Step 2: Recycle
Aer the oysters are eaten, restaurant partners store the shells in recycling bins provided by CRCL. Contractors regularly collect the shells and take them to the CRCL Restoraon Headquarters to be cured and prepared for use in restoraon projects.
Step 3: Restore
CRCL hosts volunteer events to return all collected shells to Louisiana waters to help restore oyster reefs, create habitat and stabilize our imperiled coastline. Oyster reefs also grow vercally and serve as one of the lines of defense to protect our coast from damage caused by hurricanes and tropical storms.
SAVING LOUISIANA NEVER TASTED SO GOOD! A guide to oyster shell recycling is the only statewide nonprofit organizaon dedicated to coastal restoraon. CRCL’s mission is to unite people in acon to achieve a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast for all.
