“900 acres of activities” There’s lots to do at Crieff Hydro. In fact, there are over 60 onsite activities to make your stay as energetic or relaxing as you like.

The first three sections in this guide will give you the lowdown on some of our most popular activities. At the back, you’ll find a handy ‘at-a-glance’ chart showing the full range on offer, along with locations and prices.

CROQUET Mallet whacks ball, ball rolls through hoop, victory is nigh. Hardly anyone seems to play croquet these days, but it’s plenty popular with our guests. Lawn provided, mallets and balls available from Fitness Studio Leisure Desk. £5

DRIVING RANGE Beginner or seasoned golfer, work on your swing at our covered 8-bay driving range, near the main golf course. from £6

CRAZY GOLF Miniature game, maximum fun. With its small-scale versions of Scottish landmarks, our miniature golf course is not to be missed. Balls and clubs can be hired from Action Glen. £2.50

FITNESS STUDIO The “go-to” venue for all our fitness classes, with a Queenax frame, spinning bikes, range of kettlebells, TRX and some super clever virtual training tech!

FOOTGOLF Where keepie-uppies meet double bogies, it’s time to kick it on the green with a combination of football and golf. Get your ball from the tee to the green in as few kicks as possible. Sound straightforward? Come and try it for yourself. £5 adult, £3 child.

DISC GOLF We don’t suppose many of our guests have played Disc Golf before.

But then what better reason to offer it? Instead of hitting a ball with a club into a hole, you throw mini flying discs into a series of baskets.

The object is to complete the series with the fewest throws. Easy peasy.

CINEMA After a busy day, dinner and a movie can be just the ticket - even if there’s no ticket required. We show movies for free every evening in our 38-seat cinema room.

So grab an early dinner and enjoy. For directions and showing times, ask at reception. FREE

GOLF The 9-hole, par 3 course is set right in the Strathearn Valley, with atmospheric views of Ben Vorlich and Ben More. That said, you’ll have to switch off from the scenery a bit if you want to play your handicap on this challenging course. Driving range, club and buggy hire also available.

HORSE RIDING Experienced rider or first time in the saddle, if you want to explore our 900-acre estate on horseback, we’ll make it happen. Our instructors are here to encourage and advise riders of all levels. Wear flat shoes and arrive 15 minutes early.

One-hour hack from £44, Group/private lessons from from £33, lead-rein from £28, Polly Pony from £7.50

QUAD BIKE This is four-wheeled mayhem at its best. Book an hour session for up to 18 people and a qualified instructor will lead you round the estate, across all manner of challenging terrain. We’ve got all the equipment, just bring outdoor shoes and a need for speed.

MOUNTAIN BIKING What could be better for the soul than 900 acres of freedom on two wheels? Stick to the paths, or choose your own route. Bike and helmet hire available from Action Glen.

OFF ROAD DRIVING All torque, all action. Our 40-acre all terrain course was once a sand and gravel quarry. Now it’s a playground for big 4x4s and people who love to drive them how they’re built to be driven. Passengers welcome; anyone with a driving licence (and steely nerve) can have a go. £150 (Max five people per vehicle)

GYM Get your dose of endorphins in the hotel’s fully kitted out gym. Do your usual workout, or book a session with a personal trainer. The gym’s open daily from 7am to 9.30pm.

TABLE TENNIS It’s fast, it’s addictive and it’s a must. What else need we say about table tennis? Bats and balls available from the Leisure Club.

TENNIS Sure, Wimbledon’s the big one. But you don’t need strawberries and ball boys to have a spine-tingling outdoor tennis tournament here. Cliff Richard-style sing-a-longs optional. Court hire £4, individual lessons £25 per hour WOODLAND COMBAT See the woodlands become a temporary warzone with woodland combat. Think paintball without the pain, but you still have to be fast on your feet and quick on the trigger. Outdoor shoes and warm clothes are wise. There’s a shallow pool for little ones, a whirlpool for relaxing, and a heated 20-metre pool for generally playing about in.
