Little Voices’ second centre recently opened in Collingham with lessons running every Tuesday at Collingham Memorial Hall
Your child is at the heart of everything Little Voices does, whether they love taking centre stage or need a bit of encouragement to come out of their shell, the singing and drama lessons for 4-18 year olds will help them be the best they can be.
Their fun, yet structured, lessons have lots of benefits - boosting confidence and social skills as well as performance abilities.
Little Voices have small group sizes which means individual attention for each child and no one gets left at the back of the room.
They also offer the opportunity to work towards LAMDA’s highly respected and accredited exams in Musical Theatre, Drama, Acting and Communication.
Johann, Principal of Little Voices North and East Leeds, previously taught music and drama locally at Boston Spa, and has four years’ teaching experience.
While at university, Johann released two of her own songs – one of which was broadcast on the popular ‘BBC Music Introducing’ programme, whose early success stories include Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and Florence + the Machine – and she’s also performed at various venues and small festivals.
It is one of Johann’s goals to support children to become confident individuals, no matter what their future career may look like.
Johann told Tadcaster Echo: “Performing arts education is severely underfunded in schools but it’s so important. I want to educate people that performing arts isn’t just about acting and singing – it’s also about learning valuable life skills, such as knowing how to talk to someone in an interview, or even having the confidence to order in a restaurant.”
Little Voices is proud to offer holiday clubs and theatre camps for children to spend the day singing and acting - all whilst building confidence and guaranteed to tire them out for bedtime!

This annual event and a fun day out for all the family takes place on Saturday June 7th at St John’s School for the Deaf, Church Street, Boston Spa, from 12pm to 6pm
Boston Spa Gala was previously held at Stables Lane playing fields in the town but moved to its new home at St John’s School for the Deaf in 2019 where they have far more space.
The event is not-for-profit and run by a small team of volunteers. Any spare income is donated to local charities and organisations. Over the years they have donated over £10,000 to worthy local causes.
This year’s gala will include a football tournament which will run alongside the gala for boys and girls from the local primary schools.
There will be a variety of stalls including homemade jewellery, candles and hats as well as food vendors including artisan pizzas, crazy spuds, crepes and crumble.
A children’s entertainer will keep the young ones entertained in the Kids Zone.
For the more energetic, there will be a funfair, kids play area, bouncy castle and trampolines.
Live performances on the main stage will include Willis Academy of Dance, Voices of Rock, TLA, Big Red Curtain, Union of Dance and Clifford Drama Group.
There will also be a bar with real ales, cider gin and prosecco.
Oliver Willard told Tadcaster Echo: “I am one of a handful of organisers and I have been helping for the past 14 years. I am very proud of the gala and how it brings people together and celebrates this wonderful corner of Yorkshire. Despite wind and rain, it always seems to bring out the best in people.”
£4 entry for adults, free for under-16s. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
If you would like to help on the day, join the committee or have a stall then please email: bostonspagala@gmail.com
Jigsaws started life in 2007 and their ethos has always been the welfare and care of all the families in our local community
Initially, from a small modular building, over the years they increased their capacity and took on larger premises.
For the last 17 years they have grown and continue to offer amazing early years’ provision and wraparound care, with an experienced team of practitioners.
The current buildings they occupy are showing the wear and tear of the last decade. As they look to the future of Jigsaws and its sustainability, they need to think about updating to new premises, the growing demand in their area for childcare and the government’s push with funded hours to encourage more parents back into the workplace.
They also need to think about the increase in housing development in the area and how they can best support these new families.
So, they are asking for your help They need to raise funds to support plans for their new building on their current premises. It will be energy efficient with a much smaller carbon footprint. The investment will plan for the future of early years’ provision at Jigsaws and continued training of their future generation of practitioners and teachers. The building will allow them to increase our capacity to support the local need for childcare and wraparound care.
If individuals or companies would like to donate, or if you have ideas as local businesses of how to get involved with this project, they would love to hear from you.
