Ball Python Paradise Rescue, a dedicated, family-run reptile rescue centre based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, serving all surrounding areas and the the wider county

This rescue centre was founded out of a deep love and passion for reptiles.

It was created to fill a gap in local support and ensure every scaly creature gets the care and respect they deserve.

The centre specialises primarily in snakes –especially ball pythons and corn snakes – but they happily take in, care for and rehome all types of reptiles including geckos, lizards, tortoises and more.

Ball Python Paradise Rescue is run by Jady Hooton, husband Jordan and brother Ben Phelps.

They are a small, close-knit family team who run every part of the rescue with total commitment and hands-on care every single day.

Their roles cover everything from rescuing and transporting animals, to daily feeding,

cleaning, health checks and providing essential rehabilitation for animals in need.

They also handle all communications, offer expert guidance to owners, manage adoption processes and make sure every animal in their care is safe, happy and ready for their forever home.

The rescue provides a safe, reliable place for owners who can no longer keep their reptiles, ensuring their pets are taken in with kindness and never turned away where possible.

They provide completely free, honest expert advice and detailed care guides, helping both new and experienced owners learn how to give their reptiles the best quality of life.

They also give people the wonderful opportunity to adopt a rescue reptile, guiding them through the whole process to make sure both the animal

and the new family are perfectly matched and supported long-term.

When snakes come into their care, they get a full health assessment, any illnesses or injuries are treated, then they are housed in species-specific enclosures that perfectly match their natural needs and behaviours.

They spend lots of time handling and socialising them, helping them build trust, become calm and confident, and develop the amazing gentle personalities they are known for. They carefully match each snake to the right new owner, making sure the adopter fully understands their care requirements, and then stay in contact to offer ongoing support and advice for as long as it is needed.

Calling all classic cars, bikes and vintage machinery enthusiasts

Martin Knight, Hangar stallholder, told Scunthorpe Journal: “One month ago, the Hemswell Hangar Meet was nothing more than an idea in my head. I’ve watched other historic sites slowly fade away, and I didn’t want that for RAF Hemswell.

“By bringing together classic cars, bikes, and vintage machinery, we are trying to ensure that this landmark remains an active, working piece of history rather than just a memory.

“The day begins at 7am with the bustling energy of the auto-jumble and car-boot traders setting out their wares; 7.30am, there is a quiet window of camaraderie where stallholders can explore each other’s offerings, 8.30am, the paths are cleared

for the display vehicles to make their way to their designated zones in a ‘parade of respect’ for the engines that once roared around this leviathan of a building.

“At 9.45am, the site transforms for the public. A visitor’s journey starts with a walk through rows of motorcycles and the rhythmic chugging of stationary engines - machines often only seen in museums, but here, they are alive and working.

“Our goal is to see that field lined with a perimeter of classic cars and vintage tractors, creating a ‘ring of heritage’ around the traders in the centre.”
