We also speak to The Ladies Chatroom for wellbeing and mental health. You can join every first Thursday of the month from 6pm-8pm at The Armthorpe Community Centre. This free, welcoming event is open to all women aged 18 and over.

Empower your mind: Join The Ladies Chatroom for wellbeing and mental health
You can join The Ladies Chatroom every first Thursday of the month from 6pm-8pm at The Armthorpe Community Centre. This free, welcoming event is open to all women aged 18 and over. Pop over to connect, share, and unwind with a vibrant community of ladies!
This group is run by Jackie Doak and her two daughters Amie and Ellie.
Jackie started the group after suffering with her own mental health due to family bereavements and the empty nest syndrome.
Jackie told Doncaster Echo: “I needed something to occupy my mind and make me feel I was helping others. I had heard of Andy’s Man Club for men but thought that there wasn’t much out there just for ladies. The group offers a safe space for ladies to come along for a range of different reasons.
“Some come along for the company, some come along just to take time out from their busy lives while others find the group a great place just to have a cuppa and a chat. The list is endless.
“We sometimes have guest speakers and have covered subjects such as the menopause and women’s health issues. Although we are a nonprofessional group we also have the knowledge to signpost ladies to other resources if we feel it is needed.”
The group relies on charitable donations to cover the rent and running costs. They also run a small raffle at each session to cover some costs.
There is free parking and a lift for those that need this facility.

Every year, she donates a box full of shopping for a Christmas dinner to a family in need.
Pennie’s passion for art first drew her to tattooing, but she was also inspired to challenge the male-dominated industry and empower more women to join the field. Of all her work, she is most proud of recreating a natural-looking nipple for a woman after surgery - a meaningful tattoo that restored both confidence and a sense of self.
