COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD The County Public Service Board is a creation of Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and buttressed by section 59 of the County Governments Act, 2012.

11. Ensured induction of all the recruited staff in the County

Key Achievements 1.

Appointment of 962 staff members following requests from the various County Government Departments. These include: 190 Nurses, 101 Medical Doctors, 47 Clinical Officers, 35 Pharmaceutical Officers, 80 Enforcement Officers, 54 Drivers, 21 Traffic Marshals, 16 Youth & Sports Officers, 18 Directors, 16 Assistant Directors and 10 Chief Officers.

5. Sub-Counties visits educating county public officers on the principles and values of public service.

6. Overseen the establishment of the County and Departmental Human Resource Advisory Committee charged with various human resource matters including performance management.

7. Spearheaded the signing of a Recognition Agreement with the Kenya National Union of Nurses, Kiambu County Branch, in order to amicably address staff grievances and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

13. In 2016, following various stakeholder meetings, the Board approved provision of comprehensive medical cover under the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to County public service staff. 14. Approved the translation of terms for over 900 eligible staff engaged since 2014 from contract to permanent and pensionable with effect from 1st September 2016.

15. Absorption to permanent and pensionable terms of over 450 healthcare workers posted by the National Government to the County under former Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) programme.

• Construction of Karuri Wholesale and Retail Market in Kiambaa Sub-county.

• Construction of Wangige egg market in Kabete Sub-County, the first of its kind in Kenya.

• There are ongoing construction of market works at Kamwangi in Gatundu North SubCounty, Limuru in Limuru Sub-County, Githunguri in Githunguri Sub-County and Dagoretti in Kikuyu Sub-County to support more than 10,000 business operators within the County.

• Construction of 65BodaBoda sheds across all the wards of Kiambu County.

• Major Renovation Works ( Wangige Market, Gatundu South Market and Ngoliba Market) • Minor Market Centers Works undertaken (Fencing, Murraming, Access Roads, Erecting Gates, Drainage works and Ablution Blocks) in

the following marjets:- Gachie, Mataara, Ruku,Gachege, Gatundu modern, Gatukuyu, Kiganjo, Gikambura, Gitaru, Gatundu modern stalls, Limuru livestock market, Juja market access road, Ruaka market access road, Karuri market access road among others

• Construction of Sanitary facilities along Limuru – Naivasha highway at Mathore - Lari sub county with a view to promoting stop overs for tourists to view the Great Rift Valley and to purchase tourist handicraft being sold at the sites.

• Construction of washrooms, landscaping, perimeter wall and an access road to 14 falls in Thika Sub-county is complete.

• Planned projects include the construction of Modern Stalls in all major towns of Kiambu County, construction of more bodaboda shades in all the, rehabilitation of Kigumo market in Githunguri sub-county, rehabilitation of Kagwe market in Lari Sub county, rehabilitation of Kinoo market in Kikuyu Sub-county, rehabilitation of Githiga market in Githunguri sub-county, rehabilitation of Kimende Market in Lari Sub county and the rehabilitation of Jamhuri market in Thika Sub-county.
