Shelby, Madison, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox and Sullivan counties are excluded from the guidelines, and the state will work directly with those larger areas on plans to reopen.

I did a little research and found a little helpful information that my help all of us land more bass this spring. One of the best baits to use is the swim jig because it can motor through the grass with out getting hung up in grass as much as other lures will. It is difficult to catch fish if you have to clean your lure after each cast.

By using swim jigs with a bullet head weight on braided line you will have the strength to navigate through tough spots. If you look for open areas within the grass patches to land the cast it will be good to start reeling quick before the lure begins to drop.

Many times bass will strike a lure as soon as it hits the water and all you have to do is set the hook and start the retrieving to get him through the grass.

The Great Outdoors of West Tennessee has plenty of lakes waiting on you to visit them. Don’t shy away from the grass areas where the big bass are located just be prepared for the challenge of grass fishing.

THREE ARRESTED, CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO LEWIS COUNTY HOMICIDE HOHENWALD

BY KEITH SHERLEY APRIL 25, 2020 JACKSON TN (April 25, 2020) – Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting around 3:50am at 106 Robin Lane.Kontravis Bond, a 19-year-old male, was shot outside his residence. Bond was transported to Jackson Madison County General Hospital where he later succumb to his injuries.

ROAD RAGE INCIDENT CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 On April 22nd around 12:50 p.m., officers of the Jackson Police Department responded to an incident involving gun fire on the 45 Bypass and Channing Way.Ê Officers who responded to the scene were advised that the occupants of a vehicle had shot into another vehicle.Ê Responding officers located the victim of the incident who had sustained non-life threatening injuries and damage to his vehicle from the gunfire.Ê The victim and witnesses advised officers that the shooter was traveling in a red or maroon colored 4 door Infiniti which continued South on the 45 Bypass.

The next day, April 23rd, the police department received a “tip” from a citizen who advised the possible tag number of the suspect vehicle.Ê After a thorough investigation and assistance from the victim, witnesses, and the community the occupants of the suspect vehicle were identified and interviewed by Jackson Police Investigators.Ê The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a perceived road rage situation that occurred while both vehicles were traveling South on the 45 Bypass.

An ongoing homicide investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrests of three people.

This week, at the request of 21st District Attorney General Kim Helper, TBI Agents joined the investigation into a body found in a pond in the area of Allen’s Creed Road in Lewis County, believed to be that of Kenneth Herman Harter (DOB 3-10-70). During the investigation, Agents developed information leading to Curtis James Lobermier (DOB 2-17-82) as the individual responsible for the man’s murder. The investigation also led to Jonathan Andrew French (DOB 1-14-85) as an individual present during the murder who later assisted in moving Harter’s body, and Betty Jane Crutchfield (DOB 9-2-84) as a woman who fraudulently used Harter’s credit card.

On Tuesday, Agents arrested Crutchfield and charged her with one count of Fraudulent Use of a Debit/Credit Card and one count of Theft and booked her into the Lewis County Jail on $5,000 bond.

On Wednesday night, Agents arrested French and charged him with one count of Abuse of a Corpse and one count of Accessory After the Fact. Agents subsequently booked French into the Lewis County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

On Thursday, after placing him on the TBI’s Most Wanted list, Agents arrested Lobermier, charged him with one count of Criminal Homicide and one count of Abuse of a Corpse, and booked him into the Lewis County Jail on a $275,000 bond.

WEST MEMPHIS MAYOR: DON’T SPEND STIMULUS CHECKS ON TVS, RIMS by:ÊLuke Jones - wreg.com WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A surge in stimulus check spending is stimulating some pointed words from a local leader.

West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon is urging his citizens not to waste the $1,200 checks on things like television sets and rims.

Tuesday, he posted on Facebook:

“Please use your stimulus checks wisely for mortgage/ rent, utilities, food & etc. WE ARE IN SURVIVAL MODE! Don’t waste it on tv’s, phones, name brand items, rims & etc.”

McClendon said he’s noticed an increase in frivolous spending since the checks were issued last week.

“Our Walmart was completely sold out of TVs—completely,” McClendon said.

“One guy, I saw him and personally talked to him. He told me he just bought a new pair of rims with his stimulus. I said, ‘That was not what that was for,’” he added.

Shoppers at the West Memphis Walmart appeared to be taking McClendon’s advice.

School nurse Kierre Sturdivant said some of her stimulus check money went to bills, and the rest is going into her savings account.

“Schools are closed, I’m at home, and had I not saved money, I would be looking pretty crazy right now,” Sturdivant said.

“People are gonna do what they’re gonna do,” Qualyn Reed said. “At the end of the day, the government can’t always be there to bail them out, so they will have to live with the consequences of their actions.”

Last week, McClendon garnered attention for a blunt Facebook video in which he urged West Memphians toÊ“stay your a** at home.”

“Sometimes, I’ll have no other way but to give it to them just the way that it is,” McClendon said.

The “Shelter at Home” executive orders have been lifted by Jackson City Mayor Scott Conger and Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris.Ê Both Conger and Harris have issues executive orders confirming the order will be replaced by a “Safer at Home” order which began 12:01 am Monday April 27.

The new order allows restaurants to reopen dining areas to serve at half capacity.Ê According to the order, all tables in the restaurants should be moved at least six feet apart, and all employees must wear face coverings and gloves at all times” All non-essential retail businesses should remain closed until at least 11:59 pm Tuesday April 28 but may reopen 12:01 am Wednesday April 29 Those business must operate with social distancing guidelines while maintaining a capacity of 50 percent within the stores. As of April 20, 2020, the Jackson-Madison Chapter has sewn and donated over 100 masks to donate to medical centers and others in need of protective masks.

“While we are each doing our part to slow the spread of the virus by staying at home, the DAR members in our chapter wanted to do more to give back to those working hard to keep our community healthy and safe,” said Regent Beth Bates of the Jackson-Madison Chapter. “We know these are tough times for everyone and wanted to do whatever we could to spread a little sunshine and help take care of our community.”

Tennessee governor releases guidelines CONT”D FROM P2 For everyone else, restaurants will be allowed to reopen on Monday, April 27, with retailers following suit on Wednesday. These businesses can only operate at 50 percent capacity.

Customers will be allowed to dine-in, but they will be screened with basic questions about COVID-19 symptoms.

Live music is not allowed and bar areas are to remain closed.

The state still recommends that employees wear masks.

Businesses such as barbershops, salons and tattoo parlors will have to wait a few more weeks to reopen as they work through a plan that ensure social distancing in those settings.

“Our approach to rebooting the economy must be steady, epithotical, and empower opening in a way that doesn’t jeopardize all of the strides that we made so far.”

The announcement comes a day after the state released its unemployment numbers. In all, more than 400,000 Tennesseans have file for benefits in the last five weeks. State officials said they anticipate a $5 billion loss in the state’s domestic product this year.

These decisions were not made easy and we have notified some of our employees that they will be placed on a 16 week furlough effective Saturday May 2, 2020 “

Furloughed employees have been given a return to work date of Monday August 24, during this time the city will continue to cover medical benefits of furloughed employees” They will also receive unemployment benefits which are currently paying up to $875 per week.

The City of Jackson is furloughing 60 full time employees and 133 part time employees.Ê Some of the furloughed employees are part time or seasonal staff from summer programs which will not operate in 2020. Summer events at city venues will also re re-evaluated, said the Mayor.

City services will continue to operate as expected.Ê Remaining staff have stepped in to fill any gaps that may have occurred. In addition to the steps referenced above, all department heads (including the Mayor), have received a temporary pay cut based on a percentage of their salary.”
