In the past 50 years, more than 1,500 square miles of coastal Louisiana have vanished. Without immediate and decisive acon, Louisiana stands to lose an addional 1,000 square miles of land, an area the size of Rhode Island, by the year 2050.
Louisiana's coastal wetlands are disappearing -- a football field worth of land every 100 minutes

For 35 years, CRCL has worked to guide the restoraon of our coast through policies we have championed, plans we have helped mold and outreach to help residents adapt to our changing world. Recognizing that Louisiana’s coastal land loss has dramac impacts on the naon’s energy, navigaon and fisheries interests, CRCL also works at the state, local and federal levels to ensure that restoring and protecng coastal Louisiana is a top priority for our state and the naon.

What we are doing
CRCL’s mission is to unite people in acon to achieve a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast for all.
ADVOCATE
CRCL advocates for science-based policies at the local, state and federal levels. Through this work, we connue to help shape the state’s Coastal Master Plan and migaon strategies for large-scale restoraon projects.
EDUCATE
CRCL developed the Future Coastal Leaders program to prepare the next generaon to conserve our coast. Students are guided through a series of experiences that provide a broad understanding of coastal land loss and plans for restoraon and showcases the many professions available that support this work.
RECYCLE
CRCL’s Oyster Shell Recycling Program has recycled more than 14 million pounds of oyster shell, keeping the shell from landfills and creang over 8,000 feet of living shoreline. With our dedicated volunteers, we have built five reefs.
