RACQUETBALL COURTS Courts may be reserved up to two days in advance and are included in daily admission, membership or multi-visit pass fees.

Patrons with active memberships may reserve the racquetball courts online at CRgov.com/Registration. All other patrons should call 303-660-1036 to make reservations.

WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATION Let one of our certified personal trainers teach you how to use our equipment safely and effectively. Get started on your fitness goals knowing you are exercising properly.

Each orientation will take 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of participants, and will go over the circuit weight equipment and cardiovascular machines. Orientations are free, but registration is required.

Registration closes 24 hours before the orientation is scheduled to start and will be limited to six participants.

TO SWIM 10 LEARN New, streamlined program designed to progressively develop swimmers who are ready for a life in and around the water.

LEARN TO SWIM: TODDLER/YOUTH ABOUT LEARN TO SWIM Learn to Swim at the Town of Castle Rock is designed to progressively develop swimmers who are ready for a life in and around the water. To accomplish this, the program is set up in four phases. Because we understand not everyone starts their swimming adventure at the same age, we have also created two age-related tracks to group the swimmers with peers around the same age.

Parent Tot is designed to help children, and their guardians, feel comfortable in the water. Through play and smiles, the littles are able to learn and associate pool time as fun time!

Our Fundamentals phase is designed to teach coordinated movement in the water, as well as water safety. Swimmers who complete the fundamentals will have learned the basics of moving through the water effectively and comfortably.

CERTIFICATIONS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASS Lifeguard Training Class prepares participants for work as professional lifeguards. To participate, swimmers must be able to complete a 300-yard swim test utilizing front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for two minutes non-stop using kick only (no arms or hands), retrieve a 10-pound brick from 10-feet deep and return across the 20-yard pool in 1 minute 40 seconds using kick only. Successful completion of the course does not guarantee employment with the Town.

NOW HIRING Castle Rock Parks and Recreation is seeking dedicated lifeguards and swim instructors. Passionate about swimming? Consider joining our team and working in a fun environment. If certified through the Town of Castle Rock, and have taken the class within the last six months, the certification is reimbursed after three months of employment.

Participants must also complete a blended learning portion before the first day of class, which includes approximately eight hours of online training. The blended learning link will be emailed one week before the class starts. In-person classes are offered the second weekend of every month.

AQUATIC CLASSES ADULT PRIVATE LESSONS Perfect for adults who are new to the water or swimmers needing more individual support in the pool. These lessons offer specialized oneon-one instruction for swimmers’ personal development. Skills taught in these private lessons are specific to your needs and aquatic goals.

Classes are available for purchase online prior to the start of each session during registration periods. Class days and times are reserved for what you are specifically purchasing. Classes available as private for one adult, or semi-private for two adults from the same family. There are no make-ups or refunds for missed classes. These classes are available to swimmers 17 years and older.

Beauty and the Beast Would you be able to find beauty in a beast? Join Belle, a simple country girl, and a colorful cast of characters as she embarks on the biggest adventure of her life. Finding herself alone in a dark and scary castle, Belle meets the Beast, an intimidating monster who's not exactly polite. ADULT POTTERY This class will focus on the different techniques when throwing or hand building along with continuing to perfect your skills in other areas of pottery. Clay must be purchased through the Recreation Center, either in person or online (bring in proof of purchase). Bring your own tools or purchase them from the Front Desk. Glazes and firing included in fees. All skill levels welcome. Registration opens one week prior to each session.

INDIVIDUAL POTTERY SESSIONS Work one on one with our pottery instructors to freshen up your skills and learn new techniques in a distraction-free environment. Purchase a multi-visit pass for one, three or six one-hour sessions which offer one-on-one instruction and will be designed to meet your needs.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES Players must sign up within the designated registration period defined by the early-bird and regular registration fees. Late fees are applicable when the space within the program allows.

PARENT AND COACH MEETINGS Preseason meeting information and informational packets for parents and coaches will be sent out via email. During preseason meetings, our staff will discuss and answer questions about program philosophy, expectations and rosters. Information will be provided regarding practice and game scheduling. Our programs allow parents to participate by coaching, scorekeeping and line judging.

YOUTH COACH TRAINING For all new and returning coaches, a training will be held to provide sport-specific practice plans and drills. Additionally, coaches can attend a hands-on training taught by athletic staff to further their ability to be a successful coach. Coaches are required to complete concussion training certification, coach agreements and agree to a background check.

CHEERLEADING BEGINNING CHEERLEADING/TUMBLING Beginning cheerleading for boys and girls.

Cheerleading is a great way to introduce teamwork, motion and cheer memorization, and age appropriate stunting. The program runs for eight-week sessions. With each session, cheerleaders will attend a weekly practice and cheer at a weekly game. A universal uniform must be purchased ($60 and will be used for future sessions). One practice and game weekly, along with a halftime show in the last week of each session.

NEW SPORT CLINICS FLAG FOOTBALL This program is a fun way for young kids to be introduced to flag football by building confidence, developing friendships and learning basic motor skills like throwing and catching, formations, running and defensive skills. SOCCER BUDDIES Soccer Buddies is a child development soccer program for ages 15 months to 12 years. Soccer Buddies runs instructional soccer classes and goes beyond just teaching skills — coaches use soccer as a tool to instill confidence, perseverance and teamwork — values that will help your child thrive in any situation. Each class is age appropriate and provides fun learning opportunities.

FENCING YOUTH AND ADULT FENCING Discover the exciting sport of Olympic Fencing! Fencing is a centuries old art and is gaining in popularity each year. Fencing is a mental and physical sport that builds your agility, strength and stamina. It also teaches you focus, strategic thinking and problem solving. Our class fosters competition, confidence, respect and self-discipline in a safe and fun environment. This is a great sport for parents and children.

This six-week program includes an introduction to the history of fencing, weapons, target areas and fencing technique. The use of equipment is included in the class fee.

HIKING LOCAL AND REGIONAL HIKES 2023 Local and Front Range hikes are easy to moderate, 3 to 5 miles at a 1 to 1.5 mph pace. Travel time up to 1.5 hours from Castle Rock. Hikers will meet at the trailhead at 9 a.m. unless the hike is outside Castle Rock, then meet at the Recreation Center at 8 a.m. for transportation. Local hikes are free and regional hikes are $10.

CASTLE ROCK TRAIL FESTIVAL / liveBIG FAMILY ADVENTURE RUN PRESENTED BY HYDRATE IV BAR Enjoy the fall colors with the entire family at Castle Rock’s signature trail-running event, featuring the Ridgeline Trail Races and the liveBIG run. Race distances include a 50K, marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K and the Family Adventure Run, a 2K obstacle course designed for 5 through 12 year olds and families. Both the 5K and Family Adventure Run support our Therapeutic Recreation program.

CELEBRATING 15 YEARS STRONG In 2008, Adopt-A-Park/Trail/Open Space was rebranded to Parks, Open Space, Trails (POST) Partners. The program was restructured to be an all-inclusive volunteer program to align program mission, vision and benefits while accommodating a change in the volunteer inquiries that ranged from individuals wishing to collect litter, build bluebird boxes, participate in trail restoration or construction projects, community work days, adopt a park, open space or trail. Individuals and groups can choose opportunities based on their needs and abilities.

• POST Partners is an all-inclusive volunteer program • Started in 2008 with eight groups, POST Partners has grown to over 50 groups • Colorado Bluebird Project started with 23 boxes and three volunteers in 2008 and has grown to over 200 nest boxes and 100 volunteers • In 15 years, 70 scouts worked with POST Partners to earn their Eagle Rank • Today, we have three loyal trail maintenance groups that maintain over 100 miles of trails • Over 1,000 volunteers donated their time, over 550 bags of trash picked up and over 115 volunteer opportunities in 2022 • Currently have 46 locally sponsored dog waste stations • Each year we have 25 local tree sponsors for Festival of Trees Volunteers add spark and fire to any project they tackle. Their life experiences, coupled with their unfailing enthusiasm, add that little extra something to help create a sense of community.

Volunteers don't just pick up trash; they also help plant trees, monitor wildlife, assist in trail restoration or construction projects, adopt a specific park, open space or trail, or donate items to assist with these projects. POST Partners helps increase awareness of the Town's parks, open space and trails and the activities held in them TRAIL MAINTENANCE GROUPS The POST Partners Volunteer Program organizes three trail maintenance groups. OUTDOOR RECREATION

The National Sports Center for the Disabled is one of the largest therapeutic recreation agencies in the world. NSCD offers a variety of year-round sports and recreational adventures.

NSCD SKI AND BOARD: BEYOND BOUNDARIES Through a partnership between the therapeutic recreation divisions at the Town of Castle Rock and Parker, adaptive ski or snowboard lessons will be offered at Winter Park by the NSCD. This five-week series includes full days of lessons as well as adaptive equipment rental and transportation to Winter Park. Lessons are suitable for novice skiers and individuals who are learning to ski independently.

Lessons can be held as 1:1 or 2:1 when needed. Sign-up for the lottery will begin in August, and registration will be held in September. Advanced skiers will not be left out; an advanced ski day will be offered as well.
