Three people were charged Monday with killing a Michigan store security guard who they say “disrespected” a relative by insisting that she don a mask to prevent the spread of theÊcoronavirus. Two of the suspects, Ramonyea Bishop, 23, and Larry Teague, 44, were still being sought, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said. The third suspect, Sharmel Teague, 45, has been arrested, Leyton said. However, one constant remains and that is the fact that it is the best time to bream fish. They arrive on those beds close to the banks and are very aggressive towards anything that comes their way. Weather temperature as well as water temps play a roll in when they will spawn on different bodies of water. The only way to be sure is to continue to try you favorite spots until you see when they are bedding up. Once they start it will continue for a while and if you don’t disturb them too bad you can come back to the same hole for some time until the spawn ceases. When you get into slab blue gills spawning it can be as much fun as any fishing because pound for pound they are the most aggressive fighters. Don’t forget doing this time of social distancing that fishing in the Great Outdoors of West Tennessee remains one of the best activities available.

HUMBOLDT– An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation into a fatal fire in Gibson County has resulted in the arrest of a Humboldt man. ÊOn May 3rd, first responders with the Humboldt Fire Department and Humboldt Police Department responded to a call of a smoke odor at an apartment complex on Old Gibson Road in Humboldt. Crews discovered a fire in one of the apartments and extinguished it. In the process, the body of a victim, believed to be Perry M. Boling (DOB 04/11/1936), was located in the residence. TBI Special Agents, along with accelerant detection canine Wrigley, also responded to the scene, along with deputies with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that indicated David Riggs Riggs was responsible for starting the fire. On Sunday, David Glynn Riggs (DOB 09/26/ 1986) was taken into custody and is being held on a charge of Reckless Homicide. He was booked into the Gibson County Jail. No bond is set at this time.
OVER 150 INMATES AT 201 POPLAR HAVE 18-YEAR-OLD STUDENT SHOT AND KILLED AT MCDONALD’S TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 MEMPHIS, Tenn. —ÊThe Shelby County Health Department reported 266 people at 201 Poplar have been tested for COVID-19. 155 inmates tested positive, and 37 employees tested positive. The inmates all have felony charges, according to Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner. According to experts, the virus found a footing in the jail where social distancing is difficult, and the county should’ve expected it. FOX 13 talked to the wife of one inmate who said her husband believes he may have the virus. She said her husband appears to have trouble breathing when they talk over the phone but has not gotten tested. A criminal justice reform advocate told FOX13 all inmates need to get tested soon because the spread of the virus inside the jail was bound to happen. FOX13 saw employees leave 201 Poplar with masks on to help protect them from catching and spreading COVID-19. Inside the jail, new tests show more than 150 detainees have the coronavirus after 266 detainees and staff were examined. “We knew those particular populations are very vulnerable for very different reasons. They are in facilities that are in very close proximity to one another and we know COVID spreads very easily,” said Shelby County Health Department Director Alisa Haushalter. - FOX13

JACKSON-MADISON COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD MEETS WITH NEW SUPERINTENDENT APRIL 16, 2020 - wnws.com The Jackson-Madison County school board met Wednesday night in their first meeting with upcoming superintendent Dr. Marlon King. This was the board’s first opportunity to meet with King since it was announced he would be offered a contract as school superintendent. If the contract is successfully negotiated with Dr. King, he will be the sixth superintendent for Jackson-Madison County Schools in a little over eight years. To orient himself to the new position, Dr. King will shadow current superintendent Ray Washington until Dr. King assumes the role of superintendent July 1st. King told the board a focus will be on school safety. Once that’s done, Dr. King believes that test scores will come up.

Sponsored by the Memphis Morehouse College Alumni Association, “the annual Glee Club concert is not only a fundraiser for the college, but also, an excellent recruiting tool”, said Alumni President Bill Jones. The Morehouse College Glee Club is the official choral group of the college. The Glee Club has a long tradition of many notable public performances, having performed at alumnus Martin Luther King, Jr’s funeral, President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration, the Super Bowl and the 1996 Olympics. The Glee Club has also toured in Africa, Russia, Poland and the Caribbean. Before the concert, the young men attended an informational session hosted by Director, Dr. David Morrow and the Glee Club. They also had dinner and talked informally with current Glee Club members. According to Jah’karious Conley, a junior at Madison Academic High School, “What an inspirational experience to meet young guys from all over the country and hear them perform – Morehouse has moved to the top of my list of colleges. I thank my mentor, Councilman Brooks for affording me this opportunity”. Morehouse College, located in Atlanta, GA, is the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) that is all male. It has a reputation for providing a rigorous academic foundation and social indoctrination that creates “Morehouse Men” – academically gifted, socially conscious men who give back to their communities. Founded in 1867, the college also houses a research institute, entrepreneurship center and the Morehouse College of Medicine. Notable Alumni include filmmaker Spike Lee, actor Samuel L. Jackson, former Mayor of Atlanta, Maynard Jackson and civil rights leader Julian Bond. Locally, lawmakers such as Shelby County Mayor, Lee Harris, Brownsville, TN, Mayor Bill Rawls and Councilman Brooks did their undergraduate work at Morehouse. The Story of Dax HawkinsDax Hawkins. Is currently incarcerated in the Michigan Department of Corrections. He is currently serving a life sentence forÊa murder that he did not commit. For years he has been around other prisoners who have proclaimed they were also innocent of their crimes.ÊNor did they receive a proper trial; they were sold out by their attorneys although some admit their guilt, they also feel they were given excessive sentences. After years of hearing his fellow inmates complain. Mr. Hawkins along with 7 other prisoners at Kinross correctional facility decided to stop complaining and become men of action to change their circumstances. So, they formed a prisoner run group known as “The Reformed”, “The lost and forgotten”. They meet weekly to discuss newly developed law changes and cases. They also take time out to write organizations and government officials who are Focusing on prison reform. Their mission is to ultimately see themselves free someday. They also dedicate their time by helping those who are out stay out, and those who are in to get out and stay out. The cycle of recidivism must stop. Prisons in Michigan are basically warehousing bodies and not allowing access to the powers that can make a change. Nor do they have any interest in correcting the defective thinking of the inmates.Hats off to these gentlemen for being their brother’s keeper. Sharmel Teague and Munerlyn began arguing after the security guard “told Teague’s daughter that she needed to wear a face mask while inside the store,” Leyton said. “Teague’s daughter left the store, but Teague began yelling at Munerlyn, who then told her to leave the store and instructed the cashier not to serve her.” Witnesses identified the shooter as Bishop, Leyton said. By the time police arrived, the suspects were gone and Munerlyn lay bleeding on the floor from a gunshot wound to the head. Michigan Gov. Notice is hereby given that on April 21 of 2020 Letters Testamentary (or of Administration as the case may be) in respect of the estate of JACK MANHEIN JR , who died February 13, 2020, were issued to the undersigned by the Probate Court of Madison County, Tennessee. All persons, resident and non-resident, having claims, matured or unmatured, against the estate are required to file the same with the Clerk of the above-named Court on or before the earlier of the dates prescribed in (1) or (2) otherwise their claims will be forever barred (1) (A) Four (4) months from the date of the first publication (or posting, as the case may be) of this notice if the creditor received an actual copy of this notice to creditors at least sixty (60) days before date that is four (4) months from the date of the first publication (or posting); or (B) Sixty (60) days from the date the creditor received an actual copy of the notice to creditors, if the creditor received the copy of the notice less than sixty (60) days prior to the date that is four (4) months from the date of the first publication (or posting) as described in (1)(A); or (2) Twelve (12) months from the decedent’s date of death. All persons indebted to the above Estate must come forward and make proper settlement with the undersigned at once.
