That’s why we’re keeping you in mind when it comes to program and class registration. There are two ways to get signed up. Here are a few key tips.

RockREC Online – CRgov.com/Registration Search with key words – programming is broken down into categories, but the easiest thing to do is use the search function at the top of the page. For example, searching “dance” will help you find all dance classes.

Click the carrot or triangle symbol for details like dates, times and locations.

RockREC App The app is available for both iOS and Android. Search for “Castle Rock Recreation” or “RockREC” (one word.)

Purchase passes, register for classes, check out the group fitness schedule and more.

Be sure to enable push notifications to get real-time updates. Click on the “hamburger” or three lines in the upper left-hand corner to find the notification settings.

Reminders Update your information! If you already have an account set up, make sure your information, like your email and phone number, is updated. The new year is a great time to go in and make changes.

Before registering yourself or a family member, remember to get your address verified at one of our front desks, so that you can receive any available discounted resident rate when enrolling for a program.

Add all family members to your account and verify them as residents to receive the discounted rate. Make sure each child’s birth date is entered so the system can confirm eligibility for youth programs.

STARGUARD LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION Train to become a certified lifeguard through StarGuard’s nationally recognized blended learning program. This course combines independent online modules with in-person, hands-on instruction to build strong skills in water rescue, CPR/AED, first aid and emergency response. Participants who complete all skill evaluations and written exams will earn a one-year StarGuard Lifeguard Certification.

Online requirements: All registered participants must complete the assigned StarGuard online coursework before the first day of class. Access information will be provided upon enrollment. Completion of these modules is mandatory to participate in the in-water and classroom sessions.

Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 15 years old, able to swim 100 yards continuously, tread water for one minute without using hands and retrieve a submerged object from a depth of 7 to 10 feet.

LEARN TO SWIM: TODDLER/YOUTH ABOUT LEARN TO SWIM Learn to Swim at the Town of Castle Rock is designed to progressively develop swimmers who are ready for a life in and around the water. To accomplish this, the program is set up in four phases. Because we understand not everyone starts their swimming adventure at the same age, we have also created two age-based tracks to group the swimmers with peers around the same age.

Parent and Tot is designed to help children and their guardians feel comfortable in the water. Through play and smiles, the littles are able to learn and associate pool time as fun time! Please note, guardians must be in the water with their child.

Our Fundamentals phase is designed to teach coordinated movement in the water, as well as water safety. Swimmers who complete the fundamentals will have learned the basics of moving through the water effectively and comfortably.

Stroke Development swimmers are ready to put their skills to work learning the basic freestyle (front crawl) and back strokes. Skills learned also include the groundwork for more specified strokes such as breaststroke and butterfly.

Stroke Refinement swimmers are ready to move with efficiency and purpose. Our goal for this phase is to create and improve competitive swimmers as well as prepare those who love the water to become lifeguards.

PRIVATE LESSONS YOUNG ADULT/ADULT PRIVATE LESSONS Perfect for teens and adults (ages 13 years and older) who are new to the water or swimmers needing more individual support in the pool. These lessons offer specialized one-on-one instruction for a swimmer’s personal development. Skills taught in these private lessons are specific to a student’s needs and aquatic goals.

Classes are available for purchase by appointment only. Please email LearnToSwim@CRgov.com to check availability. Class days and times are reserved specifically for the private lesson you purchase. There are no make ups or refunds for missed classes.

These lessons are sold in packages of four.

YOUTH PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Private lessons are available either once or twice a week, Monday through Saturday, for youth ages 3 to 12 years. Lessons are 30 minutes in length and are purchased in packages of either six or 12.

Private swim lessons provide one-on-one training and are geared toward learning how to swim or continuing to learn and practice basic swim stroke techniques.

This elite private training is for swimmers who already swim competitively, know all four strokes and are ready to enhance their skills and technical abilities. These are one-on-one private lessons. Lessons are available for purchase by appointment only and are sold on a single-use basis.

Our monthly Homeschool Prep Swim Program offers a welcoming and supportive environment for students ages 6 to 18 who have a basic understanding of the four strokes and can swim at least one length of the pool.

CRUISERS HIGH SCHOOL PREP A high school prep swim team is a competitive group of student athletes dedicated to improving their swimming skills, competing in various swim meets and fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.

These teams are often part of a broader athletic program within a high school, serving both recreational and elite swimmers.

The team will be divided into several levels based on skill. Coaches will lead practices focusing on technique, endurance and race strategies, and will provide individual feedback to help swimmers improve their personal best times.

Designed to inspire confidence and growth, the program focuses on refining technique and building endurance, helping young athletes stay engaged and motivated in the water.

This program is scheduled during the day and aligns with the Douglas County School District Calendar. Participants are placed at locations based on ability, ensuring that each swimmer receives the right level of challenge and support. Newer swimmers train at the MAC, while more experienced athletes practice at the Recreation Center.

Summer SWIM TEAM CRUISERS SWIM TEAM The Castle Rock Cruisers Swim Team provides an opportunity for young swimmers to be involved with a recreational swim team. Practice sessions involve development of the four competitive strokes, flip turns and starts.

As a prerequisite, all participants must be able to swim one continuous length of the pool using either freestyle or backstroke.

Swimmers will be placed in practice groups based on age. All practices will be held at Butterfield Crossing Pool or the Recreation Center. Practices are divided by age and will range from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the age group.

LEARN TO CRUISE If your swimmer is new to the swim team and not yet ready to compete, Learn to Cruise is the perfect option. Learn to Cruise swimmers will participate in practices and learn the basics of a swim team without the external pressure to compete.

All swimmers MUST be able to swim one full length of the pool (25 yards/meters) without stopping in order to participate. Swimmers must have this requirement met at the first practice. Search “swim team” at CRgov.com/Registration for more information and schedule information.

FAMILY PAINT CLASSES KIDZART® FAMILY STYLE PAINT CLASS Families are invited to participate in a morning activity focused on creating unique canvas paintings. A certified KidzArt instructor will provide comprehensive, step-by-step guidance throughout the class to assist participants in completing their artwork. This event is designed for adults and children of all ages, encouraging creative bonding through painting. Registration includes one adult and one child, each painting a 12x6 inch canvas, with a break for croissants and pastries during the session. The fee covers pastries and two canvas paintings, with the option for additional family members to join for $18 each.

ADULT POTTERY ADULT POTTERY This class will focus on the different techniques when throwing or hand building along with continuing to perfect your skills in other areas of pottery. Clay must be purchased through the pottery program, either in person or online (bring in proof of purchase).

ATHLETICS PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES REFUND POLICY The Castle Rock Athletics Department is committed to providing high-quality programs and services while maintaining fairness and accountability in refund processing. A 90% refund will be issued only if the participant withdraws at least seven (7) days before the program start date, provided the withdrawal is not program-related and not due to unmet requests. Full refunds are not available due to administrative and processing fees. Partial or prorated refunds may be considered when a participant withdraws after the program has begun due to verified medical reasons or family emergencies, with appropriate documentation and approval from the Athletics Supervisor. No refunds will be granted once a program has started unless the Athletics Supervisor approves an exception under extenuating circumstances.

FEATURED YOUTH SPORTS BASEBALL TEE-TO-PITCH BASEBALL Tee-to-Pitch is a fun and developmental baseball experience designed to help young players make the exciting transition from hitting off a tee to facing live pitching. This league focuses on building confidence, improving fundamental skills and fostering a love for the game in a positive and encouraging environment.

MACHINE PITCH BASEBALL Machine Pitch baseball helps players master basic skills of hitting, catching, throwing, running bases and learning the main positions at more regularity. Practices include 45 minutes of reserved batting cage time and 1 hour of field time.

BEGINNING CHEERLEADING/TUMBLING Beginning cheerleading for boys and girls. Cheerleading is a great way to introduce teamwork, motion and cheer memorization, and age appropriate stunting. The program runs for an eight-week session.

Each week, cheerleaders will attend a weekly practice and cheer at a weekly game. A universal uniform will be purchased ($60 and this will be used for future sessions). Cheerleaders will participate in a halftime show in the last week of each session.

MOUNTAIN BIKING INSPIRE JUNIORS PRE-K The pre-K program is designed to introduce young riders (ages 2.5 to 5 years and not yet entering Kindergarten in 2026) to the joy of biking in a supportive and fun environment. This program combines the best of our Strider Riders and Preschool Pedalers curriculums to meet juniors at their skill level and help them progress confidently on two wheels.

Strider Riders will focus on balance bikes to learn starting, stopping, and proper balance, and progress to skills like speed control and cornering. Parent involvement is expected if juniors cannot walk independently with their balance bike.

Preschool Pedalers will develop their pedal biking skills including starting, braking, pedaling and cornering. Kids should know how to ride a pedal bike before joining this group, and no training wheels or props are used.

This program will prepare young riders to confidently join us on gravel and dirt trails.

INSPIRE JUNIORS REC MTB (K-8) Do you love to ride bikes, have fun and get outside? Inspire Juniors Rec MTB brings kids ages 6 years and older together to mountain bike with peers, have fun and develop an appreciation for the sport and the outdoors while building skills, confidence and fitness. Team members will improve their mountain biking skills while being a part of a team that instills positive values like camaraderie and respect.

Racing is optional but supported for participants who want to give it a try.

At the beginning of the session, kids are divided into groups based on age and guided by a coach for each practice. Parents are encouraged to sign up to volunteer to ride along so that each group has two adults.

FENCING YOUTH AND ADULT FENCING Discover the exciting sport of Olympic Fencing! Fencing is a centuries-old art and is gaining in popularity. Fencing is a mental and physical sport that builds your agility, strength and stamina. It also teaches you focus, strategic thinking and problem solving. Our class fosters competition, confidence, respect and self-discipline in a safe and fun environment. This is a great sport for parents and children.

This six-week program includes an introduction to the history of fencing, weapons, target areas and fencing technique. The use of equipment is included in the class fee.

PICKLEBALL PICKLEBALL Are you familiar with pickleball? This rapidly expanding sport, a blend of badminton, tennis and table tennis, has become the fastest growing recreational activity in Castle Rock. Its blend of fun and social interaction makes it appealing to individuals of all ages. With its easy-to-learn rules and the opportunity for a satisfying physical workout, pickleball offers something for everyone. Interested in joining the fun? Explore our available options below and select the ones that suit you best.

Sessions: Our sessions offer round-robin style play up to 11 points with players of similar skill levels. Each registration period spans eight weeks and takes place either indoors or outdoors, depending on the season. Sessions are $55 for residents and $66 for nonresidents If you're new to Castle Rock, reach out to arivera@CRgov.com to be assigned to an appropriate skill group and kick-start your pickleball experience.

Leagues: Our leagues cater to players seeking a more competitive environment within a team setting (similar to a bowling league).

Participants register as teams and compete weekly against other teams. At the conclusion of each season, winners will be recognized. Teams can register in the division they believe best aligns with their skill level. (See the Adult Sports grid for more.)

Drop-in: For all indoor sessions, we have daily drop-in times during the fall and winter on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday where players of any skill level can sign up to play for $11. Drop-in sign ups can be done seven days in advance and players might play other players levels 2.0 to 4.0. We do not have this option during our summer outdoor schedule.

Tournaments: Throughout the year, we offer different tournaments both indoors and outdoors. Come test out your skills by registering as a team and playing others for bragging rights and medals.

Community play: Anytime the outdoor courts are not reserved for Town programming, courts are open to be used by all community members. No evaluation, previous experience or partner required.

Rent courts: If you want to make sure you have the court all to yourself, we have specific times courts are available to rent for $11 per hour. PICKLEBALL INSTRUCTION Clinics: We are excited to provide weekly two hour clinics for players who want to level up their knowledge and skills of the game.

Clinics are $26 for residents and $31 for nonresidents and designed for advanced, beginner and intermediate players.

This is perfect for those who want to get some fresh air while gaining a little knowledge of the Town of Castle Rock. Each week will cover a different section of Town. These are mostly flat walks, up to 4 miles round trip.

FULL-DAY CAMPS ATHLETICS AND ADVENTURE CAMP | ROCK REC Rock Rec offers a unique balance of a traditional day camp experience in the familiar setting of our beautiful and safe 300-acre Philip S. Miller Park. With a combination of outstanding amenities, exciting programming and energetic counselors, our structured and fun day camp will be the perfect place for your child.

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for campers as no two days with Rock Rec are exactly alike.

JEDI TRAINING AND FENCING SUMMER CAMP In the morning, join the Jedi ranks and become a hero! Jedi trainees will wield light sabers in theatrical fighting, participate in strength and agility training, learn Jedi lore and history, and put together a massive battle. WHERE THE FUN IS AS FULL AS THE MOON! Don't miss this annual tradition! As dusk begins to fall, riders will follow East Plum Creek Trail to Festival Park — approximately 6 miles on mostly flat terrain that is suitable for riders of all ages.

Cyclists are encouraged to participate in the festive spirit by decking out their bikes with lights and other embellishments.

At the intersection of East Plum Creek and Hangman's Gulch trails, be sure to stop at the decorating station and get creative with glow-in-the-dark items, provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once you arrive at Festival Park, enjoy a hot dog at the park.

All riders must wear a helmet and have a front headlamp and blinking rear light.

NATURE EDUCATION COLORADO BLUEBIRD PROJECT The Colorado Bluebird Project in Castle Rock operates under the POST Partners Volunteer Program with guidance from Denver Audubon. The project improves the vitality of native bluebird populations and educates the public about bluebirds. Since 2007, the program has maintained and monitored over 200 nest boxes at 35 different sites throughout Castle Rock. The Colorado Bluebird Project needs volunteers for weekly monitoring of breeding activity in the nest boxes beginning April 1 through mid-August. This program is suitable for families and individuals of all ages looking for a rewarding, fun and educational way to interact with local wildlife in their own backyard. All new volunteers are required to attend one of the monitor training options listed below. Being knowledgeable while exercising is one of the most effective ways to avoid injury and see the results you want in a shorter amount of time. Working with a personal trainer helps ensure you are doing each exercise safely and effectively. A personal trainer will coach you through a personalized workout program, work with you to create appropriate fitness goals and provide support on a flexible schedule.

The Fitness and Wellness Division offers a variety of individual, buddy and small-group training to fit your specific needs. Sessions are valid for two years from their date of purchase. Refunds will not be granted for unused visits. Extensions to expiration dates will not be granted.

BUDDY/GROUP SESSIONS Buddy Training allows you and a friend to work together toward your fitness goals. Each one-hour session may include cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, endurance or sport-specific training. Groups of two or three. Ages 13 and older.

PREMIUM CLASSES MARTIAL ARTS ATA TAEKWONDO Taekwondo is a Korean martial art focusing on kicking and striking. Train in forms, sparring, self-defense and some traditional weapons (safely padded). This class runs weekly from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on either Monday and Wednesday or from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. For brown belts and higher classes are from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Minimum six months reformer Pilates experience required or instructor approval. Not recommended for those recovering from injury, chronic back injuries/contraindications or knee or hip replacements.

OSTEOPOROSIS/OSTEOPENIA LEVEL 1 If you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, this Pilates Reformer class is for you. It was specifically created to focus on safe, low-impact, full-body exercises for anyone with low bone density. We avoid any forward-flexion or rotation of the spine — exercises that are otherwise typically included in regular Pilates classes. This session has an extra focus on strengthening the core, hips and gluteal muscles to help improve balance, and functional movements to make everyday activities easier. The small-group format allows for individualized attention from your instructor.

OSTEOPOROSIS/OSTEOPENIA LEVEL 1.5 When your body and mind are ready for new challenges, this Pilates Reformer/Tower class focus on more challenging abdominal and back work, high kneeling and balance exercises, and may introduce the jumpboard: low impact, cardio-focused jumping that gets your heart pumping. JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUES The 6-hole, 9-hole and 18-hole Junior Golf Leagues give advanced junior golfers the opportunity to have fun and compete each week for prizes that are redeemable at the end of the season. We use a variety of tournament formats to introduce golfers to the competitive side of the game while teaching teamwork, etiquette and honesty along the way.

PARENT CHILD NIGHT Parent Child Night provides families of up to four participants the opportunity to get on the golf course and enjoy the game in a noncompetitive environment. Each participant will receive a boxed meal before each event.

The Red Hawk Ridge Junior Golf Academy is a great program for golfers to learn from the PGA professionals at Red Hawk Ridge.

Your child qualifies for this program if they are between the ages of 6 and 16 years. Classes are limited to five students per instructor with a maximum of 20 participants per class.

VETS (AGES 10 TO 12 YEARS) Beginner Recommended for students with limited golf experience. Instructors will focus on the fundamentals of the game like grip, aim, posture and body movement. This class will serve as a nice introduction to the game as we cover all the basics.

There will not be a lottery for this program. Participants can register online for a spot in the academy on a first-come, first-served basis.

Private Therapeutic Recreation swim lessons provide one-on-one training and are geared toward learning how to swim and continuing to learn and practice basic swim stroke techniques. NSCD — BEYOND BOUNDARIES SKI AND BOARD Through a partnership between the Town of Castle Rock and Parker, adaptive ski or snowboard lessons will be offered at Winter Park by the National Sports Center for the Disabled.

This 4-week series includes full days of lessons as well as adaptive equipment rental. Lessons are suitable for novice skiers and individuals who are learning to ski independently. Lessons can be held one-to-one or two-to-one when needed.
