Jerry Green Dog Rescue gives a second chance to dogs who’ve been abandoned, neglected, or mistreated, and believes every dog is unique and worth fighting for If you enjoy the retail environment and helping customers find a bargain, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you to make a lasting difference.

As a volunteer retail assistant, you can expect to: • Welcome and serve customers • Sort and prepare donations • Accept donations and gather Gift Aid information • Help to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for customers • And most excitingly, give cuddles and treats to the four-legged visitors!

To support Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s mission in finding safe and loving homes for dogs in need, the charity has six retail shops which help raise vital funds.

Each shop is home to a wonderful team of staff and volunteers who are there to help customers fetch fantastic deals on hundreds of pre-loved, quality items.

Volunteering at Jerry Green Dog Rescue means you can be part of a journey where every wagging tail tells a story of hope, and every hour you give helps a dog in need.

The charity is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support the retail shops in Ashby and Scunthorpe.

We spoke to Curly, part of the Curly’s team to find out more about Curlys Athletes: “We loved the feeling of that ‘big professional race’ but felt they often missed some ‘heart and purpose’.

Closer to home we saw lots of hardworking volunteers putting on great events with real purpose and drive, but they didn’t have the same big event feel.

“This formed our ‘everyone is an athlete’ approach, which helps us ensure everyone feels welcome, can take part, go to be part of something special and memorable and felt valued.

“So, we wondered what it would be like to have a big event feel that connected through a strong sense of purpose to its community, charities, ones that get people moving and helps to bring people together.

“Over the years of being involved in sports and events we also saw the power and the impact on our charity’s partners, the communities and our individual athletes.

“Eventually this led to us to win a national event of the year award (alongside lots of other awards at national and regional level for our events).

awards for our work in the community winning awards. Created from all of this was our ‘purpose before profit’ approach … which basically means we just want to do good.

“Now we deliver events from running, triathlons and other adventures that are fun, challenging and memorable, unique experiences for people.

“Over 1 million people every 90 days see our online content!

“We hire sports venues out and our incredible volunteers open these for free to the public and provide free coaching for lots of kids and free sessions for adults.

“Excitingly we’ve also launched our shop and sports kit. Following the same principles, we use this to generate lots of small grants that supports others to get active, especially focussed on those who face more challenges in getting active.

“Our work also sees us volunteering to look at how we grow prosperity in our communities, working on things like economic growth to help tackle health equalities and connect to strategies that help people get more active.

“We love what we do, and we hope that shows through in everything we do.”
