Welcome to our 15th annual bull sale. We are managing this sale on our own this year and welcome our friend Ryan Hurlburt to our auction block. He has been through the bulls in February so If you want his take on them don’t hesitate to give him a call.

This year will feature new AI/ET genetics in Duff Redwood, Woodhill Revival, Firebrand and Executive Decision as well as large sire groups from our herdbulls Black Wheel Dracarys 178E, ACC Stunner 14G and Red Six Mile Wick 146H. Lot 1-6 are ET Redwood Brothers out of 1Z and 144D and Lot 7 &8 are their natural calves. The offering is deep in quality and variety and includes many popular sire groups such as Bohanon, Redbox 119H, Reckoning 149A, Stirling, Trapper, U2 Revival 147G to name a few.

This year the bulls were fed a balanced TMR growing ration of hay silage, straw, corn silage, rolled barley, rolled faba beans, whole oats and a custom formulated mineral. The bulls are very athletic and have been wintered in large paddocks to ensure they get plenty of exercise. They will go straight to work and walk your pastures with ease. All of the cattle are familiar with both horses and dogs. We work with the bulls daily and we value the good dispositions in our breeding lines.

We took a pen of red bulls on the road this fall to Harvest Showdown and Western Canadian Agribition. The National Angus Show was at Ag Ex in Brandon this year so we took a full string and brought home banners for Reserve Senior Champion Bull (Bohanon 23J) and Intermediate Calf Champion with Lot 2 in this sale Red ACC Redwood 92L.

New this year to the sale is the addition of the L Bar 7 cattle to the offering. This is our herdsman Justin Logeot’s enterprise that he has been growing. When he came to work for us three years ago he purchased 10 open heifers from us. We have been running them here with our cows and developing his bull calves alongside ours. These bulls sell with the same guarantees as the rest of the offering and Justin will stand behind them 100%.

Austen and Katie have been kept busy with Finley who turned 3in January. They were blessed with their daughter Remi in May who is full of smiles and giggles. Their house is a buzz of activity between these two.

Breanna and Wade welcomed their daughter Ember to the family in August. Breanna has been enjoying Mat leave with Ember and Wade is loving his new role as a dad.

Bruce and Ione are enjoying being grandparents, traveling to Mexico and enjoying time at the lake.

Our lead off group of calves is the result of a very successful flush between Redwood 1941 and Red ACC Tibbie 144D. 92L and 49L were shown at Harvest Showdown, The Canadian National Red Angus Show, and Agribition. 92L was Intermediate Champion Bull Calf at the National Red Angus Show in Brandon MB. We selected 144D for this flush because she has raised several very nice replacements for our program. Her mother 33Z is still in production and has raised 5 sale bulls and three replacement females. 49L and 92L are very similar in build and 78L is more moderate.

1Z has been a very good donor for us with 34 registered progeny including two herd bulls, a dozen sale bulls and several replacement females. These Redwood sons are jammy and masculine. The full sisters are moderate and deep sided and dark red. 52L and 150L are more moderate built and 117L has a little more stretch.

We purchased a pack of semen on Resolution in the Red Round Up Sale. It worked really well on 1Z and several other females that we bred it to. Bulls are attractive fronted and long spined. The females are shapely and feminine. He does an excellent job of making dark red cows even when bred to lighter coloured cows. Her previous bull calves have sold to Benjamin Kaiser and Oak Lane Farms.

One of the heaviest Red Angus Bulls in the pen ratioing 114 with an adjusted yw of 1263. He’s got length and frame to breed any cows out there and the leg structure to travel and work big pastures. His dam 127F is a deep sided powerful cow that had another ripper of a 119H bull calf this year. Last year this bull’s full brother sold to Logan Lytwyn and her 2021 calf sold to Doug Alford.

This beast is one of Austen’s favourite Red Bulls in the pen. He’s really powerfully constructed up front, strong topped and really complete structurally. 181G is a very nice young female that has already provided a daughter for the replacement heifer pen.

Red ACC Reckoning 119L is deeper sided with more spring of rib then any other Red Angus bull in the pen. He’s really wide based and thick and has almost 4” of hair. He’s a full brother to 117H who sold in our 2020 sale to Gene Brown in North Dakota. With an Adjusted YW of 1337 he’s number one in his contemporary group and is ratioing 120 which means he weighs 20% more then the average bull in his group.

We are only offering one Bohannon 23J son this year and he is very cool. Deep sided with enough frame to cover any cows you throw at him. We took 23J on the Road this fall and he was Reserve Senior Champion at the Canadian National Red Angus Show. He was also very popular at Manitoba Ag Days, extremely docile he had thousands of kids scratching him and sitting on him all week. Watch for more exciting progeny next year as we used him heavily in 2023.

Red ACC 170L is a really nice complete calving ease sire out of a 12 year old cow that is still producing here. 33Z is the grand dam to Lot 1-3 and lot 7. We kept a herd bull from her and have sold her sons to Cam Isaac and Coltyn Kotyk.

Dam 38J is a beautiful Nozeka 81G daughter. 81G daughters were really popular in WRAZ’s dispersal which lead Redrich Red Angus to purchase him and use him heavily in their cow herd last year. The high seller in Blairs. Ag recent sale was an 81G bull.

Calving ease specialist raised by a very nice dark red two year old. Grand dam Red ACC Tibbie 36T was a family favourite when she was here and registered 13 calves including 6 sale bulls.

One of the most impressive black hided bulls in the pen, 101L was a favourite in the pasture this summer. His dam Sierra 18Z is still here and has another great calf at side. His granddam was an excellent producer for us as well. We kept a full brother to this bull last year as a junior herdbull.

Doc 1L has been a standout calf from a very young age, showing performance and style in a waythat I can’t help but love. With terrific structure all the way from his great feet to his clean skull and plenty of red meat, he’s built like a boxcar and moves around the bull pen like a cat. With length, depth, power, and a cow like Soapy 49H behind him he’s sure to be a great addition in anyone’s pasture. She’s a well balanced, great uddered, structurally sound female with excellent mothering ability. Best suited for use on cows.

Very heifer friendly guy here and I’m pretty impressed by this Trump son. High calving ease and low birth weight but still bringing a hip and top like his to the table, you can have your cake and eat it too. With his smooth front and tidy head, you can bet that your heifers will calve easy. He’s out of the high selling bred heifer from the 2022 Sisters Sale, Lila 52J is a breeding piece from the JAS program that I have been very happy with.

Revival 5L has the herd bull look about him. Smooth over his front, well balanced right through his middle, and moderate framed. Tie that together on a sound structure and he gets out and moves like a herd sire should. Red U2 Revival 147G caught my attention in 2021 at Agribition with his superior phenotype and great genetics behind him. I was fortunate to purchase a semen package from Blairswest Land And Cattle in the Opportunity Knocks sale that year. Trouble free calving on cows and I wouldn’t be afraid to use him on well developed heifers.

We purchased these embryos from Canadian Sires and got all bull calves on this particular mating. Woodhill Revival H028 was the high selling bull in their sale for $55,000 USD to Belvin Angus and Canadian Sires. The Lady cow family on the bottom side of the pedigree is royally bred with some very valuable individuals making up the pedigree. The grandam to these bulls was valued at $300,000 and had over $ 2 million dollars in progeny sales. These bulls are smooth made and are designed to calve easy. They were the heaviest sire group at weaning and yearling weights.

The heaviest muscled of the 14G calves this year. He’s got a really great cow behind him in Allencroft Annie K 11B. We’ve kept four daughters out of her and they are all still producing.

Very smooth made bull out of a nice Charlo daughter. His brothers have sold to Don Heller and William Devos.

Really strong calving ease candidate, His dam 8E is as pretty as they come. William Devos, Stephanow Farms and Watts Ranch have purchased her other sons.

All bulls on offer will calve unassisted from mature cows, bulls suitable for breeding heifers are highlighted as such. Calving ease and birthweight should not be a factor when selecting Angus bulls for breeding mature cows.
