FAMILY SEARCHES FOR MISSING MOTHER LAST SEEN IN CORDOVA BYÊQUAMETRA WILBORN MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Collierville family is desperate for answers after a young mother disappeared.

Memphis Police say 26-year-old Sarah Vinick was last seen Tuesday, leaving a residence on Trondheim Drive in Cordova.

Her mother, Cynthia Vinick, said what makes this situation even more difficult is having to explain this situation to Sarah’s 4-year-old daughter.

She said she spoke to her daughter on Tuesday morning, and then her phone records went dead around 12:30 p.m. Sarah was staying in the Cordova neighborhood temporarily while she waited to move in to her permanent home, she said.

Cynthia Vinick said it gets harder each day, not knowing where her daughter is.

“This is the cruelest situation possible when you don’t know,” she said. “You don’t know where someone is. You don’t know if they’re alright. You know nothing. They’ve just disappeared.”

Police say she was last seen getting into an unknown pickup truck, possibly a dark color. If you have any information, you are encouraged to contact police.

ALEXIS CRAWFORD, MISSING CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY STUDENT, FOUND DEAD ATLANTA — Authorities have arrested the man accused of killing Alexis Crawford, the Clark Atlanta student whose body was discovered by police on Friday.

Barron Brantley has been charged with murder. He also has past charges for hindering a person from making an emergency telephone call and probation violations for previous charges of theft by taking, battery - family violence and cruelty to children in the third degree.

In addition to the battery and third-degree child cruelty PHOTOS | Barron Renwick Brantley counts that spawned the probation violation charges, Brantley also faced similar charges in Sept. 2018 along with several traffic charges and a “fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer” arrest months earlier.

RELATED:Ê’One of the saddest conclusions possible’: What police said about missing Clark Atlanta student Alexis Crawford Investigators believe Brantley is responsible for the death of the 21-year-old student whose body was found at a park in DeKalb County off of Columbia Drive.

He’s the boyfriend of Crawford’s roommate and friend, Jordyn Jones, who was also being sought in connection with the crime. Days before Crawford’s disappearance, she went to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta to file a police report that alleged that Brantley sexually assaulted her days before she was reported missing.

The complaint listed Jones as a witness and Brantley as the suspect. That report was filed on Oct. 27. Alexis was last seen on Oct. 30.

COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST BRANTLEY

IN THE REPORT, THE POLICE OFFICER WROTE, “THE VICTIM STATED THAT THE SUSPECT RUBBED HIS HAND ON HER SHOULDER AND KISSED HER ON THE NECK.ÊTHE VICTIM STATED THAT SHE ASKED THE SUSPECT WHATÊWAS HEÊDOING AND HE STATED HE THOUGHT SHE WAS MS.ÊJONES.” THE REPORT ALSO DETAILS WHAT CRAWFORD REMEMBERED FROM THE ATTACK.ÊÊSHE SAID BRANTLEY FOLLOWED HER INTO HER BEDROOM. CRAWFORD THEN WENT INTO HER BATHROOM ALONE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. SHE DIDN’T REMEMBER ANYTHING AFTER THAT.

Stephanie Fernandez MARTIN, Tenn. – Martin police are investigating after two people are shot three days apart. Police Chief Don Teal says officers first responded to the Station Apartments around 1 a.m.

Saturday.

“When they arrived on the scene, they found multiple victims and they told police that they had been that had been an altercation with multiple individuals,” Teal said.

Police say officers at the complex talked to two men who said multiple people attempted to rob them at gunpoint. During the attempted robbery, 23-year-old Charles Brown the Third was shot.Brown was taken to a local hospital, before being taken to Vanderbilt in Nashville for treatment of his injuries.

“Anybody that might have some information that we are not aware of,” said Teal.

“There may have been witnesses that were not able to talk that night that might know something or seen something you need to call us.”

Then Monday, officers responded to a report of another shooting at Cambridge Apartments around 2:30 a.m.

“When they arrived on the scene over there, they found a gunshot victim inside one of the apartments,” Teal said.

Police identified that man as 21-year-old Hunter Williams. Police say Williams told investigators that multiple people broke into his apartment and shot him.

Chief Teal says the victim in Saturday’s shooting has been released from the hospital. The victim in Monday’s shooting has been taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Police are asking if anyone has any information on these cases, please contact the Martin Police Department.

SUPER FIRED: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER BEATS DOWN STUDENT WHO SLAPPED HER! KYLE, Texas — A substitute teacher at Lehman High School in Kyle has been fired and charged after videos posted on social media appeared to show her fighting with a student.

KVUE spoke with the school district and a student in the classroom, who confirmed that the video circulating on social media captured the incident. In the video, you can see the teacher punching the student multiple times, pulling her from her desk and stomping on her head.

Another video also shows the student striking the teacher as she was grasping her in her seat.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office identified the teacher as Tiffani Shadell Lankford, 32. Officials said the student involved was 15 or 16 years old.

The sheriff’s office said Lankford was arrested onsite after school resource officers responded. She was charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.

Bossier, LAÊ— Police Officer Patrick Edmonds Jr., who is Black, fatally shot Shannon Rupert, a 45-year old white woman, in a Louisiana hotel after she threatened and tried to attack him with a pair of scissors while screaming racial slurs at him. Edmonds, however, has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

On October 25th, Edmonds responded to a 911 call reporting an incident at LaQuinta Inn in Bossier where Rupert was walking around the lobby with a pair of scissors while screaming on the phone.

A disturbing video of the incident showed Rupert threatening the police officer, who was trying to stop her. Edmonds can be heard repeatedly asking Rupert to put down the pair of scissors she had been brandishing to other people in a hotel lobby, but Rupert refused.

“You’re going to have to shoot me, n—–. You’re not taking them. Shoot me,” Rupert said before charging towards Edmonds with scissors in her hands.

Edmonds shot her twice, killing her. The local police department said that after the bodycam footage was reviewed, Edmonds was cleared from any wrongdoings in connection to the incident.

In a statement, the District Attorney also stated that Edmonds did not commit a crime as “his actions constituted justifiable homicide.” He has been placed on administrative leave pending the result of the investigation by the Internal Affairs Division.

Commentary Tammy Floyd Wade - CON’T FROM PAGE 1 But let’s face reality, over 5,000 voters did not attempt, come out, or put forth the effort. This sends a strong message through our city & the rest of the country.

Look people, all candidates run a race to be a winner, but my ultimate goal is to encourage individuals to exercise their rights to get registered, vote, & cause change if needed.

I know there are some that don’t vote due to religious reasons (understood).

Serving as an Alderman since 2000 representing the 4th Ward, I look at how much this Ward has regressed. Dilapidated houses, people living in inhabited housing conditions, slum landlords, no sidewalks, no grooming, trimming (spraying grass), poor lighting, terrible drainage, severe street repairs, pot holes, (oh, I forgot we got Leona St. Paved, pathetic & another slap in the face), no safety improvements for 911 emergencies, railroad tracks ungroomed, trash & debris not picked up for weeks, (time to change ordinance), houses torn down, nothing being rebuilt (I will follow up & be aware of how the $500,000 THDA grant monies will be utilized), no pocket parks, or other solicited grants to make improvements in the lower economic area (4th Ward), but the rest of the city is in a LITTLE better shape.

There is so much to be done, yet so little effort. I did not Win the Mayor’s race, but I WON the victory cause I am that vehicle to rise above and speak out. I’m not afraid to stand for all citizens for this city whether you voted or not, you benefit.

That’s what Democracy is about.... the people. The 4th Ward had the opportunity to have an impact, to change what our young people call “No Love City” which I hear quite often.

But this city does have love because God is loved & I’m his child. 4th Ward you missed the mark, timing and the opportunity to make change, and you spoke volumes on Nov. 5th - you don’t won’t change. You are content with the status quo.

I will continue to represent, fight, and demand change so the youth of this Ward will see someone working for them not just doing sports. They need to know they have choices, a voice, and aÊWOMAN LEADER, who made history from their Ward who allowed them to know they can be the Mayor of their city.

DORIS BLACK, ATTORNEY FILE RESTRAINING ORDER IN RECALL ELECTION November 12, 2019ÊÊWBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff JACKSON, Tenn. — Doris Black (right) has filed for a temporary restraining order through Nashville attorney Allison Manning-Carroll due to a pending election to recall Black from the Jackson-Madison County School Board.

Documents filed in Madison County Chancery Court Tuesday say the law, which passed in May, is unconstitutional because it only currently applies to Madison County, there is no relationship between Madison County and other areas of the state, the law is not supported by “justification related to population,” and because the law does not require local approval.

The temporary order requests that the recall election, scheduled for December 10, and early voting, scheduled to start on November 20, be halted.

WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News reached out to Manning-Carroll for comment. She has not returned multiple messages requesting a comment.

Black also chose not to speak to reporters until consulting with her attorney.

Correction: Memphis Police on Monday revised their original information on the location of shootings and number of victims. Updated information is below.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 19-year-old mother is among eight people shot across the city in a span of less than four hours overnight.

Police say the violence began around 2 a.m. Two men were shot at the Z Market convenience store on Perkins Road.

Then around 3:30 a.m., police say five people were shot inside the Diamonds of Memphis strip club on East Brooks Road.

A 19-year-old mother, Jermeisha Nance, was killed. “ I got a call from my mom about 4:30. I thought I was dreaming. And she said, ‘I think Jermeisha has been killed,’” her father, Keland Nance, said. “And as I started getting an overload of phone calls, it was true.”

Nance has spent his life trying to prevent violence in the city as part of the GRASSY program (Gang Resistance for Saving Society’s Youth) with Shelby County Schools, which is aimed at keeping kids out of gangs.

“It’s tragic that I have to live with the fact that she’s no longer here for violence that I pretty much talk to high school students about every day,” he said. “She just got caught up with the wrong kind of people. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and I just wish she would have — I wish she wouldn’t have came to the club last night.”

Nance says Jermeisha leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.

“She has a lot of love and she’s gonna need it, because like I said, it’s rough,” he said.
