WE LCO M E! Firstly, congratulations to all players who have been selected for the CV - SACA Emerging U19 Easter Series. Welcome to Victoria’s Western District!

As we are all aware, it has been a tumultuous 2020/21 with the advent of COVID-19. Many sports and programs have been impacted, cricket is no different.

Understandably, unfortunately the CA National Championships were cancelled for this season. Whilst this is disappointing, we are very pleased to be able to deliver the Easter Series in Hamilton & Dunkeld between Cricket Victoria and South Australia Cricket Association.

This is a great opportunity for players to showcase their skills against high quality opposition. This is another step on your cricketing journey and we encourage players to play brave. Players such as Jake Fraser-McGurk and Lloyd Pope have recently been involved in this program in their respective states. We look forward to seeing the next generation of cricketers shine!

Both CV and SACA would also like to acknowledge and thank the hard work of the team at Monivae College, South Grampians Cricket Club, Alexander College and the support of the South Grampians Shire Council. We always appreciate the hospitality and thoroughly enjoy playing cricket in regional Victoria.

EMERGING U19 EASTER SERIES INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE ‘S K I L L S H OWCAS E ’ WHEN? Saturday 10 April (Rest Day), 10:00am – 1:00pm WHERE? Monivae College Oval HOW DOES IT WORK? Seven skill-based events will be conducted with one participant from each squad competing in each event, as nominated by their team (coaches / peers). Players can be nominated for multiple events, but the intention is to provide opportunity for a wide range of players. Teams to announce nominations of competitors during Friday night’s dinner sitting.

EVENTS? 10:00am: “Sand Shoe Crusher” – Best yorker bowler (pace) 10:30am: “Revheads” – Spinner with the highest revs 11:00am: “Cannon” – Fastest throwing arm 11:15am: “Punter” – Most accurate throw at the stumps 11:30am: “Buckets” – Best catcher (high catching – weighted tennis balls) 11:45am: “Sweepologist” – Best sweeper (batter) 12:15pm: “Dorothy Derby” – Six-hitting derby, most 6’s (batter) COMPETITION RULES? Specific rules for each event and how it will run will be announced after nominees have been declared during Friday night’s dinner sitting. Each event’s winner will take home an awesome prize!
