FROM A POLICE PERSPECTIVE:
Carrying out a targeted operation to disrupt drug-related crime
Investigating and tackling drugs crime remains a priority within the force, and we would like to thank the community for their support, and those who have contacted us with information about drug dealing and drug-related crime in their areas
In this month’s issue we share how officers from the Goole Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by the Kinetic Intervention Team, carried out targeted warrants as part of an operation to disrupt drug-related crime and protect vulnerable people in the community.
The action forms part of a wider multi-agency approach to address reports of drug misuse and anti-social behaviour, ensuring Goole remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Officers executed two warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act at addresses on Eastgate and Bournville in Goole.
Upon conducting searches of the properties, officers discovered and seized quantities of suspected class A drugs.
Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Tom Stevens said: “This operation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to tackling those who cause harm in the community, while working closely with partner agencies to provide support and longterm solutions.
“Investigating and tackling drugs crime remains a priority within our force, and we would like to thank the community for their support.
“The information you provide assists in building a bigger picture for us to take action. I hope this sends a very clear message to those involved in drugs crime, that it will not be tolerated.”
If you have any concerns about what’s happening in your area, speak to your local officer, call into your nearest station or call our non-emergency 101 line.
Celebrating excellence: Shelby J named Lions Young Ambassador 2025
The Young Ambassador scheme is very much about developing skills, giving a young person experience of interviews and presentations
We spoke to Anne-Marie, Youth Representative of Goole District Lions.
She told Our Goole: “We first came across Shelby J’ in the Our Goole magazine, where she was promoting her community work for Five Rivers Food Bank Goole and her Period Poverty Project where she was sewing reusable period pads herself and sending them abroad to Nigeria.
“I contacted Shelby to see if she would like the opportunity to become the Goole Districts Lions representative in the Lions Young Ambassador of the 21st-century competition.
“The competition is open to young people aged
between 15-18. The competition promotes the projects the young person is involved in the community.
“Shelby went forward to represent the club in the District Finals and she won. At this stage Shelby was awarded a bursary of £500 to support her community work. After the District Finals, the chosen candidate then competes in the Multi District Final.
“Shelby won the Multi District Final and was awarded a trophy for a year. She also received a further bursary of £1,000 and she was then eligible for the Europa Finals.
“At the Europa Finals in Dublin, Shelby represented the British Isles and came second out of the nine international candidates who were representing a different country. Shelby gained a further £2,500 towards her projects.
“The candidates are evaluated on their community service, public speaking and communication abilities, leadership potential and their ideas for how to use the bursary.
“Since first meeting Shelby about being Goole District Lions Club Youth Ambassador and being part of her journey as the the youth representative of Goole District Lions, it has
been nothing short of a privilege, honour and amazing.
“Shelby’s personal growth has been truly outstanding. She has managed her bursaries to turn her sewing skills into an actual project called ‘Sew The World A Better Place’.
“Shelby’s project now runs workshops to teach others to sew while still remaining true to her environmental message of making items out of materials other wise destined for landfill.
“Shelby J’ you are just amazing.”
Congratulations from all at Goole District Lions Club and Our Goole.

Property Experts talks to us about the November budget and what that means for asking prices
BUDGET HIATUS IMPACTS
NOVEMBER
The November Budget hiatus pushed average asking prices down by more than usual for November.
The latest Rightmove House Price Index shows average new seller asking prices fell by 1.8% to £364,833.
This is a larger-than-usual November drop, as the decade-high number of homes for sale and Budget hiatus add to the seasonal slowdown in new seller pricing.
This compares to an average drop over the previous ten years of 1.1% in November, and is the largest fall in prices at this time of year since 2012. Average asking prices are also down 0.5% annually. In addition, asking price reductions of homes already
ASKING PRICES
on the market are at their highest level since February 2024, as sellers try to tempt bargain-hunting buyers.
The Budget was a big distraction, and was later in the year than usual, with many would-be buyers waiting to see how their finances will be impacted. It appears that the usual lull we’d see around Christmas time has arrived early this year, and sellers who are keen to move are having to work especially hard to entice buyers with competitive pricing.
The market would benefit from a further bank rate cut and less uncertainty about taxes. If we can see some mortgage rate reductions over the next few weeks, supported by a December Bank Rate cut, we could start 2026 on a positive footing.
