He numberonecoach@hotmail.com or 731-694-8614. said why not I’m just hanging around the barn right now. It looked like i might rain but we decided to give it a shot anyway. I told him to give me time to load the boat and I would be right over.

Since it looked so much like rain I choose to just fish from the bank in case we had to make a run for it. We got to the lakeÊ and he saw what I was fishing with and said “crickets ahh sweet”. I started catching so many that I told him the fish act like babies on a bottle because I was catching them so simple. I felt sorry for him because he was not catching many at the time. He finally went into his tackle box and pulled out a custom made fly cricket he makes in his jig shop.

LOVIE MARABLE AND A STRING OG Let me tell you, it was on, I have BLUE GILLS never seen blue gills go after a jig the way they went after that fly cricket.

We finished up with about 50 blue gills and a bass apiece in about two hours mid-day. You better get you buddy or the kids and get out there while they are still on the beds spawning.

MILAN POLICE RELEASE DETAILS IN LAST WEDNESDAY’S DEADLY SHOOTINGS May 21, 2020ÊÊClint Eiland - WBBJTV.COM MILAN, Tenn. — Shots rang out in Milan on Wednesday during two separate shootings, just hours apart.

The second shooting left one man dead around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

“Patrol went to the location on Anderson Street where they received a call of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene, they found a deceased male,” said Milan Police Chief Bobby Sellers.

The victim has been identified as 25-year old Corinthian Gunn.

“Witnesses have told us that he had been at a house party in the area. We are still interviewing witnesses and questioning people,” Sellers said.

They do have one suspect in custody in connection to Gunn’s death. The other shooting happened earlier in the day, around 5 p.m.

“Milan PD received a call about shots fired on College Street, at an apartment complex,” Sellers said. “There was actually three people shooting. They were shooting at each other. Fortunately no people were hit. No injuries,” Sellers said.

Initially, police arrested two suspects.ÊHowever, the investigation led them to a third arrest.

“We determined that one of the people there claiming to be a victim, was also an active participant in the gunfire,” Sellers said.

That person has charges pending.

Despite the time frame, Chief Sellers says they don’t have any evidence at this time that the shootings are connected.

“Initially, we thought there may have been some retaliation or something from the first one, but we’ve not been able to put the two together in any way,” Sellers said.

Fugitive Murder Suspect Kevin Horner in Custody 5/23/2020 - Nashville Fugitive murder suspect Kevin Horner (r) the gunman believed responsible for the April 10 targeted murder of April Wilson, 33, inside her residence at Riverchase Apartments on Joseph Avenue, is in custody in Dickson County.

Members of Nashville’s U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force apprehended Horner, 27, at a residence in Dickson. He is currently jailed in Dickson County and will be returned to Nashville in the near future.

Memphis police and agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded to one of Arthur Hopkins’ online ads offering sex in July 2019. They were instructed to go to a motel on American Way where they made contact with the 14-year-old victim.

The girl told authorities that Hopkins was her pimp and that she met him on Facebook several months prior. She said he was the one who placed the ads online and sold her for sex.

Hopkins was arrested downstairs next to the swimming pool. He reportedly confessed to officers and was arrested.

He was indicted on 10 counts of trafficking for commercial sex acts.

The incident happened in the 3800 block of Austin Peay Highway around 7:30 p.m. Monday. According to the victim, she was walking with a friend when Shayna Smith accused her of talking to her boyfriend.

She said Smith then kicked her in the head and stabbed her in the arm with a threeinch pocket knife. Smith was charged with aggravated assault.

Four Minnesota police officers have been fired after the death of a black man who was taken into custody and seen on video being pinned down by his neck.

Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the four officers were now “former employees”.

Footage shows the man, George Floyd, groaning and repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe” to the white officer.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mayor Jacob Frey confirmed the four officers involved in the incident had been “terminated”.

“This is the right call,” he tweeted.

At a press conference earlier, Mr Frey had described the incident as “completely and utterly messed up”.

“I believe what I saw and what I saw is wrong on every level,” he said.

“Being black in America should not be a death sentence.”

BY Downtown Ricky Brown The American Civil Liberties Union in Nashville is suing on behalf of several people it says would be at risk by having to vote in person in Tennessee this year during the coronavirus pandemic.

The ALCU is asking the Court to make absentee voting available to all eligible voters in the state of Tennessee.

The group and its state organization filed its lawsuit Friday in state court against Governor Bill Lee, Secretary of State Tre Hargett and election coordinator Mark Goins.

Tennessee requires voters to give an excuse for voting by absentee ballot.Ê Tennessee has multiple elections this year including a statewide election on August 6 and the General Election on November 3.

Federal Judge Orders Humboldt mediation July 14

United States District Court Judge Daniel Breen has ordered a mediation By ‘Downtown’ Rickey Brown conference between rickeylynnbrown@hotmail.com Humboldt City Schools Superintendent Versa Hamlet and the City and school board, who she is suing for racial discrimination and retaliation.

Judge Breen has ordered the July 14 mediation for Hamlet, the city and school board to try to resolve the case out of court.Ê If the matter isn’t resolved, Judge Breen will set a court date in whether to issue a preliminary injunction to stop the hiring of the next superintendent until the case is heard, which is what Hamlet’s lawsuit requests.

During the mediation, Hamlet, the city and school board will try to settle the case.Ê Settlement could be monetary or nonmonetary such as a contract renewal.Ê Hamlet filed a federal lawsuit on March 30, alleging Dr. Versa Hamlet her contract wasn’t renewed in retaliation for Hamlet not racially discriminating against white school district employees, and that the decision not to renew her contract violated her First Amendment rights, and the Tennessee Human Rights Act. The City of Humboldt and the Humboldt school board have denied the claims in the lawsuit.

The City of Humboldt has argued we the decision not to renew her contract was for legitimate reasons not retaliation, racial discrimination or illegal reasons.Ê The city and school board say her claims do not rise to the level of First Amendments protection and shouldn’t be under the federal jurisdiction and that Hamlet is not entitled to damages, according to the city’s response filed in court May 1.

Hamlet’s attorney Justin Gilbert will report the results of the mediation conference to Judge Breen on July 20.Ê If Hamlet and the city can’t agree to a settlement.Ê Judge Breen will then set a court date in whether to issue the court injunction.Ê Granting an injunction would block the school board and the city from: Terminating Hamlet’s contract - Replacing Hamlet - Permanently filling the position - Otherwise retaliating against Hamlet in any way as a result of exercising her rights Hamlet is also asking for: A declaration that federal laws were broken - The injunction or reinstatement and monetary damages for humiliation embarrassment and emotional distress Reasonable attorney fees and costs if for example the injunction is denied and Hamlet seeks damages that the city and school boards action will cause when her contract ends on June 30.

Michelle contacted me and indicated the residents of McMillan Towers Apartments truly enjoyed reading the weekly “CrimeSEEN Examiner Newspaper” but most on fixed income and could not afford the newspaper regularly.Ê Michelle made arrangements for the CrimeSEEN Examiners to be purchased and brought to the apartment complex for the residents.Ê “I’m a big fan of the CrimeSEEN Examiner Newspaper and enjoy reading it every week,” said Mills. “It has a lot information not available other places.Ê I’m happy we were able to get my residents some extra copies for their enjoyment!.”

Radio host Dan Reaves joining back with the “old gang”

By Downtown Ricky Brown Dan Reaves who for 20 years worked at WNWS 101.5 FM Radio in Jackson has announced he’s moving over to WTJS radio 93.1 .

He will join back with former 101.5 coworkers George B and Steve Bowers.Ê Dan said “it’s kind of like getting the old crew back to together.”

Starting Tuesday, May 26, Reaves will be on the 93.1 airwaves from 8:00 am until 11:00 am the same time slot as his old show at 101.5.Ê Bowers, Reaves and Scott were all part of the radio lineup while at 101.5 and there will be a similar line up at 93.1.

Steve Bowers will start the day at 6:00 am until 8:00 am, Reaves from 8-11 am then Brad McCoy from 11 am to 1 pm then Jimmy Duke from 1 pm until 3 pmÊ Dan Reaves George B will remain at 3-6 pm daily.Ê Reaves said “this is an opportunity to grow a resurgent radio station and expand my audience.”Ê 93.1 signal reaches from Kentucky border to the Mississippi bridge and from the Mississippi River to the Tennessee River.Ê Along with doing the show Reaves will be working in marketing and advertising. ÊDan has already helped revamp the stations logo and wants to help beef up the website.Ê Dan said 93.1 will become the place for local news and local sports.Ê George B Scott and Dan Reaves have not been on the air together since Scott left 101.5 in 2009.

Parker Humphrey recently graduated from the Kindergarten Program at Arlingon Elementary School in Jackson. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, no ceremonies were held at the school.

However, Parker was presented with her very own private graduation exercise on her grandmother’s lawn.

My confidence in containment flatlined when I walked into the local neighborhood market, three weeks into Governor Lee’sÊ ‘Social Distancing Order’ Ê Two old friends met in the checkout line “Mane is tha-chew” said the slim cat holding a six pack of Natural Ice, leaning forward, eyes narrowing in a squintÊ “Yeeeeah Ni gga tha’s-chew,” flashing a smile that had more teeth absent than present “I ain’t seen cho-ass since mama died” Ê THEN - before the unsuspecting soul could muster a defense stronger than the slightly soiled mask used to cover his mouth Ê The man advanced beyond ‘the parameter’ and planted a back patting ‘soul hug’ while continuing to reminisce during the extended and awkward embrace Ê Next he leaned over the protective barrier and slid his cash through a slit at the bottom of a plexiglass window, sure to collect his change Ê “Al-hi ght my N igg a. I’ll be hollering at cha!” he said before sneezing into his free hand.

He wiped his mouth, pushed open the door, exited the building.
