MAN COMMITS SUICIDE DURING STANDOFF WITH OFFICERS On Dec. 11 around 7:30 a.m., the Jackson Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at 140-A Lincoln Circle. During the call, a woman told Officers that her boyfriend, Aerion Brown, assaulted her and another woman with a gun, and took the girlfriend’s cell phone. Brown left the scene before Officers arrived. An Officer broadcasted a BOLO for Brown, and the case was referred to investigators.

HILLSDALE, MO – The St. Louis County Police Department has identified the 2 people who were shot to death in Hillsdale Saturday. The deceased have been identified are Dontay Davis, 25,Ê and 21-year-old Ahmira McDaniel.Ê Both resided at the residence in the According to Ahmira McDanel’s facebook page, she 2100 block of Cherry Avenue in from Savannah, TN and a former student at Lane Hillsdale. A Rutherford County jury found Chriteris Allen, 19, of Jackson, guilty of raping an 85-year-old Murfreesboro woman at gunpoint after a two-day trial concluded last Tuesday evening. After deliberating for just over an hour, the jury declared Allen guilty of six counts of aggravated rape and one count of aggravated robbery in Judge David Bragg’s courtroom. The jury, made up of mostly women, faced Allen as Bragg called on them one-by-one to verbally agree with their unanimous decision. The assault happened over a year ago On Nov. 14, 2017, 18-year-old Allen, approached a woman in the driveway of her home on Sunset Avenue with a gun. He forced the woman into her detached garage, and raped her there. After the rape and robbery, the victim said Allen walked away from her garage and out into the neighborhood. Allen fled to Jackson, Tenn. where he was later arrested by police. Murfreesboro police detectives Michael Yates and Tommy Roberts drove to Jackson where they interviewed Allen, and he confessed on video to orally and vaginally raping the elderly victim.

CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 A Domestic Violence Investigator conducted a follow-up investigation, which resulted in Jackson City Court issuing arrest warrants for Brown for Two Counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Two Counts of Aggravated Assault and Theft of Property. The girlfriend also received an Order of Protection through Madison County General Sessions Court. At approximately 11:26 p.m., police received a 911 call that the police were needed at 140-A Lincoln Circle. As Officers arrived they observed that a front window had been broken. Officers were met by a man who came to the door and said, “He’s got a gun. He’s ‘gonna’ shoot himself.” Officers observed the suspect through a window and began calling for him to come out. The suspect, identified as Aerion Brown, was not compliant. For safety concerns, Officers evacuated the other people who were inside the apartment. Officers then tried to negotiate with Brown for him to surrender, but he refused. An Officer attempted to use less than lethal force by deploying his Taser. The deployment was unsuccessful, and Brown retreated to an area not in the Officers’ view. As Officers ran up the stairs, they heard a single gunshot. They observed Brown on the floor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. They immediately called for an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived, he was unresponsive. An Assistant Medical Examiner came to the scene and pronounced him dead. Aerion Brown The events in this release are corroborated by Officers’ body worn cameras. APPLEBEE’S WAITRESS ATTACKED FOR GETTING OFF OF WORK LATE DECEMBER 17, 2018, BYÊERYN TAYLOR- wreg.com MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A domestic incident outside of an Applebee’s on Hacks Cross Road landed one man behind bars over the weekend. Arlexis Thompson was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism after he reportedly became angry that one of the waitresses didn’t get off on time. The victim said she was sitting in the passenger seat when Thompson got out Thompson of the car, walked around to her side and then began beating her. He then took her phone and threw it at her face so hard that it broke. He then slammed the door on the woman all while security cameras were rolling. In 2009, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison on felony robbery charges. Since his release he has been arrested three times for attacking or threatening to kill women.

THREE JUVENILES CHARGED AS ADULTS Humboldt -After a transfer hearing three juveniles were transferred to adult court on charges filed from an incident that happened on 10/12/2018 where they were charged with Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault with Serious Bodily Injury and Possession of a Firearm During Dangerous Felony this took place on South 19th Ave in Humboldt. A white female did receive a serious gunshot injury from the incident and is still recovering from her injuries. The three juveniles who were transferred are. 1. Kylen Juuan Pettigrew who was 16 at the time of 1 the incident and lives in Humboldt. 2. Joshua Stephen Holloway who was 14 at the time of the incident and lives in Humboldt. 3. Malik Keyon Armstrong 2 who was 15 at the time of the incident and lives in Humboldt. The case will be heard by the Gibson County Grand Jury and all three subjects 3 were moved to the Gibson County Criminal Complex in Trenton and each was given a $100,000.00 bond each.

HUMBOLDT POLICE DEPARTMENT INCREASES IMPAIREDDRIVING ENFORCEMENT DURING HOLIDAY SEASON Humboldt, Tennessee – Humboldt Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to increase impaired-driving enforcement from December 14, 2018, to January 1, 2019, surrounding the holiday season. The THSO’s statewide Booze It and Lose It campaign is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over nationwide mobilization. The Humboldt Police Department will have extra officers scheduled as part of a program to get Impaired Drivers off of out roadways. There will also be an increase on our normal bar checks to ensure everyone has a happy and safe holiday. The Humboldt Police Department wants everyone to have a safe and happy holiday and our roads and streets to be safe for your families and our families to travel on. “We ask all Tennesseans to please drive safely this holiday season,” said THSO Director Vic Donoho. “Our state and local law enforcement partners will be out in full force to secure Tennessee roadways. We want everyone to make it home safely, so please designate a sober driver.”

STATEMENT: Lt. Gov. McNally on Lamar Alexander’s decision not to seek reelection Lt. Gov. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) made the statement below following Lamar Alexander’s decision not to seek re-election to the United States Senate: “Lamar Alexander is a Tennessee legend. The foundation of Tennessee’s modern success as a state and a people was built upon his wise governance. All Sen. Alexander Tennesseans owe him a great debt. Lamar, along with Howard Baker and Winfield Dunn, was responsible for the modern rebirth of the Republican Party. But he always put principles over party, people over politics. Lamar always did what was best for Tennessee. As a young legislator, I was honored to work with then-Governor Alexander and was consistently impressed with his diligence and integrity. His mentorship of me and countless others has been invaluable. Though he may not be running for re-election, I have no doubt Lamar will continue to serve our state with distinction for the next two years as Senator and as elder statesmen beyond that. May the Work of Christmas Begin CONT’D FROM PAGE 1 Jesus, we believe, in adulthood healed the sick without a premium or copay. He fed the hungry. He defied the rules and customs of his time to liberate and uplift the marginalized. He gave voice to the voiceless, wholeness to the broken, and freedom to the oppressed. He afflicted the comforted and comforted the afflicted. He spent his time on earth, not with the wealthy and powerful, but among and defending the “least of these.” His acts of love and liberation were so offensive and threatening to the political and religious powers of the day, he was executed by the state. If we honestly desire to celebrate Christmas and follow the man we celebrate, we must examine our lives and society. Christmas is about the divine disruption of our lives, our world, and the status quo. Christmas calls us to pursue a world of justice and equity for all. Christmas is about the heralding of God’s way, a better way of living and existing. Christmas is about the tearing down of the walls, both physical and metaphorical, that divide and stratify us. If we are to be faithful to the message of Christmas and match our rhetoric with reality, then we must work to transform our community for the better. Christmas signals to us that this world and our communities are not good as they are and we have been given the opportunity to change it. As we celebrate this holiday season, lest we forget the millions of Americans that suffer without health care. Let us remember the innocent children separated from their parents at the border. Let us remember the millions of Americans who suffer in poverty and destitution. Let us remember the families who mourn the absence of loved-ones lost to senseless gun violence. Let us remember those that work hard and yet barely can survive. Let us remember those that suffer discrimination because of their faith, identity, or whom they love. Let us remember all of our brothers and sisters that are treated less than what their God-given and human dignity requires. Let us remember the men, women, and children that will go to bed hungry tonight. May we repent of our indifference towards the plight and suffering of our fellow man. Moreover, may we commit ourselves to the hard work of dismantling every system that harms and destroys human equality. It is woefully inadequate for us to merely celebrate the holiday with gift-giving, decorating, and caroling. We have not properly celebrated Christmas unless we have committed ourselves anew to feed the hungry, to do what we can to bring peace among all persons, and to emanate the light of love in all our words and actions. The real work of Christmas is peace and justice, being and becoming the good news of “peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind.” When all are free, safe, loved, cared for, valued, respected, and insured we can truly say that we have celebrated Christmas. May we acquire the compassion and love to ask “what child is this?” of each and every member of God’s beloved human family. May the work of Christmas begin. E. “SOUND THE ALARM”: By Morris Merriweather The Jackson Madison County SchoolÊ SystemÊ is headed toward a dual school system- one for the white & one for the black. Sound the alarm, we are headed toward segregated schools and possibly a segregated community. Most of our minority students are unable to read on grade level, our inner city schools are overcrowded by design, serious discipline problems in most of our inner city schools,Ê most of our administrators in a predominantly 75% (black) school system are white and so are the teaching staff and teaching morale isÊ at an all time low.Ê I wish that peopleÊ would quit making it appear that I don’t support Superintendent Dr. (Eric) Jones. For the record, I supportÊ Dr. Jones.Ê I do not support the overall direction the school system is headed in.Ê Ask yourself, the Chamber of Commerce, West Tn. Healthcare, Banking Institutions,Ê both mayors, County Commissioners, City Council, and majority people that doesn’t look like me is in support of the new superintendent. He has not been superintendent for a year & a half. The above organizations, institutions, and elected officials,Ê have never came out in support of past superintendentsÊlike this. He must be doing what they want. What about what the minority community needs. When will we speak up, like them?? Don’t shoot me, I am the messenger. Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, receives Community Service Award On Friday December 14th during the 148th Founders Celebration of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, City of Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, received the “Ronald M. Cunningham Award” for Community Service. This award is named in honor of the Fifty-third Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and former pastor of␣ Mother Liberty CME Chur ch located in Jackson Tennessee.␣ Bishop Cunningham has a legacy in community service and advocating issues of human concern.␣ The Ronald M. CunninghamAward is given to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to being a voice and instrument for human empowerment.␣ Along with Chief Wiser,␣ numer ous others were recognized by the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for service to the City of Jackson and Madison County.

Sheriff Praises Swift Responce of Deputies Madison County Sheriff John Mehr has high praise for his Patrol Division from an incident that occurred Saturday night, December 14th at 9:52. MCSO Deputies responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Maverick gas station located at 4 Three Way Lane. Upon arrival Deputies spoke with the two victims involved and both stated that two black males, wearing black clothing and bandannas over their faces, armed with a handgun, entered the store and proceeded to take the cash register from the counter. The two suspects then ran from the building and fled in a white Chevrolet Impala. Deputy Cory Chance spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it.Ê The suspects tried to evade the pursuit, now joined by other MCSO Deputies, until they eventually stopped, due to a traffic accident in Humboldt.Ê The suspects then fled the vehicle on foot, where they were quickly apprehended.Ê They were then identified as Kevin Grammer (the driver) and Brent Martin (Passenger/Defendant.) While securing the suspect vehicle Deputies were able to observe a black cash drawer in the back seat and later found $1,096.00 . They also found bandannas and a revolver in the floorboard. Both are charged with Aggravated Robbery, Vandalism, & Theft of property over $1,000.00 . Sheriff Mehr summarized the incident as :13 (thirteen seconds for the Robbery, 12:00 (twelve minutes for the capture) and both are facing from 14 to over 30 years in prison, depending on their criminal history.
