Eric Reid Jr.'s journey into business began in the NFL where he became one of the most prominent players in the league. However, he soon became aware of the systemic oppression and inequality that plagued American society. Along with Colin Kaepernick, he decided to take a knee during the national anthem to protest systemic oppression and police brutality. This decision cost him his career in the NFL, but it ignited a passion within him to address those inequalities through business.
Eric began to channel his energy into a new project. He saw how poor nutrition was a major contributor to the health disparities that existed in underserved and diverse communities. So, he founded a meal delivery service called Vendisco. Vendisco partners with healthcare organizations and educational institutions to provide healthy meals to at-home patients and students.
Eric knew that many people in marginalized communities faced barriers to accessing nutritious food due to factors such as poverty, lack of transportation, and limited access to healthy food options. Vendisco was designed to address these issues and provide affordable, healthy meals to those who needed it most.
Through Vendisco, Eric is able to continue advocating for social justice by addressing one of the root causes of health disparities. He believes that by providing healthy meals, he could help to improve the health outcomes of underserved and diverse communities and decrease the prevalence of chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes.
Eric's journey from using his platform as a professional athlete raising awareness of systemic oppression to creating Vendisco is a testament of his commitment to love people and improving the lives of those around him. Through Vendisco, Eric continues to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of underserved and diverse communities.
