination in spite of the odds.

When you stop to think about the concept, “encourage” takes on a new meaning. And the Apostle Paul was the ambassador of Encouragement! Think about it – It is the desire to inspire others, with renewed courage, and spirit. And most of all - hope.Ê When we encourage others; that is an act of love. ENCOURAGEMENT.ÊÊ I think all of us need an overdose of “Encouragement”. But I guess we are just too prideful to admit it. Unfortunately this pride is among too many of God’s family, as it is on the streets of our city.Ê The beautiful part about encouragement, anybody can do it. Young or old. You don’t need money to carry it out, you don’t need a diploma, -you just need to care.Ê How would you feel if someone sent a letter to you thanking God for your life? Would you be encouraged? And in closing in the letter telling you that they are praying for you? I think that we all could use this kind of mail. So let me encourage you to write such a letter today. Someone is waiting to be encouraged. Show them how much you care. We all need that right where we live in Jackson, TN.Ê Today’s world appears to be joyless, full of guilt, full of fear. It appears freedom is disappearing from our lives. But by His spirit, “JESUS” will direct His joy to our problems, making it possible for each of us to be filled with joy regardless of our circumstances.Ê Acts 17:26a reads, “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.”Ê His grace is sufficient. MEET BETTY SMITH: New JTA Bus Operator

JACKSON TRANSIT AUTHORITY UNVEILS NEW TROLLEY BUS The Jackson Transit Authority unveiled a new Trolley style bus at Jackson City Hall last Thursday.

A project for the 30 foot long Trolley started about 10 years ago after JTA Board members took an interest in adding a Trolley replica bus to the JTA fleet.

Funding delayed the project but the Tennessee Department of Transportation assisted the JTA through the TDOT Improve Act grant program.

The City of Jackson also provided additional assistance.

The Trolley includes a unique paint scheme wood detailing and a bell.Ê Jackson Transit Authority serves the City of Jackson Monday through Saturday 6:00 am to 10:30 pm except for seven holidays.Ê JTA can be reached at 731-423-0200.

Mr. Erris “Sonny” Yarbrough announces a new bus operator for the Jackson Transit Authority.

Locals Attend Home Buyers Seminar in Jackson

By Bill Marable More than 2 dozen potential homeowners attended the Second First Time Home Buyers Seminar, Saturday June 20 at The HUB Club in Jackson. Pictured left to right are City Councilman Johnny Dodd, Sandra Carter of Century 21, Charles Adams of S& A Development and Jerry Comer also of Century 21.

According to Carter, a third seminar is planned for September of this year.

There was information about lending at the seminar, which was disseminated by Randy Larkins from The Bank of England.

Charles Adams and Fred Spight are senior consultants at S & A Development. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We recently purchased a 9 acre lot in the area of Cartmell and Phillips Street and our goal is to construct 43 new homes and possibly some commercial development as well,â&#x20AC;? Adams said.
