Thorne Waterside Music Festival 2024

It’s back for 2024, the Thorne Waterside Music Festival takes place on 19th-20th July at Barge Inn, Thorne

‘Indie Friday’ sees the return of the mighty Oasis Maybe, probably the UK’s best Oasis Tribute. Supported by Melting Pot, a classic Indie band with amazing sounds from the 90s Manchester scene and crowd entertainer, 9-year-old Annabel Drummer; playing the drums.

‘Party Saturday’ is headlined by the formidable Ultra 90s vs 2000s with their ever-changing set of bangers. Ultimate dance anthems with full band and

production. Supported by Bogus Brothers – a full on party band to get your voices and dance moved in check. Emma Ramsden will also be supplying all the feel-good classics, Gordons Alive bringing the rock music and Rory Hoy DJ with plenty of classics.

Local dance company going from strength to strength

Launched in September 2022, Aftershock Dance Studio is currently the dance home to over 90 children from the local area

Caitlin Hallam, 19, launched Aftershock Dance Studio in September 2022, her passion has always been to teach so she decided to bite the bullet and open her own urban dance school at just 18-years-old.

Caitlin has trained in urban/ hip hop styles since she was 5 years old. She has trained with some of the best in the dance

industry and even trained in workshops with Michael Jacksons choreographers.

She started teaching classes on a Saturday but within a few months had to put on more classes through the week extending her timetable to Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

After 8 months of Aftershock being open Caitlin wanted to give her dancers a permanent

dance studio space, somewhere she could put her own stamp on, and this is when she found a unit she could renovate into a dance studio.

She gave herself a 6-week period to completely transform the old unit into a dance studio and officially opened the doors to Aftershocks Dance Studio in November 2023.

Caitlin’s passion for dance, teaching and giving

local children a safe fun environment to train in doesn’t stop with just the children. She also wanted to help parents out by keeping her class prices affordable and competitive. She also puts on fundraising events to raise money to provide every child with performance uniform and costumes for the end of year shows which takes that money pressure off the parents.

Aftershock Dance Studio is holding a fundraising Spring Fayre on Sunday 19th May, 10.30am at the Rugby Club in Thorne. As well as performances from the dancers there will be craft stalls,

carboot stalls, bouncy castle, carnival games, food, cake stalls, tombola stalls and more. All money raised from the day will be going towards paying for the children’s performance uniform and costumes.
