The Bordeaux Blend is a term used to describe wines made from the main grape varieties used in making the great wines from the region of Bordeaux in South West France The six main grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot (the most widely planted in Bordeaux), Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and surprisingly to many and grapes more recognised in South America, Malbec and Carménère Colour and weight come more easily from these wines with a huge range of black and plummy fruit characters and structure more tannic, herbal and savoury
