Hi, my name is Jowilna - Just a girl with a passion for paper - cutting big pieces of paper smaller and making things. My favourite thing is taking what I have and turning it into something different - using elements meant for something else and making it work on something new. With years of experience making thousands of wedding invitations, this was a fun challenge using vinyl to create a beautiful effect on a Wedding invitation underneath a layer of vellum for a soft and subtle effect. Here’s to thinking outside of the box creatively.
What you need
Materials To Cut
Cardstock - white
Vellum
Vinyl - Pink,. Orange, Yellow, Black
Everything Else
Cricut Maker 3 machine
Printer
Fine point blade
LightGrip Mat
Fastening Brad (split pin)
Hole Punch
Preparation
If you want to alter the project, select Customize, then use the tools in the Edit panel to make changes to the design.
Cut
Cut a white Cardstock rectangle measuring the size of your invitation - this invitation measures A5 (148 x 210 mm).
Cut the same size in Vellum that you wording will be printed on.
Use the flower design and cut each flower multiple times in different sizes and colours of vinyl alternating between pink, orange and yellow or a colour to suit your theme.
Assemble
Start layering your vinyl flowers together to create one solid floral elements.
Once the layering of the vinyl is done, adhere the vinyl flowers around the bottom side and edges of your white cardstock panel.
Some of the vinyl may overlap - use scissors to trim off the overlapping edges for a flush edge.
Layer the printed panel over the white panel - you can see how the vellum softens the bright colours of the vinyl for a muted colour effect.
Adhere the two panels together using a brad (split pin).
TIP: to enhance the invitation, create a matching envelope using the same vinyl floral designs to decorate the front of the envelope, or the flap at the back for a custom and personalized touch.
