Unite people in action to achieve a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast for all.
VISION:
Vibrant wetlands, with hurricane protection, bountiful ecosystems and economic opportunities across Louisiana’s coast.
WHAT IS CRCL?
The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring Louisiana’s coast. Founded in 1988, CRCL was the first statewide organization focused on addressing the land loss crisis. Over the years, CRCL has led groundbreaking initiatives, including the Oyster Shell Recycling Program, large-scale volunteer restoration projects and policy advocacy efforts. By engaging communities, businesses and policymakers, CRCL is playing a pivotal role in shaping coastal restoration efforts and ensuring a more sustainable future for Louisiana.
LOOKING AHEAD
In collaboration with multiple partner organizations, we are continuing to planting over 30,000 bald cypress trees and other native vegetation as part of the Central Wetlands Reforestation Collective. Additionally, we will construct our eighth oyster reef, organize volunteer plantings for marsh and dune grasses, launch the second cohort of our Coastal Leadership Institute and lead various restoration efforts across south Louisiana—all while continuing to support our state's coastal restoration and protection initiatives.

2025 PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
CRCL kicked off 2025 with a record-breaking reef build, and we did it in style! We teamed up with Force Blue, NFL Green, the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee and Chefs Brigade, a coalition of Gulf Coast restaurants, chefs and caterers for an unforgettable coastal restoration project to protect the shoreline in Leeville.
This incredible effort was made possible with support from Lafourche Parish government, Verizon, Entergy, Dow Chemical, Venture Global, Port Fourchon, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program.
With both our Native Plants Program and Oyster Shell Recycling Program in action, we planted, stacked and built our way to a stronger coast. It was a true Super Bowl of restoration, proving that when we come together, we can tackle coastal land loss one shell at a time!
