Coastal Louisiana is a magical place. Our communities are vibrant. Our culture is rich. Our fisheries are productive. The people who live here are passionate about the Pelican State. But for decades, our coast has been washing away. Fortunately, we have solutions. Since 1988, CRCL has been dedicated to restoring Louisiana’s coast. For years, we have been pushing for science-based policy to restore our coast, undertaking onthe-ground restoration projects and helping ensure that everyone has a voice in the fight for our future here in south Louisiana. We have big plans for the future: We are currently training the next generation of coastal leaders through our youth education programs. We'll host our biggest State of the Coast conference yet in 2023. And we are undertaking restoration projects across the coast that will ensure a brighter future for all Louisianians.
how we do it Oyster Shell Recycling Program (OSRP)
Policy and advocacy
CRCL's OSRP collects shell from restaurants and drop-off sites and uses it to build living shorelines and restore shoreline habitat.
CRCL works at the local, state and federal levels to enact science-based policies to protect and restore coastal Louisiana.
Native Plants Program (NPP) CRCL plants native grasses and trees from one side of our coast to the other, helping to anchor our fragile soil and keep it from washing away.
Engagement CRCL believes that the best path to restore our coast is by involving everyone in the solutions.
