Social care staff from We

recognised at Great Brit Staff at Windsor Court care home in Wetherby have been recognised among the best of Yorkshire’s social care workers by reaching the finals of the regional Great British Care Awards The Wetheby care team has scooped two places in the regional finals representing the Yorkshire home in the ‘Putting People First’ and ‘Social Care Covid-19 Hero’ awards. The finalists have been nominated by colleagues, residents, relatives or professionals and are selected by a team of judges from their region. Each nomination is testament to the team’s dedication to their role, providing person-centred care for their residents. Windsor Court, operated by Ideal Carehomes, is a residential and dementia care home boasting a luxury cinema room, beauty parlour, convenience store, spacious lounges and landscaped gardens. Residents at Windsor Court enjoy a full programme of health, leisure and wellbeing activities managed by a dedicated team of carers. The care home employs a caring, compassionate and highly trained team of staff who promote independence and personal choice for residents. The home is purpose-built using state-of-the-art care design and staff have access to the latest care technology. The purpose of the Great British Care Awards is to pay tribute to those individuals in the care sector who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. The finalists attended a virtual meeting where they were interviewed

by several judges who themselves work within the care sector. The results will be announced at a regional gala dinner in April with the winners securing a place at the national awards. Front of House Manager, Dara Scott, who has been shortlisted for the ‘Putting People First’ award, said: “I am delighted to have been selected as a finalist in this year’s Great British Care Awards. To be recognised for my role within the home is very touching. I believe that the needs of our residents are paramount and as a team we always put them first in everything that we do.” Lifestyle Manager, Kirsty Watson, who has been selected as a ‘Social Care Covid-19 Hero’ finalist said: “It is brilliant to be recognised for my work and to know what I do is making such a difference to our residents’ lives is the icing on the cake. Activities are incredibly important for wellbeing and help us bond with our residents, and our activities have been a huge part of keeping morale high during the last few months. I am delighted to be nominated alongside Dara and I wish her the best of luck within her category”. Home Manager, Paula Mountjoy, said: “It is wonderful to see Dara and Kirsty selected as finalists this year - the whole team has been fantastic through recent challenging times.” Tadcaster Echo wishes Dara and Kirsty the best of luck. We hope they make it to the national awards!
